I thought the Wild were done but they pull it out 3-2 in Colorado and bring it back home. I have no illusions that they will win this series but a home win would really make things exciting.

House rules....

We lost Hale early so it is only fair that everyone else in the WCHA give up their best player early too. Come on, MN. Play nice ;-)

This and the Irmen comment are duly recorded. I had the same question on Irmen.

Blais use of goalies is certainly a matter of discussion among the observers on the internet. Some support his strategy and some don't. I think we would all agree that numbers of qoalies are not the key, it is the quality. Craig Perry, former goalie for the Sioux has worked on a volunteer basis with the goalies this year, but I don't know if that would equate with the teams who have a full-time goalie coach.

To be clear, I'm only counting guys from GF/EGF. Is Garret Larson from there? Chad Dahlen, who you refer to is from Devil's Lake I think? So doesn't count. I added him to the list above

Speaking of hockey in Grand Forks, is the GF/EGF area cranking out more top notch D1 players than any other area, per capita? Or at least comparable? I haven't looked into any data on where kids are coming from but to look at the list of top D1 players from this area (current players or committed to programs): Bina, Robbie - UND Eickman, Mike - UNO Fuher, Nick - UND Gasparini, Joey - Vermont Howe, Scott - Air Force Lamoureux, Phillippe - UND Moreland, Jake - SCSU Metcalf, Nate - MSUM Palmiscno, Tyler - UND Potulny, Grant - MN Potulny, Ryan - MN Schneider, Andy - UND Ziegelmann, Nate - UND I think I might be missing a name or 2 as well. It seems like quite a list for a population center that is not huge. Or am I all wet. Also, considering Moreland, Moreland, Ziegelman, Lamoureux are all goaltenders, what does that say for goaltender development in town?

I really thought last spring the gophers had a great chance to compete for a repeat title. Their slow start to the year had me questioning that, though.

I also wouldn't be surprised if Parise had an "A" on his jersey next year... jk, good points about the PK. I agree it wasn't great. But my question is do we even have the guys to play it up to the level we did last year? That is a question. On the other hand, some experts say the PK starts with the goalie. If that comes around maybe that bumps the kill up a couple of positions.... As for the PP, I also agree with you. It hasn't been great. On the other hand, it wasn't great when we could put Blake, Hoogsteen, et al on the ice either. That is why I didn't get much being critical. I've accepted serviceable. If we could do one thing better next year it would be for the point men on the pp or the defensemen figure out a way to actually NOT hit the opponents shin guards with their shot. What an improvement that would make.

Here is a copy of one of my posts from last spring.

Shooting each other = no fun

Anybody else see the tv footage of Vanek's dad after his goal? He gave him the "Heil Hitler" salute. I thought it was pretty funny, but with what people say about Ralph I don't know why we couldn't have signed this kid.

Congratulations Greyeagle! Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. Let's not even consider the idea of a 3peat...

I'm not above wishing bad things on the opponent. Taffe left early last year but that wasn't nearly enough. The Sioux have almost always suffered early departures after championships (heck these days it doesn't even need a championship for guys to move on). Hopefully the sweet play of Vanek and Tallackson in the game tonite impressed some GM's enough to make them offers "they can't refuse". Otherwise, next season we could be smelling the butts of the goofers again. Ugh, that's ugly.

I think I would be interested in a hat like that. I've been trying to find a good Sioux hat but just can't find the right one. I liked a style that was avail a couple years ago but not any longer. This might be the next best thing.
-
How can we, it's been shut down! Just kidding. I would hope that wouldn't happen either.
-
I agree with skateshattrick but I hope they win for guys like Greyeagle but hope they lose for the majority of the rest.

Now don't prove me wrong..........

Heck of a game by the Wild the last 2 periods and heck of a game by Roloson for 3 periods.

MIP award validates what many of us thought of Lee Marvin as the season went on. Way to go Lee. Also, interesting that Prpich is a co-winner. He started a bit slowly but came on as the year went on. Maybe there weren't many expectations on him and he surprised people. Note that the winners were freshmen, not anyone from freshman to sophomore year or anything like that. Good progression for those guys. Way to go Notermann and Spiewak. A couple of very deserving awards.

No kidding! Good for Murphy. Can they expand their rosters for the playoffs? Or did they lose a defenseman? I suppose there is really only one way to replace a Sioux defenseman (Bombardir) on your roster. You have to call up ANOTHER Sioux defenseman (Murphy). That could be tough next year when Roche is getting a regular shift

Let's see. I'll bet it's more than I make in a year... Goon, I don't know any details. Go to the Siouxsports home page (go to the upper left corner of this page and hit "home"). That's where I noticed it.

This site confirms David signed with NJ. While I am sorry to see him go I would love to have seen him play one more year at UND, hopefully a healthy year. Imagine the impact he could have had if he was healthy for once? Can't blame him for taking his chance with the bigs when he can. I wish David all the best and thanks for 3 good years at UND. He deserves some good luck and maybe that will come for him now. Go David Hale!
