Make sure to send a message to Kessel if you go to the game that the fans in GF would welcome him "home".

I agree, Diggler. He's made his own bed and he's certainly had chances to realize the error of his ways. The guy doesn't have to play hockey. But he chooses too, and thinks that people owe him instead of having to earn his spot. My guess is he's real close to a real rock bottom experience of some kind.
-
I agree, Sagard. I don't think either of these will leave their teams "hanging". It's my belief that both coaches knew quite well what could transpire with these players over the summer, and they are prepared regardless of the final decisions each player makes.

You know, I was usually under the influence when I crossed the river into EGF. I've never been able to keep the cities straight...

Oh, that's embarrassing! I've corrected the original.

Rick Wilson - Dallas NHL Dave Tippitt - Dallas NHL John Marks - Greenville, ECHL Todd Jones - UNO NCAA Ian Kallay - MTU NCAA Lee Davidson - UMD NCAA Scott Sandelin - UMD NCAA Dave Hakstol - UND NCAA Brad Berry - UND NCAA Cary Eades - UND NCAA (recently of Warroad, MN) Jeff Bowen - formerly UND NCAA (Now with UND Alumni Assoc) Steve Johnson - Lincoln USHL Scott Koberinski - formerly USHL (now with REA) Tarek Howard - Grand Forks (Central), MN (formerly USHL) That's all I could come up with based on memory and those noted in this thread by others.

Same here. Kevin embodied what a Fighting Sioux is. He wasn't the most heralded player, but he quietly busted his butt on every shift. You could see how much he cared when he was on the ice. Fantastic on the penalty kill, and speed to burn. It was fun to watch him blow by unsuspecting defensemen.

Yes, Bush will soon be announcing a new addition to the "axis of evil". Iraq, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Libya, Syria and Eades.

I suspect UND is suddenly on the list because he'll be here for the WJ camp and will be able to see the facilities, etc. Therefore, might as well say that you are giving them a look, even if it is not serious. Seems like all the schools listed except a couple are schools he'll be visiting for camps/tournament type things. I think someone commented on another board that he'll be playing in BU's arena in the near future for some reason too.

Loose lips sink ships! Pretty cool story.

2002 Frozen Four at Xcel Center Cary Eades, who was sitting about a section away, came over to visit with 3 Fighting Sioux fans who were all decked out in our Sioux gear regardless of the fact our team was not present. We didn't know him and he didn't know us, just came over to say hi. Real nice guy and it was a pleasure to meet a Sioux great. Congratulations, Cary!

I don't think I'm qualified to answer that. But I'll give my opinion. I think Eades is a very acceptable candidate, and of the 2 I would have been happy with either Johnson or Eades, and that's only because I knew of them. I'm sure some of the other candidates would have been excellent choices too, I just don't know anything about them, so that limited my opinion. Eades has been a UND assistant previously. I like ties to the UND program. He's also a forward, and played at a high level. He was a "character" guy on teams he played on, played some pro hockey, and has had a successful coaching career at the level he's been at. For me, those are good qualifications for an assistant coach. Blais didn't have much better coming in as a head coach. Is Johnson even more qualified? I suppose that is possible. I'm just saying that I think Eades is strong enough.
-
That would be my guess too.
-
I only read the list that Sprig posted. That's all I know, but...... I know of only ONE "Archie".
-
I think it all depends on who is hired and how you think they might stack up. I think Johnson is a no-lose choice, but how could you fault the choice of Eades? I don't know anything about most of the candidates so would be hard to say who is the best choice. That said, Johnson is probably in the top couple of candidates I would like to see. Will be interesting to see how it shakes out.
-
People. Is there any other choice? GO ARCHIE!
-
That may not mean Johnson's been offered the job. If it is true, it could be that the assistant coach, who ever it is, will be named by that time.
-
Geez, you don't want people to think the search for the assistant coach was "botched" do you?
-
My guess is there will be other places for their prospects to play rather than sit.
-
I think he was there last year.
-
FT, that is no proof, even if you end up being right. For an optimist, you sure sound bitter.

Man, maybe I'm just naive, or maybe I've just not been paying attention. 1. I haven't seen any numbers bandied about. How do we know he's only getting a minimal signing bonus, etc. 2. How do we know that Bo hasn't kept the coaches informed of what has been going on, and his desires, since last spring? 3. How do we know that Bo WON'T develop even better in the AHL than in college? 4. How do we know he isn't getting a better offer now than he would get under a new bargaining agreement? If I miss any I'll add them later. Here's my opinion. I think a guy probably can develop even better in a team's AHL affiliate than they can in college. They are playing more games (although less practice), and playing against better opponents and with better teammates (my opinion). If I'm right, maybe Bo thinks it is time to move up the development ladder. I think it is shortsighted to think that the only place a player can develop is in college. Whatever $ Bo is being offered, it is apparently enough for him to make the decision. You can't blame Bo for when a decision is made, most likely. The big club is responsible for what they offer and when. The player has to make the best decision for them when they have the chance to make that decision. Some of the best advice I was ever given in my life was that NO ONE else was going to look out for #1. Only me. I need to make the decisions for my life that are important to me. Don't blame Bo if the opportunity presents itself. I'm extremely fortunate to have been able to watch one of the best Sioux players ever for the last 3 years. I'd love to have another year, but it doesn't look like it. It's Bo's life, and none of us know what the right decision is for him. We'll have to see what he feels is best.

Well, you ARE gopher fans.

I agree, PCM. James showed some real skill his sophomore year. If he can put last year behind him and build on that sophomore year, he could go a long way towards filling the scoring void left by Bo.
