I don't think Heisenberg's list is necessarily a predictor of the ranking of a recruit's value. I think he generally groups more sought after recruits at the top of his lists but hard to read too much into them I think. Still, it all looks positive though.

You need to get a copy of the book Fight On Sioux. It'll be a good primer, and yes, there WILL be a test. Welcome aboard! -
Who are you again?

I agree. The show is on the ice. Don't entice people to spend their time somewhere else. I sent a letter to the REA marketing department expressing my concerns that efforts to entertain the fans are going in the wrong direction. When I go to a game I want atmosphere, not distractions. The more people hang out away from the ice, the less atmosphere there will be. I'm beginning to think there's a good solution to my concerns and those of the students, and it will be attractive to the REA's bottom line too. Rip out the plush leather seats that are so comfy you don't want to stand up and install bleachers. We could get another 1000 students in the lower bowl, and your tired butt will be MUCH more willing to STAND UP AND CHEER, Stand up and cheer for North Dakota......!

Just recently someone posted a link to an article about Commie. I wish I could find it but I can't right now. Anyway, they asked him if he was going to get any cowboy duds now that he's in Calgary. He said probably not, but if he did he'd get a big belt buckle with the Sioux logo on it. Someone needs to point him to this link!

SMAAAHL Player of the Week I think he's the only 2 time winner of the POTW last year, and was voted Player of the Month for January (a month he didn't even win POTW) which shows consistency.
-
Heisenberg has him listed on his site too, so I think we've heard about this from enough angles to bank on it.

Oshie is going to play before and after his high school season at Sioux Falls Sioux Falls Stampede Website An auspicious start to his first game...

Thanks again for all the work that the rest of us can benefit from. I've said it before and I'll say it again. This is the best of the hockey forums I've seen. It really helps a fan who is not in Grand Forks to stay "close" to what is going on. Really enhances the fan experience. Thanks again.

http://www.thedakotastudent.com/vnews/disp...3/4152e048b772d I think this is good perspective.

I have and it has worked out great. Other than watching the first half of the first period on the little TV in the lobby....

If I remember correctly, back in my day every game was first come first served. Maybe that's another good way to make sure people can make it to at least some games if they really want to.

I mentioned this on another thread, but sell rush seating. However, instead of to the general public, it goes to those with student ID's. A small ticket fee can be paid so the REA can make some additional revenue. This idea works ever better with the plan the Sicatoka brought forth because in the scenario I just posted, if that sophomore didn't get tickets, they could still attend some games via rush seating, and increase their percentage of games attended. This would give them an advantage next year over an incoming freshman. This is coming together nicely!
-
How about percentage of games attended over the previous 3 years? That way the senior who has faithfully been going has a better shot in their last year than a sophomore who will have future opportunities.
-
Won't happen, but rather than rush seating, let those with student ID's (that match their face) fill unused seats at the 15 min mark. A small fee would suffice. This might give those students who lost out on the lottery situation another shot at getting in, and would generally get in the rowdiest fans. Not only that, but it might salt the audience with enthusiasm BTW, I think Mariucci sells rush seats starting at the 10 min mark.
-
Yeah, I was aware of that. I just wonder if they will be ready for playing in a competitive game (game shape).
-
Could be. But this guy just wants a Sioux jersey for himself. It's not anything for UND.

I think the assistant bears the majority of the load of ID'ing recruiting candidates, and sealing deals but the Head Coach swoops in where necessary to seal the deal with the most desired targets. With that in mind Hak's successful track record in recruiting should provide some security that he will continue to land top flight recruits. The wild card would be, and I'm guessing here, that the Head Coach has input into who the recruiting targets will be, and by presence alone provides motivation for a recruit to commit. Blais absence indeed leaves a void which may or may not be an issue in the future. I'm guessing Hakstol has enough experience and success here that we don't need to worry too much, and certainly don't need to lose sleep over the doom that a poster named "State of Hockey" might lay on our program.

If that is indeed the kind of player he is, what a great find.

I would also avoid those lower level section seats that always remain open after everything else is sold. There's a reason those lower level seats in prime positions go unsold until the last minute. As mentioned, avoid first row balcony. DECC is a fine old barn IMO.
