  1. Wasn't even worth commenting on..... The new logo is nice, but it's not the Blackhawk.
  2. I thought it was notable how the scout mentioned at the beginning of the year the game was almost unwatcheable due to the rule changes but by the end of the year the Sioux defense was awesome, it didn't obstruct, they just got in the way. I guess the rule changes worked.
  3. Well, I guess anything less than a national championship next year and it proves Hak is a big LOSER. Just kidding. Very interesting insight that would appear relevant to the current coaching situation here. Like jk said, it will be interesting to see how it plays out here. So far, I like how it's going!
  4. I think it was a very nice letter. This says pretty much what most of us have said in various ways: And this seems to be the positive reinforcement the fans deserve:
  5. Because they have other more experienced or skilled players to put on the ice? Let's not go Lucia on this one....
  6. I don't think it was any sort of threat, just pragmatism. If the older brother goes college, good chance the younger brother will too, so why waste a top pick?

    Walski

I tend to think there is a lot of sloppy "reporting" when it comes to college commitments and either the media doesn't do a good job of being specific about what "committing" or "signing" means or the person passing on what they saw often uses the term loosely. In this case I'm not commenting on Joelbird's accuracy, just making my own observation.

    I was there too

    Walski

    Walski was tied for 6th in save % in the NAHL this year at .916. Walski, Aaron BIS 34 1882:00 15 12 5 1 90(goals) 2.87 983(saves) .916 He's 5-11, 185#. So much too big to be a Sioux goalie.
  10. I know. That's why we always carry it across the border!
  11. I'm just sick and tired of watching NHL hockey when you compare it to college. At least in the playoffs there's a little less gooning it up and a bit more open play. I watched that NJ/Carolina game at a friend's place last night and it was better than regular season play, but there's just NO ROOM for the guys to skate with the puck. I thought it was interesting how Clement was comparing the flow of NHL play to what he saw in the NCAA playoffs.
  12. Wow, every year I go up to Canada camping and bring US Blue. Maybe I'll have to pick it up over the border this year.... I agree on the band. That would be my preference.
  13. I think Arneson just up and quit, but I'm not sure. Frankly, Arneson was a very talented player, but if we had such a talented player who did not play up to his full ability we'd be ripping on him constantly. See the month of January on this board if you think I am wrong....
  14. I hear they are hard after his younger brother, Gopher.
  15. I believe Brady seperated his shoulder? whereas Miller tore a rotator cuff. Redwing's brother might give us more detail, but I don't think they are very similar.
  16. First off I want to make clear that I'm not taking a position advocating making sure the students stand the whole game. I was only answering a question. On more than one occasion I've attended gopher basketball games at Williams arena. The student section on the end of the court stands the whole game. If your seats are behind the students, you know you're going to be standing as well. Frankly, it's been a few years now and I don't recall if I was actually IN the student section or behind it. Either way, the understanding was you were going to need to stand to watch the game. Frankly, I can understand why people like to stand the whole game. I like to. But I wouldn't argue it should be done at the expense of those around you. I don't have a problem if a particular section has a custom of standing for the whole game. You know if you are in that section, that's what you're going to do.
  17. If I remember correctly, a couple of years ago they roped off the top 2-3 rows of seats to allow the suite holders to see over the studenskies. The remaining blockage issues came from neighboring sections who had to see across the standing students to the far end of the ice. Moving the students to the end, AND roping off the top few rows SHOULD eliminate anyone's sight from being blocked. I realize the roping off part was not mentioned, so I'm not assuming what I just wrote is really the solution they are shooting for. As written I would agree with your question. Roped off, yes, it would appear the students could stand if they wish without blocking anyone.
  18. Hey, didn't Blais say he loved Goren as a recruit because "he could really throw 'em"?
  19. I understand where you are coming from. I've heard differently and that's why I wrote what I wrote.
  20. I haven't been all the excited about Reaney as a recruit after hearing (reading) some comments from fans up in the BCHL about possible weight issues, etc. However, IF it was true he was coming to the Sioux as a walk-on, I would be very excited. After Fournier I'm a bit gunshy of talented players who have weight or work ethic issues, relying on talent alone. However, if the guy wants to come in as a walk-on, what a great flyer to take! He either busts his butt to earn ice time or he busts. Little risk, potential for high gain.
  21. Sarcasm is lost on some.....
  22. Proving Lucia really isn't much of a coach. He had Paul Martin playing out of position!
