Extra punishment in Bemidji. Overtime at -17F temperatures. "Who wants it more" has never been more true. Edit: not sure they didn't move it inside...

North Dakota at Omaha - January 18-19, 2019

Cole Smith showing some jets on the breakaway. Reminds me of Chris Porter at times - great on his skates, reads plays well, doesn't score a lot. I hope he gets a shot in pro hockey, maybe able to build the scoring tools. -

If we want to get home ice for the first round of NCHC playoffs, a sweep at WMU may be what we need. They are on a roll. (But the top three are even farther away.) -
Watching St Cloud at UMD, and listening to the UMD announcers on the broadcast. I thought they were ridiculous homers when UND played there, but now listening again in a game I have no rooting interest, I'm even more convinced. SCSU op 3-2 early 3rd period.

"always"

Brad Schlossman's article on that team today was also really good. Those guys were real warriors.

I would be okay with a fight in the handshake line.

Upset watch on NBCSN Golden Gophers 4 Golden Domers 1, 2 minutes left.
-
Upset watch out east: BC 3, Providence 2. 7 minutes left.

Yes indeed. But to be fair, there were a couple really soft calls against his team too. Let's hope she doesn't ask Berry if any of UND's junior class will ever score...

Michigan State with a comeback win vs Ohio State. Four goals in the final 6:05 of regulation, then a GWG in 2nd OT. One upset in the Big Ten tonight, and another in the making where Gophers lead Penn State 1-0 after 1. Game on ESPNU.
-
I'd predict its Dallas vs Washington. (Cowboys-Redskins history plus Ovechkin ...)

Saw his name in a Yale article and had to check to see its the same guy ... now an assistant coach there. Who'da thunk it?

I'm enjoying a few minutes of the Great Lakes Invitational championship game featuring the two WCHA schools: Michigan Tech vs Lake Superior St. As has happened in a lot of tournaments lately, the Big Ten schools played for the consolation.

Final from a packed Mariucci tonight: Ferris 3, Minnesota 2. I know it nicks our strength of schedule but that was still fun to watch. Maybe Minnesota should steal SCSU's head coach again .... might work eventually.
-
Looks like another sellout crowd at Mariucci 3M.
-
After two periods, Canisius 2, Union 1. Go, strength of schedule!

All I've got so far is the MSU radio: https://tunein.com/radio/KTOE-1420-s35726/ Later on, for the ASU game (I hope): https://thesundevils.com/schedule.aspx?path=mhockey

I'd say don't go unless you already have tickets ... and it may be smaller than Purpur.

Tonight, take a shot everytime we get a shot on goal.

Fabulous, insightful articule about last night's Gopher hockey game in the Star Tribune. http://www.startribune.com/gophers-michigan-tie-in-big-ten-hockey/502228591/ /sarcasm off

Forty years ago (whoa), Rick Wilson was one of the assistant coaches teaching skating as a PE credit. If he could teach me backward crossovers, he can teach anyone anything. Certainly as Chuck Fletcher was looking around for someone to fix the D at Philly, with Rick Wilson on board, that component of their team play will be fine. Now if they can fix their goaltending ...

Chiming in with one comment on the weekend's powerplay, that noone has mentioned (that I saw). UMD's PK is #1 in the nation. That's despite playing arguably the toughest schedule in the country so far. I can think of several excellent plays where we were foiled by a great save or a nice defensive play. Credit to the opponent (this week), would be my viewpoint. Along with Schlossman's note about injuries.
