  1. I'll bet money they do a throwback for the 2008-2009 season, which is the 50th anniversary of the first National Championship for UND hockey. Might make a little less likely for this season...
  2. When Dave Hakstol goes to a little league game, NOBODY, and I mean NOBODY, yells at the umpires.
  3. General Zod kneels before Joe Finley.
  4. More CCHA draftees (26) than WCHA (25). More top-end talent moving their way (esp Notre Dame)? or is it the CCHA style of play (more grind it than WCHA) ...? or just that they have 12 teams vs 10?
  5. All the NHL GM's are a lot stupider than they were last year, the year before, and the year before the year before.
  6. Wanna see how fast Oshie can skate around the rink? [0.1 second pause] Wanna see it again?
  7. So, Ottawa will be looking to add goons to their team. That's good news for next year's Sioux ...
  8. If you go to the BC-NE weekend, I would highly recommend renting a car and cruising up north (VT, NH, ME) for a fall leaf tour. It is stunningly beautiful up there that time of year.
  9. ... and Cary Eades faked a broken leg...
  10. The Earth is safe from asteroids for the next year. Asteroids know if they hurt Ryan Duncan they'd have to deal with the Wrath of Radke.
  11. The Conspiracy would not allow Zach and Jordan on the same team. It just wouldn't be fair to the rest of the league.
  12. Goaltender = Adam Hauser.
  13. Lake of the Woods was formed when TJ Oshie checked Paul Bunyan's butt halfway to Canada.
  14. Joe Finley played football at Edina. He was the offensive line. The whole line.
  15. Sure. Can I have yours?
  16. Fighting Sioux fans are so great, other fans ask Sioux fans for their autographs.
  17. The guys in the Farce have skeletons in their closet. Little rodent skeletons.
  18. Radke has shown to be a character kind of guy, who'll switch positions to help the team, and who'll go back to D when needed ... every team needs that kind of contribution.
  19. Another in a long, VERY long line of Winnipeg natives to play for UND. We've been blessed with many - Toews and Goren off the top of my head, I'm sure others can name more - and it is cool their family can get to see them a lot. GOT-cha line, anyone?
  20. Blessings: First and foremost, we're blessed by the way our team and coaching staff represents the University. They are great ambassadors, and its been that way for a long time. (I've talked to several Maine fans who get very emotional thinking about when UND donated the Walsh jerseys.) Second, related to the first, if you're a Sioux, there's no such thing as a meaningless game. Every time they put on the jersey, they play with pride, the first game of the season, to the rare 3rd place game, to the Frozen Four. I love that, and it does distinguish UND from certain other schools. Third, related to the first two, the players are aware of the tradition, and respect it. For those of us that have been fans for 30+ years, us old guys, its really refreshing to see the "old-fashioned" values of respecting your elders. There's reasons Hrkac called Duncan to say congrats on the Hobey, and that's a credit to how aware Ryan is of the tradition. Fourth, I love the fan loyalty. Go to a Sioux game anywhere and I'll guarantee someone else is there wearing a Sioux jersey. Sometimes (Mankato, Denver pre-'03), the visiting fans can get to be as loud as the homies. I'm sure I'll think of more later, but I'll stop now.
  21. He pretty much led the frickin league in plus-minus. You don't do that without playing D. [/end stereotype] That said, I can't disagree with the comment about last night's game.
  22. Jonathan, THANKS for a great couple years. I enjoyed watching you do so very many things well, and hope to see you continue improving. I enjoyed watching you school guys on faceoffs, especially in the defensive and offensive zones. I enjoyed watching you play sound positional hockey in the defensive zone. I enjoyed that no-look sniper goal against Northeastern. (I think it was Northeastern ...) I enjoyed watching you school Jeff Frazee at the WJC, and later with a Sioux jersey back on. I enjoyed watching the chemistry with your mates. You're in for great things. Thanks for letting us share part of it. Come back and see us sometime.
  23. Great find; thanks for posting. Talk about level headed: "...It's pretty unbelievable. The credit goes to all my teammates and coaches and everyone that's a part of it. I just kind of show up and get a gold medal every time."
  24. The nets behind the goals at the Ralph keep pucks and opposing forwards from flying into the stands.
  25. JRR Tolkien interviewed Gino Gasparini before writing The Lord of The Rings.
