The movie "Happy Gilmore" was originally based on a bad day Taylor Chorney had on the golf course.

Great catch. I was wondering if he did as well at that level on face offs as he did at UND. Welcome to SS.com by the way.

Basically, Toews with a Maple Leaf is unbeatable. Congratulations to Mike Commodore and Jonathan Toews, and to our Neighbours to the North. A good day indeed, eh.

Johnny!!!! with a shot at ANOTHER Gold Medal tomorrow. Today, in the semifinal, he gets the eventual game-winning goal. Nice pic on the iihf website along with the article. http://www.ihwc.net/english/article/recaps...&artId=2677 A little more than a minute later, Jonathan Toews made it 2-0 with a great goal. Jordan Staal had the puck behind the net and slipped it to Toews at the side. He barged his way in front and while falling and being checked he slid the puck to the far side. [stops to pinch self "nope, I'm awake"] A 19-year-old player at the University of North Dakota got the game winning goal in the World Championship semifinal. I think he should make a career of playing full time for Canada ... talk about your national heroes.

I think golf shoe makers should make shoes that automatically drain sand. Once I asked my dad what was the problem with my golf game. He said "You're standing too close to the ball. After you hit it."
-
Once I was golfing and got stuck in a sand trap long enough my playing partners said I should pitch a tent.

"So you're saying I DO have a chance then! YYYYYYEEEESSSSS!!!"

Thanks for the link. ALSO, its well worth watching the video highlights of the CAN-SVK game. Near the end, his teammates are raving about Toews' play.

I'm just STAGGERED that they couldn't fit Denver into the top 15. DU has a load of returning talent, including notably proven goaltending. I would have DU as a top 5 team in 2008. ... and if Cory Schneider returns, BC instantly becomes the prohibitive national favorite. I agree with their top 4, but after that, I'd be disagreeing.

Great overtime between Buffalo and New York.

Dear Parise, where's the goalie?

"We just won tickets in the Bud Light section!!!"

Gee thanks. I feel much better. OK, I'm getting old.
-
Dang, you're fast.

The events of those days are still vivid, but it all happened so fast its just a blur. I lived in the Twin Cities, but have a lot of family and friends in town. We got into town just after midnight on the 19th, and I will never forget the horror of driving across the Kennedy Bridge, seeing the water rushing down and knowing the Sherwood Park and Riverside bowls would inevitably fill. After that, 96 hours without sleep, the column of smoke from downtown, endless helicopters and sirens, a battle eventually lost, a canoe ride out, going home having failed but determined to help and recruiting volunteers for the cleanup, the once-a-weekend round trip up, fatigue after the adrenalin ran out. What I'll remember most are the people, especially during cleanup, who were going through so much but so grateful. (I'd spend a weekend trudging through sewage in their basements, but I got to go home to my undamaged home on Monday morning.) Even today, I'll get bear hugs and thank yous. It is indeed humbling to be remembered, 10 years later, http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/i...rilyn%20Hagerty I learned that if you do your very best and still fail, there's never any regrets to live with. I learned that timing is everything. I learned that a Saturn will float. I learned that underneath the calm, stoic exteriors, people here really do care about each other. I learned not to open a freezer after the power's been off a month. I learned that 20,000 sandbags aren't that heavy if you have friends. Having season tickets in the new Ralph, I get back a lot, and the recovery has been remarkable. "Is this heaven? Almost. Its Grand Forks."

As a hockey geek, I also get excited seeing Ryan Miller make TWO melon saves tonight. Isles look to have decent jump.

(Versus broadcast) Christie Brinkley in an Islanders jersey.

Tim Duncan is totally full of __it. All he's doing is working the refs early (for the playoffs). Crawford has been reffing forever, and Duncan knows exactly where the line is...
