The Pairwise Ratings have correctly predicted the tournament field for the last 20+ years. They are also committed to placing tournament hosts in their home regional. Beyond that is where uncertainty lies. Specifically, does the Committee protect the #1 ans #2 overall seeds? (The Committee Chair this year is from Vermont FWIW.) Also, and related, how far do they bend to avoid intra-conference matchups in round one?

To my (non-expert) eyes, Blake's neutral zone play, post-New Year, has gotten much more consistent: safer with the puck, while maintaining use of speed and hands to disrupt opponents. Same for defensive zone play.

With 5 NCHC teams in the field - which would be cool if it happens - the committee could and probably would accept first round matchups between NCHC teams. In the above scenario, Sioux Falls would be (could be) UND vs UNO and UMtc vs CC.
