For what it's worth, Hakstol commented on Finehage's hard work at the end of last year, battling to get into the lineup. I don't think the work ethic goes on/off like a light switch.

After reading Brad's post again about Finehage/Kamploops, something doen't seem right. Brad said that Finehage "may have to estimate how much he's going to play next season." It's the coaches, not Finehage, that created the situation to have as many as 10 D on scholarship next year, if Genoway stays and Forbort, Mattson, Simpson all come next year, and that doesn't count Davidson either. We also hear about "the program" and quotes from players referring to sticking with the program when times get tough. I know it would be inconvenient for everyone if Finehage stayed next year but why shouldn't he stay and be part of the "program" - doesn't the "program" come before the individual? Bottom line - the coaching staff has put this young man in a tough position - they convinced him to come here to play college hockey - if they don't want him around next season they should man up and do it face to face. And another thing - we have a published report about a Jr. team commenting about a current Sioux player - where is the reaction from the UND coaching staff and Finehage - did you pick up the phone, Brad?

With the injury to Gleason and the Frattin suspension, it will be interesting to see what the coaches come up with for PP combinations. Lapoint/Marto & Kristo/Blood on the points? Due to the possibility of playing 3 games again this weekend, it will be interesting to see if the coaches extend the bench and let players like Finehage and Davidson have some PK time (not together) and give some of the regulars a shift off.

If it's not WCHA, it doesn't matter Didn't realize he was only a soph - quite a story on his progression from CA to the NHL, not the typical development path. http://www.startribune.com/blogs/87781212....QiU17cQiU47cQUU

I believe the only way we stay away from BC is if we are both #1 seeds or both #2 seeds. I believe we can both be #1 seeds if we go 3-0, Wisco goes in the tank, and BC goes 2-0. If that happens, hello Albany.

From NCAA rulebook (sorry if someone else posted earlier, I may have missed it) Charging SECTION 6. a. A player shall not skate more than two steps or jump into or charge an opponent. Charging is the action of a player, who as a result of distance traveled, checks an opponent violently in any manner from the front or side. Note: A fair body check is one in which a player checks an opponent who is in possession of the puck, by using the hip or body from the front or diagonally from the front or straight from the side. PENALTY

If we win 3 and either Wiso lose 2/BC loses to Vmt, we jump to 3. I would prefer the Wisco lose 2 scenerio, because both BC and UND would be #1 seeds, and we would stay out of Worcester. The game reminded me of our last loss in St. Cloud - we win territorialy, but we do not get the big save from our goalie and theirs stands on his head. If Eideness is in position - out of the paint - on goals 2 and 3, the puck hits him (even if he doesn't see it) and we still win. The team that will win Sunday will be the one with the best goaltending play - I hope we see the Eids that we saw during our win streak. And stop looking for excuses (diving, refs) - just beat them like we did Friday.

no - only top 25 rpi, not tournament auto bids.
-
What's good to see in the UMTC graphic is that even if they get swept, they more than likely will stay in the top 25 RPI ranking and remain a TUC. Our 2 wins vs. a TUC will help us climb the PWR ladder to possibly a #1 seed. Just keep winning.

Saw a few games there - my first was Feb '79, as the Sioux were on there way to a McNaughton cup. The place was rocking to start the game, and then Sioux (Taylor or Christian) scored 10 seconds into the game and the place was pretty quiet the rest of the weekend as UND went on to sweep the Badgers. Sat next to the Sioux bench (the one on the right side).

Brett's dad is Ron Hextall, not Dennis - they are related, though.

Officiating Crew for First Round of the WCHA tourney, Goofs vs. UND

All of you conspiracy theorists are confusing incompetency/poor officiating for fixing/rigging/cheating. Do we really want to be that stupid go there? The best is G Shepp - the rest are awful, not cheaters. Don't forget - practically all the tix for the F5 are sold. If we make to the F5, every game we play in will sell out. Let's talk about how soft the Gophers are, talk about Lucia/Hill coaching - anything but this (and how it is conspiracy that the Gophers have to play on Fri nite at the F5 and that the F5 is always in St. Paul). Let's move on please. -
Now that we are at #5 in the PWR with 19 comparisons won, can we move up? http://siouxsports.com/hockey/rankings/pwr...ls.php?teamid=0 We currently are losing comparisons with Denver: 0-4 head-to-head make that comp next to impossible to flip Miami: they have too big a margin in all the categories (RPI/TUC/COP) to realistically flip. BC: even if we win 4 and they go 2 and out it will still be hard to flip this one. Alaska: TUC and COP are close - we could flip this one. Wisconsin: best case is to face them in F5 and beat them - this would even out the H2H. If we go on a run we could overtake them in RPI and maybe COP, then we could flip this one as well. One huge key is to have UMTC stay a TUC after we beat them Fri/Sat. Thoughts?

Remember INCH is a projection of where they believe the brackets will be when they are announced. USCHO (and CHN) projects the brackets if the season ended today.

... or do you just wish he were a Red Wing? He's a big deal - he's a first round pick, he's won a cup and scoring titles - why wouldn't the league/media promote that - it would be dumb not to. I would take Ovy vs. Sid but both are legit - if you are a fan of the sport you should celebrate excellence. Don't be jealous.

Did you notice the section titled "Fratt Party" - probably not the best title, given his up and down road with the team/school the past 12 months. FRATT PARTY: Junior F Matt Frattin (Edmonton, Alberta) scored his first two goals of the season on Saturday, collecting both in a four-minute span late in the first period. Frattin's second goal came shorthanded, the first shorthanded tally of his career and UND's third of the season. He also led all players with a season-high seven shots on goal.

Molenaar was at REA in Oct for the Fri UMinn game - he was behind the bench with other recruits, including Brock Nelson so it was probably an official visit. I hope they are after the Rau's as well - we need more forwards that score.

Kind of dumb to bolt on both Dean Blais and Dave Hakstol.

I guess that's why you are a goon
