  3. I would consider coming back from a season ending concussion is adversity - it appears you haven't recovered from yours.
  4. It is broken - our PP numbers are terrible. Put the scorers up front and keep the playmakers on top.
  5. Agreed - with everyone healthy Forbort/Genoway Simpson/Marto combos would be effective. Forbort and Simpson are good "distributors" - they both move the puck quickly and can find the open man. While Frattin has a great shot from the point, he would be better up front on the half-wall, waiting for a cross-box pass and a one timer. Ditto for Kristo.
  6. St. Paul/South Suburbs as well - nice.
  7. I bet they will bring in an older D recruit with size that can play right away to compliment smaller puck-movers like Gleason/Simpson/Mattson. Blood (don't think he's a flight risk) McWilliam Gleason Forbort Simpson Mattson Recruit Hill
  8. He's still in the top 30 according to ISS rankings.
  9. I don't like Gwoz but I don't get the consternation over his comments re: Martin/Malone. He said that he thought the hit deserved a penalty - period. I didn't hear him rant about Malone/Sioux being dirty or anything like that.
  10. Watch an NHL game an see how rare it is that the D leave the front of the net open when the other team has the puck. They play the game from the middle out. The center is supposed help down low but you can't hold him responsible when the D blows his assignment.
  11. Our defenseman did not have to leave the front of the net wide open to chase a DU player behind the goalline, who was not an immediate threat. Nelson's the one who looks bad, this is what got us in trouble in Maine - D being out of control and leaving the middle of the rink wide open. Goal 3 was the same - both D ended up on their butt when all they had to do was stay calm, stay on their feet, and keep the play outside so the goalie has a poor angle stop to make. Blood was a pylon on goal 2.

  13. I disagree on the "playmaker" label for Kristo - Kristo is a finisher and when he gets the puck below the blueline he is usually the one taking the shot - not looking for a pass/play to be made.
  14. Another difference between UND and UMTC is that the Goph's rarely travel out of their comfort zone - when's the last time they traveled to HE for a game? The Sioux do it regularly.
  15. I think they are on the right track by adding Lammy with Kristo and Nelson. Kristo/Cichy are similar kinds of players (Kristo better of course) and putting Lammy on W instead gives the line more grit/balance.

  17. I would suspect SCSU has the inside track on Johnson - the asst. coach knows him very well :-)
  18. I would bet his sources have a connection to the UMTC program - which is why I suspect they might lose him since they have leaked via Hammy that they are "cooling" on AJ.
  19. http://twitter.com/hammyhockey Note Hammy's tweet re: Michaelson and "lack of progress" and potential "cooling" by the Gophers? Maybe Michaelson is "cooling" on the Gophers? Is Hammy setting up the usual "we didn't really want him" scenario when the Gophers don't get a local recruit? Stay tuned.
  20. I'm sure the staff brought him in, knowing his situation, expecting him to play - I don't think he was brought in as "insurance" if injuries occur. As I said before, barring injuries, this could be our "regular" lineup by Christmas (mix size and speed in pairings) Genoway/Forbort Blood/Simpson Marto/Lapoint
  21. 1. He will need to play to develop. 2. It is his draft year - it would be good for him and the program if his draft stock went up and not down this year. The only way his stock goes up is if he plays. I'm sure the coaching staff will do what's best for the team = what would be good is to have a talented/highly touted prospect get better under their watch.
  22. In St. Paul, I've noticed the same audio issue on NHL network - it does go away when you turn the the NHL Network on HD.
