Obscurity is more national TV exposure? Having more big name schools (read schools, not just college hockey teams) on the schedule will help national exposure for people who aren't familiar with hockey. Ohio State vs. Michigan state is a MUCH more recognizable rivalry than Denver vs. UND for those people who don't closely follow NCAA hockey (which is everyone). Yes, people are upset that things are changing. Change is scary, change is different. I tend to be of the belief that the road might be rocky but in the end playing in a hockey conference with major schools will be not only good for UMN, but good for college hockey in general.

ESPNU is broadcasting games live so I believe that means FSN can not pick them up.

Problem with your Duluth/Denver theory is both of those teams was built around solid goal tending, something this team is not getting at this point in the season.

Jonny hockey was going to win it anyways. Only thing that would change anyones mind is if someone absolutely goes off in a conference tourny (ie Dave Spihar state tournament performance). Highest PPG in hockey for a sophomore on a winning team in a big time conference wins the HB.

Give me a break. Premier programs (UND, UMN, UM, BC) ALWAYS have pressure and are ALWAYS expected to win and compete for a national championship. UND wins that game with Zane in net and whoever the 'third' guy is on the first line just isn't clicking with Knight and Nine-toe.

Michigan has a TON of tallent, if they can get some decent goal tending I wouldn't want to play them in a single elimination game.

Kyle Rau is only a career point-per-game player because of Nick Bjugstad. If you watch the Gophers play, Bjugstad clearly stands out as the most dominate player on the team. When he goes into the corner to get a puck 95% of the time he comes out with it and makes the defender look like a child. He didn't put enough points up this season to be on the first team, but he needs to be on everyone's ballot.

I guess I don't remember his stick getting into the DU player's face. I thought his head hitting the ice is what made him groggy.

I believe UND fans call that "Old Time Hockey". The hit happened immediately after the shot, hard for the puck to be long-gone. (and they did show a couple of replays of that hit trying to figure out what happened) When I saw the hit I didn't think a penalty should be called, the puck was there and the DU player was already going down to block it (which he did) and that made the contact worse.
