If that’s the case then I would allow just as many reserved seats at the Ralph for their players.

Back in the day the scratches would typically be in the press box not the seats

The Season has ended in big step backwards from last year. The team dropped from 19 wins to 9 wins and ending season with 6 place finish. We were last in so many statistics for the Summit in following scoring margin,3pt. percentage, last turnover margin, assist / turnover margin, and last in assists. In most of stats for the conference we were 6 or worse. The only positive we were better in totals for rebounding but again margin of rebounds to opponents were 6th. Then we are losing Kacie Borowicz who accounted for 29% of our scoring and Sammiyah Hoskins who was solid player that provided us rebounding.

The question for coming year who will step-up and provide leadership for this team. We have Pemberton and Hurst our next leading scorers who will be returning. We have 3 recruits coming in Schiller, Mathern, and Volmer with one scholarship yet to fill. We will need to develop our young players and improve on our fundamentals to turn this ship around for the coming year.

I'm hopeful that Schiller brings a winning attitude to the locker room.  I can see her helping turn things around, or hitting the portal within a year.  Team didn't seem to develop at all, which is very concerning.  another sub 10 win season and I think you have to look hard at a coaching change.

do the other 3 dak schools have / pay this?

It's a pretty basic HR role in any decent sized operation, I'd be pretty shocked if they don't.  She's also a contractor, so this is clearly on an as needed basis, which makes sense.

I bet we see at least one conference tourney upset which puts the magic PWR number to 13.
With CC/UNO/WMU at 11/12/13, that makes things really tight especially if Prov (14) or UMass (15) move up (they actually play each other next in the HEA quarters).
It may very well be win or go home for most of those teams...would be interesting to look at options if any of those NCHC teams win or lose in 3 games to see if that still keeps them above the cut line.

losing in 3 should be ok.  Remember that other than the conference champion, everyone is going to take a loss at some point, so not everyone can move up.  Plus the strength of the NCHC and those bubble teams playing each other will help out there respective strength of schedule.  If Western can sweep SCSU, they will also flip there comparison by evening up head to head and they would probably be solidly in the tournament.  CC also flips their comparison with Omaha if they win the series, even in 3 games.  St. Cloud would need a lot of help to get an at large, sweeping Western would keep the door open, but it's not very wide.

Hope I'm wrong but seemed like UND was playing their best hockey up thru the DU away series.  Been a little uneven since then.

If Zmolek is back for the home stretch I like our chances.

    Miami @ UND

    Duluth @ Denver

    Western @ SCSU

    Omaha @ CC

I think it's a safe bet to take all the home teams.  Maybe a third game in Stearns County, but I've got each home team advancing.

Top 2 in home sweeps, Western in road sweep and CC in 3.  That probably results in 5 NCHC teams making the tourney, barring stunners in Big 10 and Hockey East.  I think CC Omaha winner is a tourney lock, and unless a sweep loser is pretty well positioned.  Western should be in if they get by SCSU, Huskies probably need to get to the final to be in.  Duluth is probably in the "so you're saying there's a chance" realm, and Miami should just dust off the golf clubs.

  7. UND is moving in the right direction. Would like to see a deeper rotation next year, should have confidence in more than just 7 guys.  Also need to work on D and definitely up the shooting percentage from 3 if we are going to continue shooting at volume. Despite the Onaha loss I feel better about BB next year than I do FB.

No excuse for losing that game. Kings charge was a huge turning point. Just f’ing stupid playing.

2 threes on final possessions didn't help. Take it to the bucket. Probably should have taken a TO when they cut ut to 3. We looked a little lost.  If this really stings, could motivate everyone to work harder for next year.

  9. Like to see a little more lateral puck movement especially 5 on 3. Had the same issue the 5 on 3 last week against Western. I know we've had success with the screener, but I wouldn't mind seeing us make the goalie move a little more.

You also can't lose in regulation if you don't play.

Thanks for the insight. I get that. Yet despite missing the tournament 3 times, we still have a natty during Berry's reign as well as as the what if of 2020. To act like he won a natty in year 1 and has been uncompetitive since is just wrong. His 2 best teams since 2016 faced outcomes that had no precedent. We'll see what happens this year.

    Yes we know

how many wins in ncaa tourney since then

To be fair, Berry has never lost an NCAA tourney game in regulation. Puck luck is a funny thing in a one and done and we don't have any clunkers where we didn't show up.

That must have been during the period between the WIHL and WCHA. I believe the WIHL folded over teams using overage Canadians. And I believe Minnesota was the driving force behind that. I guess some things truly never change.

    Yes. 1959. UNDs first title.

Ok there we go again. Conference titles > nattys

im in disagreement. I’d rather have nattys

UND has typically won its nattys by knocking on the front door as a conference champ vs sneaking in the back by just getting lucky and banking on 2 good weekends.

Fun fact, UND is last independent to win a natty.

What do you have against St. Thomas? They are not just another MIAC school anymore. They have a large, successful and loyal alumni base. They have excellent academics. They are in the Twin Cities media market. They are building a new arena for basketball and hockey. They moved up to Division I when they could have moved up to Division II and settled for life in the NSIC.

They are a sleeping giant that won't be asleep for long. They have GIGANTIC upside and I am sure the B1G would love to have them as their 8th member for hockey. That is why the NCHC has to get to them first. They are a great addition to the Summit League and would make a great 10th member of the NCHC.

So far, the only complaint you have come up with about UST is that they are in Minnesota. Do you have anything else to your position than that?

I have nothing against them, I just need evidence rather than handing them things on potential.

To the the big ten has any interest in them is delusional.  First, Minnesota would never let that happen and they in no way have a brand that would merit inclusion either as a school or hockey program. They are not Notre Dame or Johns Hopkins, the only Big Ten affiliates.

The fact that they went non schollie in football shows they don't have a bottomless pit of cash for athletics.

So I don't have anything against them, but just because they had some success when they were a big fish in a small pond, I'm not convinced they will become some kind of juggernaut.  DU has the same advantages and more visibility nationally but by no means dominate in the Summit League. I need to see some evidence of prolonged success before I fear losing them to greener pastures.

5 but not 6. Duluth ain't making it.

I meant everyone pound Duluth, bot Omaha. Right now UND and Demver are locks. CC, st Cloud, western and Omaha are all in top 16 and if things break right all 4 could get to top 14.

  16. If nchc teams can keep drilling Miami and Omaha, there is a possibility of getting 6 teams in. CC at least splitting with Denver would really help them and then the 3-6 and 4-5 matchups going 3 games would prevent any huge drops.  The leagues strength us showing itself as the season winds down. Should UND claim the Penrose, it will be an impressive accomplishment.

This sounds like cutting off your nose to spite your face - assuming the hypothetical St. Thomas is a good fit for the hockey conference.

What does St Thomas add. ASU besides being a national brand gives recruiting exposure to the Southwest and a highly desirable road trip during the winter hockey months.   If they are at a Big East level in basketball,  I'd be stunned if they would still be making the commitment to hockey that wed want to see in an NCHC school.  I this it's highly likely that in this time frame that you'd see BC in the Big East as they are a likely big loser in football based realignment.

@Yote 53, that makes sense but the Montanas lose their CA exposure for recruiting. That's a non-starter.

If you dropped idaho state for UMKC for all sports, you could add the 3 Cali schools for football only to get to 12. For non football you'd have I29 Division and West Division, for football have 3 pods, Dakota 4, Cali plus Weber, and montanas, unc,Idaho.

Play all your podmates and 3 of four in other pods for 9 games. Everyone gets at least 1 game in Cali every year and travel partners for other sport are ideal with possible exception of Idaho-weber (or you go idaho-monrana and weber-msu as travel partners)

I see UST following a Creighton, Marquette, DePaul, et al "Big East" (Catholic schools, no football) path down the road.

Loyola is in Chicago, has an NCAA title and a recent iconic Final Four run and was only able to parlay that into the A10. I know a lot on here seem bullish on the Tommies, but the Big East is a long way off if ever.
