  1. Now let's keep the foot on the gas and put this out of reach, then get jerry and some of the other backups some reps in the 2nd half.  The lengthy clock eating drives are a huge weapon if we can keep that up. Passing is coming around, Simon seems clearly more comfortable on the rollout so hopefully can work with that. Slant is another potent arrow in the quiver.

  2. Could see PAC? also added Air Force and UNLV, that would take the MWC down to 5 and they could fortify by adding 7 (Montana, Dakotas and Idaho).  I think Davis could jump to the PAC if they wanted to.  Academic cred is there and would jump them a lot closer atheletically to their sibling schools in Cal and UCLA

How many years since we had a good kicker? We haven’t tried a 50+ yd FG in how long now?

Agreed from arguably 1985 to about 2010 we had an amazing run of kickers and then just haven't been able to connect in the D1 era. It's been a big difference maker we've been missing.

Right, but the very top players are choosing Big10 and HE at a significantly higher rate the last couple years. Doesn’t mean they’ll win, but it can help and it’s fun to have players go to the NHL.

I don't think there's been much change. Bc and BU have always gotten big eastern players and with ntdp in their backyard Michigan has gotten big names as have Minnesota and Wisconsin. If there was a flow of guys to Penn St Merrimack or Vermont I'd agree we were seeing a shift, but UND and DU are still getting big names with other NCHC pulling an occasional blue chip. Will be interesting to see how ASU recruiting differs with then now in the conference.

Lagging in what respect, visibility? The NCHC has won 6 NC since the realignment, Big 10 zero & Hockey East a couple, I think. If anything, the exact opposite is true. There's no comparison, the NCHC dominates when it matters.

Attendance and fan interest is also far superior in the NCHC.  It also a much deeper league, where there are fewer easy wins.  Hockey East also benefits from more non con games against Atlantic Hockey where you can pad the stat sheet. The NCHC is very much an "iron sharpens iron" league.

Yost is high on my to do list; can anyone confirm if it's as special as it seems?

If you want vibes and history, Hobey Baker rink at Princeton was top notch, same with Matthews Arena in Boston, but that's falling to the wrecking ball soon.  Yost is OK, but nothing special hockey wise, kind of like if you retrofitted a hockey rink into the Hyslop.  I was pretty underwhelmed.  Cornell is solid, BU, BC and Harvard rinks are pretty non-descript. A couple trips I'd like to do are SLU-Clarkson, Maine, and Michigan Tech.  Tech's resurgence makes that seem like it could be a fun one.  An early October series would be a great time to see the fall colors in the UP as well.

I expected a far worse loss.  Overall there were alot of positives.  I am excited to see us against Montana next week.  Go sioux.

There are definitely things to take from this game that can be learned from.  I'm excited about the new OC, with time I think he can make some things happen.  I don't know how we struggle so much with kickers when we play indoors and should be able to recruit better there.  For years, that was a constant UND strength.  Defense has to make some plays, and can't expect we will have lopsided TOP every game.

I do trust the coaches who actually evaluate the quarterbacks in person. This idea that Feeney and Kaminiski were going to be really good was pure speculation and hope; no substance to any of it.

Conversely that doesn't say a lot about about the recruiting of those guys and developing them.  Maybe the HS QBs that are coaches kids are higher floor lower ceiling than  another kid with a similar talent level who is more raw but has a lot more room for growth.

Guessing he’s a liability in that department. Makes you wonder though how he got the nod.

Football IQ, game management, scrambling, reading the defense? A little early to throw him under the bus after 2 possessions.
