  1. I was told that if you buy the $100 package that you can go back and watch the game later for free. But if you buy the individual games you have to watch it live.
  2. Don't keep hitting "Watch Show"... I think it will delete from your 5 view balance
  3. I had a "Don't Puck with the Sioux" shirt... from around 89-90 I think.
  4. You have to look further down the page to find the link that says "click here to listen to football broadcast". This one is still free.
  5. I agree that there may be too many graphics, but overall, I am very pleased with the quality. It's not like watching it on the tube, but I have enjoyed it. If I were a huge football fan, I would likely subscribe to the service. I am very intersested in the quality of the hockey broadcast. I don't expect it to be be as good as the football but if I can still follow the game I'll pay the $100 to be able to watch most of the games... it's a great deal for someone like me who lives far away and can't possibly make it to the games.

I have a cable modem and the video comes through pretty good. Certainly not like watching it on TV, but worth the price I think. For anyone that still uses dial-up, you may try contacting your cable provider to see if they offer package discounts for cable TV, telephone, and internet. I ended up doing that and now pay a little less each month than when I had each service with a different provider and dial-up access. Anyone know if we will be able to watch the games at any time, or if we will have to watch them live? I'm sure my girlfriend would appreciated it if I wasn't positioned in front of the computer every Friday and Saturday night this winter.... although she is surprisingly understanding and supportive of my addiction.
  7. I've always liked "I wanna drive the Zamboni" by the Gear Daddies... though I haven't been to a Sioux home game in sveral years so I don't know if they play anymore.
  8. As a result of my buddy and his wife not being able to make it out to Buffalo, NY this year, I have two tickets for this years Frozen Four for sale. I'd like to offer them up first to any Sioux fans planning on making the trip (regardless if the Sioux are there or not). I'll sell them for face value... can't remember what they cost off the top of my head $120 or $140 each I think. On the plus side, the seats are pretty good... row 7, section 108 I think. It's on the penaly box side of the rink, around the blue line. On the down side, you'll have to sit next to me and my girlfriend and, depending on who's playing, watch me slip in and out of various stages of a malted hopps induced trance. If you're interested, just reply to this post with your contact info, and we'll work out the details.
  9. I disagree with standardizing the rink size. Baseball wouldn't be baseball with standardized measurements. So for much of the same reasons I enjoy the added wrinkle that different rink sizes add to the game of hockey. Wouldn't it be sweet to see a game played on a rink shaped like (and the size of) the old Polo Grounds?
  10. I know that Lee did not like the previous Providence coach (Bill Armstrong I think it was). Had he (Armstrong) stayed at Providence, I think it would have been very likely that Lee would have seriously "explored his options" after becoming a free agent at the end of last year. I, for one, am glad he stayed in Providence and am sure he will be back up with Boston before long. Lee is truly one of the great products of Sioux hockey.
  11. I, of course, meant I-94. We can worry about I-95 in March and April.
  12. I didn't get to watch/listen to the game... what kind of game did AA play? Were they playing that boaring trap like the old days or did it seem they were trying to take some chances defensively to generate some offense? Not too worried about ZP not getting any points this weekend... seems this team is deeper than other fans (and coaches) gave them credit for. They are focusing on stopping Zach right now, but soon the league will realize that the Sioux have many scoring threats and perhaps they should pay attention to them as well. This will help open things up for ZP. Seems to me our friends down I-95 have more of a depth issue than the Sioux.
  13. Exactly. I don't have a problem with the Junior-Senior comment (although the Sioux are heavily dependent on the production of the Rookies and Sophomores). His comments just didn't have any constistancy . Sure, Dahl has done some good things at JBS, and if they are happy just making the NCAA's great. But why should the Sioux be any more successfull than Ferris, Western Michigan, Tech, etc? Small town, accademics are good but for the most part not something a player couldn't get at another school, and up until last year, facilities that were on par (or slightly better) with many schools around the country. Tradition will only take you so far (look how far it got the Sioux in the early 90's). As for recruiting, look at UND's 1997 championship team. The Sioux didn't have many players that could be considered Blue Chippers out of high school on that team. It all comes down to coaching. Dean has proved that at UND. Lucia at MN. And John Hill looks like he's doing good things in Alaska.
  14. The more I watch Notermann play (and hear of his play), the more I like this kid. He has developed into one of the best players in the league. He may not score a ton of goals (although it looks like he could do that this year) he does so many other things on the ice that sometimes go unnoticed by the fans. In his rookie season in 99-2000, he looked like just another good player. I realy took notice of him (and Spei) the following year in the NCAA tourney. Blais put them up against CC's top line and they were awesome. They turned around and played another great game against Michigan State (didn't Spiewak open the scoring in that game?). The Sioux did just what they needed to do... split on the road. Let's hope they can sweep next weekend at home. I don't think anyone would complain if they did that all season long.
  15. Is it any wonder that Dahl hasn't won it all? I guess he passed on recruiting Zach because he isn't a real "Blue-Chipper". I suppose the Sioux and the Gophers will just have to be satisfied with winning championships without the help of any Blue-Chippers.
  16. My thoughts from watching last night's game: Goaltending: I though Josh played very well. It looked like he was screened on the first goal as there was a lot of activity in front of the net. On the second goal with Yale on the PP, Josh made the initial save but the D was unable to clear the crease and Yale jammed home the rebound. It's clear that they want to award more penalty shots this year... in past years that certainly would not have been a penalty shot. I don't have a problem with awarding penalty shots as long as they are consistant. They are fun to watch! Josh made some really big saves... especially the one on the break away. Josh really made that look easy. Defence: I thought they played OK... not great. They had trouble clearing the zone and I thought they let the Yale players stand in front of the net too much. Offence: They had trouble getting a flow going and generating good scoring chances for the first two periods. I was very much impressed with the Bucks-Quinn-Zach. Although they had only one of the 7 goals, it is clear how dangerous they are and how they can beat you if you ignor them. Yale did a good job of limiting their opportunities but even with all the attention Yale was giving them, they couldn't stop them completely (the line had four points according to USCHO but I thought Zach assisted on one other goal as well). In the third, Zach was at the UND blue line on the right side and Brandon was flying down the left wing. Zach passed the puck that initially went behind Brandon, then deflected forward off the boards and landed right on Brandon's stick just inside the Yale blue line. The Yale defence did a good job of cutting down Brandon's angle but that play showed just how good a play maker Zach is and how dangerous this line can be. I was also very much impressed with the play of the Notermann line. Jason works hard every shift and it shows through the scoring chances he generates. He could have very easily had 3 or even 4 goals last night. It is encouraging to see goals being scored by someone other than Zach and Brandon. We have all been looking for some production in the lower lines and last night showed what they are capable of. PP and Penalty Kill: The Sioux still need a lot of work here. I though they let Yale control the puck way too much and allowed them to set up the PP. The Sioux had troubles even getting near the puck to clear it down the ice. The Sioux did limit the Yale scoring chances while on the PP and Josh did a good job of stopping the ones that did make it though. But the Sioux will have to do a better job on the kill against the likes of WCHA competition. The Sioux PP was also poor. I don't recall the Sioux applying any consistant pressure in the Yale zone while on the PP. I was dissapointed with the fight in the second. Should be no reason for that against a NC foe. I didn't see anything done by Yale that should have caused this, though Yale was just as much to blame for letting it get as out of hand as it did. Consequently, the Sioux have to open the WCHA without two of their leaders in Hale and Spie. The Sioux are already haveing trouble on the penalty kill... not having Spiewak in the game doesn't help matters. In all, I didn't think the Sioux played well. Though it was good to see them keep their composure, and not get rattled when things weren't going well. I'm eager to see how they do on the lager ice at the NCC next weekend and against the rest of the WCHA. Based on what I saw against Yale, I'm not convinced the Sioux are as good as their national ranking... but even the championship Sioux teams of the past have had trouble with playing down to the level of their competition. In a weeks time I think we will all know better what this team is made of.
  17. I think both games start at 7:00 EST so the pregame would probably start at 5:30 CST both nights. My ticket for the Yale game says 7:00.
  18. Looking at who is above and below the Sioux in the poll, #7 looks about right... although I think Jan Brady is a little low even with the loss to Ferris. I would put them just ahead of the Sioux for now. Kind of off subject, but does anyone know who has the current longest streak of consecutive weeks in the top 10? My guess is Michigan. I can't recall a time since at least 1996 that they would not have been in the top 10. BC and the Sioux had quite a streak going until last year.
  19. The Parise-Q-Money line will be very dangerous this year. You can certainly have a man shadow Parise, but Easy Money can burn you too. I think Quinn will only get better playing with these two guys. I have been drooling over the thought of this line combo since the end of last season... I was happy to hear that Dean put these three together. I would like to see the Notermann/Spiewak line put up against the opposition's top line. These guys have proven their ability to shut down anyone. In the game against CC two years ago at the East Regional they took on CC's top line and did very well. Plus these two never seem to take a shift off.
  20. I plan on coming in from out of town with a couple of friends to attend the Saturday game of the NLC on Dec 28th. Does anyone know when tickets for this will go on sale or who to contact about tickets? Any help is appreciated!
