    Tom Pohl

You sure about this? 'Cause he's now out of intensive care and upgraded to "fair" condition. In addition, he talked to his coach Monday. Kinda tough to do that when one is in a coma. That being said, get well Tom Pohl. I've been a big fan of the entire Pohl family for a long time. They all play hockey with heart.
  2. What is this; like the 317th time this subject has been raised?
  3. Word I got before the game was that TJ wasn't for sure until after the warm-up. The hip pointer is just not getting better. He's playing in incredible pain. Genoway played with a cast on his left hand, which when one considers how valuable his stick handling is for this team, is a very good thing. If he were a right handed shot I don't think we would've seen Chay tonight. Genoway was a "go" since yesterday. Comments on the game: wow, that was a pretty complete effort. I knew Tech would throw an aggressive forecheck on the Sioux, but I didn't think they'd send three deep! And when they backed off the forecheck they put up a picket fence at their own blue line that was brutal. As hard as Tech went after the Sioux in our own zone, I'm surprised it took them 24 minutes to get a shot, although a puck bounced off the post behind Lammoureux in the first which doesn't count. Someone else already said it, but TJ
  4. KAIP FROM ZAJAC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woohoo!!!!!!! Sioux 2-0
  5. ^Yeah, I know. I'm just trying to modernize. Panzer is just so, you know, yesterday.
  6. DUNCAN SCORES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Assist to Kozek and Finley..... (Just practicing.)
  7. Genoway got robbed!
  8. This year's Fighting Sioux team is quite different than any I've seen in the last several years. It is really a team that defies easy description or characterization. Is it a speed and finesse team? Sure, but not completely. There is speed; and finesse. But I don't think that is the core. How about a team of the big oak trees the way the Sioux were described in Matt Greene's time? Certainly they are not as big as that team, but this isn't one that can be described as "soft" by any stretch of the imagination. I'd wager that this team is tougher

Hey pal. Be careful. You can be banned for swearing on here.
  10. I used to have a t-shirt that said something similar to this...
  11. ^Yeah. I think it was Glen Sonmor with Nanne. Although I don't think they got in any big trouble. It would be a "booster" violation, same as if someone like me made phone calls or a visit to a prospective recruit.
  12. Nanne needs to gracefully remove himself from the public eye. The game has passed him by, as has, apparently, the world. Stick to the golf course; leave hockey to the experts, Louie.

This one sentence sort of encapsulates a thought that's been rattling around in my empty head for about a month as I watched the Pairwise sort itself out. (And please keep in mind I am a 35+ year WCHA fan.) I think it is pretty evident that CC and UND are superior hockey clubs. They've played and defeated great clubs outside the conference, in addition to their obvious success in the WCHA. One might be able to add Denver to this discussion, but I'm not convinced after watching their collapse against the Sioux last month. The clubs in, really, 3rd through 7th (and maybe 8th & 9th) look to me to be just average, both in their season record and their talent level. Each of these teams has a player I'd like to see wearing green, but not a bunch from any one club. So my point (if there really is one) is this: Are these "second-tier" WCHA clubs really, I mean really as good as their Pairwise rankings would seem to indicate? Or does their success in their limited exposure outside of the conference, coupled with the WCHA essentially cannibalizing itself week-in and week-out (aside from CC and UND) create a mathematical illusion and thereby point out the fallacy of the whole Pairwise (and perhaps KRACH) ranking system. KRACH is particularly telling in that 8 of the top 12 teams are from the WCHA. As much as I'd like to believe our conference is the best in the country, from what I've seen, it ain't that much better. Interested in your thoughts.

    Injuries?

How can you make that statement? Hak didn't. Both players are dealing with pretty painful injuries. I, frankly, don't expect either to be on the ice Friday.

^Suprisingly, I think Moy's been fairly accurate in his projections. But I think he's smokin' ditch weed lately. The NCAA isn't going to jack with the pairings that much. Heck, the next thing he'll have teams moving 'cause their "away" sweaters will clash with the upholstery.

Moy needs to come up for some air. He's jumbled the pairings in the sake of attendance, something the NCAA does only rarely. Bracket the thing as it's designed: 1-16, 2-15 etc. There is no way 3 WCHA teams go to Madison.
  17. All these cryptic allusions to some off-ice issue leads me to just one conclusion. Are you telling me Grieco was secretly a Gopher Fan!?!?!?!?!?
  18. If for nothing else than purely entertainment!
  19. Hey FRGuy: they say recognizing you have a problem is the first step in solving one. You've taken that first step. We're all really proud of you. Just keep in mind that the problem you have didn't start overnight, so solving it won't be a quick process. But you're on your way to recovery, and that's what is truly important.
  20. Can you imagine this dude in a job interview in five years? WTF?
  21. Um, would that be the beer line? 'Cause I'm guessing the X cards a little better than Blarney's
  22. As competitive as the upper echelon of college hockey has become, I think the only #1 seed that matters is the #1 overall, which gets the 16 seed in game 1. Maybe the #2 seed also has a little easier first-round opponent, but aside from that, the NCAA Regionals are a bitch. Now that we've lost (and apparently can't reclaim) the #1 overall seed, I don't really care where we end up. I really liked that Albany bracket Moy (or someone) projected last week. But, like someone else posted here, the Sioux are going to have beat some great hockey clubs to win Number 8, so might as well beat four great teams instead of 3 and a cupcake.
  23. Well, almost. Xcel Energy Center and the Red Baron WCHA Final Five Tournament (As long as we're being picky, that is.)
  24. ^It is with great pleasure, and an immeasurable dose of irony, that I note it took a Gopher fan to bring logic to this discussion.
  25. I bought a cap there once a few years ago and had no problems at all. Bought it online.
