  1. The Sioux didn't have any choice but to start a freshman most of the season; Walski's a great kid, but he isn't a WCHA starter. Adding another "starting" goalie to the mix next year will keep everyone sharp. I really think we need to invest in a goalie coach, though. I do not understand why UND doesn't have one.
  2. All the negativity in this town sucks...... Yeah, an OT loss hurts. Giving up the lead hurts. But this team really is probably as big a bunch of over-achievers as we've had wearing the Fighting Sioux sweater for a long time. There is not a bona fide superstar on the team, and look where they went. I like what I saw out of some of the youngsters today: Gregoire, Frattin, Hextall, and Malone played with some fire. I truly hope VandeVelde comes back 'cause that's a really good nucleus. Add in a reinvigorated Trupp and the incoming freshman and we've got some serious stuff up front. And Blood proved himself to me this last month as a WCHA d-man. It's a lousy way for the seniors to go out and I'm certain they all feel like hell about it. I was going to say they deserved better, but after losing all the real "talent" of their freshman class, these seniors maybe didn't even belong in the tourney. I think they overcame a lot, and while their last three games were bitter losses, their time wearing the sweater for my alma mater was rewarding to me; I hope it was to them as well. edit: btw, Finley and Genoway were -1 for those keeping score. Not bad in a game in which the opponents put 6 on us.
  3. I'm too lazy to look back through 30 pages: what was the lacrosse final?
  4. You are closer to the satellite.
  5. I'm not sure which of these makes me happier!
  6. Amazing run for Scotty's Dawgs after being swept by Anchorage to end the regular season. First play-in game winner to take the Broadmoor Trophy. That is going to be a tough team for anyone to play. Congrats to Sandelin and his team.
  7. I'll cheer for the Dawgs tonight and every other time they play someone other than the Fighting Sioux. Down with Dasher Troll.
  8. We really need a tin-foil hat smiley for just this occasion.
  9. Just a few observations:
  10. Thank goodness (or the hockey gods, or whomever) that we Fighting Sioux fans even get to watch our team play in March and April what seems like every year.
  11. Rather than dig through three or four threads. Where's everyone sitting at the X? I'm Section 125, Row 17, on the aisle. (Oh yeah. yzerman19, I'll take that beer.)
  12. ^ Good one!
  13. It's a great day for hockey!
  14. Lou isn't the same guy he was as recently as a couple years ago. I listened to him during the MN state hockey tourney and he sounds as if he's slipped mentally. He made several statements that were simply ludicrous. He's sounding very much like a bitter, forgotten old man. That is sad for him and sad for hockey.
  15. I was "around" when the Big Ice thing hit its zenith; I'm fairly certain it was a Herb Brooks idea. Big Ice didn't made sense to me then and it doesn't now. As to converting existing NHL-size sheets to Olympic: it's gonna be pretty hard. You've got concrete super-structures built up to the ice surface in many (most?) cases. Think of the seats (or more accurately the floor) in The Ralph; lots of concrete to tear out (and seats to lose) to make the rink wider. Sorry for the detour. We now return you to your regularly-scheduled discussion.
  16. ^And considering the John only holds 10K, they don't have a lot of tickets that might go unsold. Now, if we're counting empty seats, that might be something altogether different.
  17. Lots of love for the Sioux from USCHO
  18. (Pssst. It's "cycle". As in cycle the puck.) The only thing that concerns my about this Sioux team, as many have already pointed out, is the power play. It isn't bad enough that we've developed a rather inefficient approach of late, but giving up 2 shorties on one power play Saturday certainly exposes a problem or two.
  19. ^'Tis merely a flesh wound........
  20. As much as I like Blaiser, let's not get carried away here; this is the USHL we're talking about, not the NHL.
  21. I'm right there with you in the crow-eating club. I am extremely proud of this team and each and every one of the young men wearing that sweater. Enjoy the night. 'Cause tomorrow starts the march the rest of the way.
  22. ^This is a major, major downer....... I thought this was supposed to be on.
  23. There is no freakin' way Hakstol is letting this team take a relaxed approach this weekend, even if they clinch the Cup on Friday. The Sioux have been in playoff mode for a month now. Hak is not taking his foot off the pedal.
  24. This is becoming more clear every weekend. Who is the opponent going to defend against?
  25. You need to come over here and clean off my monitor. Right this minute!
