  1. I think the large ice surface helps a little bit because typically you can’t be aggressive killing penalties on a large sheet. That said, their power play the last few years was 21% and 18%. In comparison, ours was 23% and 21% on a smaller ice sheet.
  2. Since the CHN app was down was looking for the score. Figured we must be up by 3. When you don’t capitalize it seems to come back and bite you often.
  3. So is he still suffering from injury, or has he lacked defensive responsibility?
  4. So are we assuming that Will Smith is still going to end up out east somewhere, or is Michigan going to lure him as well. Didn't a ranking have him right behind Slipec as the top '05?
  5. Do they keep Costantini at center since he likes to play center and has performed well there? Maybe they put Ford with Calder and Budy and put Costantini back with Kunz and Portz. Nice to have depth. Kunz has kind of been in and out, so wouldn't be surprised to see Ness either.
  6. It looks like he is doing quite well this year with the NTDP. It seems like he was hindered with injuries last year.
  7. It’s got to be tough to get a good barometer of who has the skills to move on to the college ranks from the BCHL and who is putting up numbers based on the fact that the overall skill level is not consistent throughout. You have about a handful of guys from the BCHL that get drafted on any given year which isn’t nearly as high as in the USHL, which is probably why guys leave the USHL to regain confidence. So then the coaches have to determine if they are succeeding because of the competition and how those skills translate. That’s what they get paid for, but it is no wonder that they wait on many high school prospects until they see them perform against greater competition.
  8. I would think Tyson Dyck as well.

  10. Two tickets for Friday, 11/19 & Saturday 11/20 vs. Duluth. Section 302A, Row G, on the end UND shoots twice. $35 each ticket, sold in pairs. (701) 330-8439 Brian. Accept PayPal.
  11. Since they haven't seen game action, that is based purely on practice. Practice and game duty can be night and day, as to performance. I wouldn't feel that comfortable with UND having little to no game experience going into next year. I would guess we will see Hellsten at some point, hopefully with some pressure filled moments.
  12. I wonder if UND goes to the transfer portal again for a goaltender. Yes, Hedquist has improved dramatically in the BCHL this year, but is he still too green to be the go-to guy for a program like UND? Talk about pressure for a youngster. Maybe Hellsten could be a factor, but the fact that he hasn't seen a minute of time yet makes me wonder. Could be the same kind of scenario with Benoit, with Berry possibly wanting experience to fill the gap left by Sanderson. Hopefully Johnson is ready to go after working with the coaches and time in the weight room.
  13. Makes you wonder if Carle would have called for a review if being wrong meant a penalty for his team rather than just losing his timeout. Since there is only one timeout, I don't mind that as the standard for challenging a call.
  14. Agree, I didn't see it as retribution at all.
  15. You could be right. I was thinking we were only up by 2, but I think we already had the empty net goal, so that leaves a little more cushion with only a few minutes left. Had Kleven been suspended it very well could have been a big issue for UND going into Miami though. Would hate to lose momentum when we already had the Denver game in hand. Of course if it would have been a full five minutes, things can change in a hurry as witnessed by the wrong call in the Stanley Cup playoffs a few years back when San Jose scored 3 times on a five minute major to go on and beat Vegas.
  16. Hopefully Berry took this as an opportunity to talk to Kleven about situational awareness. You don’t want to completely rein in Kleven’s aggressiveness, but there is a time and place to do so. Would hate to get in a big game and be missing his defensive presence and have to kill off a major as well.
  17. I was fully expecting Savoie and Kleven to both get suspensions, even though the intent was clearly different. I figured they would be afraid to suspend just one, but nothing surprises me with Don Adam, the tool behind the Robbie Bina fiasco.
  18. I think this UND team has to stay super focused on weekends like this. Even though we swept Denver last weekend, it is going to be tough to do that against the elite teams in the NCHC. I think if UND can make sure they bring it every game against teams they are "supposed to beat", I think they should finish well in the league. If they throw away some of these games, it could be nip and tuck all year as to home ice and the NCAA tourney. Let's face it, against St. Cloud, Duluth, Western, Denver and Omaha splits are most likely going to happen, especially on the road, but if you can take care of the games you should, then you have a little more wiggle room if you have a bad weekend against the top teams.
  19. Saw John Hill at the game on Friday, and was wondering why he would be here. Looks like he is a scout for Edmonton now. Hopefully Dave Tippett has a ton of other scouts He can depend on.
  20. According to Schlossman, UND didn’t have a power play last night, so not sure Denver has a lot to complain about. Of course when you depend on getting far more power plays than the opposition, you probably have a skewed perspective.
  21. Two tickets for Friday, 11/05 & Saturday 11/06 vs. Denver. Section 302A, Row G, on the end UND shoots twice. $35 each ticket, sold in pairs. (701) 330-8439 Brian. Accept PayPal.

You would think that winning should be enough motivation, but sometimes feeling slighted seems to get a person a bit more motivated. You always see guys that are traded away from teams perform quite well when they play their old team. You also have guys like Brooks Koepka that seem to perform very well when he feels slighted, and many times I think the slight is something he makes up to push himself to another level.
