  1. It doesn’t change the fact that you can’t take that sack. Guess I would rather have a 50% chance at a field goal then no chance at all.
  2. Not saying be ultra conservative, but know that you can’t eliminate that as a last chance thing. Also, do you not think that the interception was a direct result of being behind the chains as a result of the sack.
  3. How are you taking that sack when you are already in field goal range. Doesn’t get sacked or throw interceptions except in the worst possible times.
  4. That’s all we really want, is to stay in games.
  5. Those extra few yards on where they spotted the ball after Turner’s sack sure made a difference. Should have been closer to the 25, but that play is all on the defense.
  6. With that thinking we would never have had 5 overtime’s in Fargo last year. Every hockey coach would take issue with that statement unless you are going back to the two game total goal series of years gone by.
  7. ...and Peregrines would have met the unique criteria, as well as reference to the area as well.
  8. You wonder if UND just instituted a name like Force of the North or Green and White kind of like Central did with Maroon, if the appetite would have come about to have another nickname naturally at some point. Of course the argument would be it would then be Sioux by default anyway. One thing is certain, if the committee did their job and stuck to their own criteria, Hawks wouldn’t have been in the mix, and Nodak would have been a viable option. I wouldn’t be opposed to Nodak taking root and reference would be to that much like you hear Zags for Gonzaga rather than referencing their actual Bulldogs nickname.
  9. No surprise Will Smith stays out East with Boston College.
  10. I would think that as long as people are still supporting the University, who cares who puts what front and center. To me this is the best of both worlds. The other programs can use the logo as they see fit, and the hockey program can still keep people buying merchandise, yet use the name and logo as they see fit, much as the other programs did in the past.

As does the tired refrain of complaining about the hockey team not using the new logo.
  12. Maybe you should boycott the hockey team. Didn't hear you when the other sports didn't have the Sioux logo front and center.

    Jerseys

Not a fan of the one from the 90's. Don't know if I have ever seen anyone wearing a jersey like that. Generic then, and generic now.
  14. Schlossman said that Dell and JBD became the 17th and 18th to play in the NHL, and that Smith may soon be 19th. Is the criteria different for this list? Your list looks accurate to me.
  15. I would say last year was the deepest team we have had in a long time. Remember, Griffin Ness didn't crack the lineup a lot last year, and Jake Sanderson didn't need to come in and be a huge contributor offensively for us to be successful. We have a stretch right now that will tell a lot about where we fit into the picture nationally.
  16. Exactly! A lot of people envisioned that this team would be a work in progress and hoping it would come together after Christmas. Good start so far in league which is nice, but expectations should still be realistic. Just the fact that we don’t automatically get possession after a faceoff is a huge thing. Hopefully that is one area we can improve on, but we have started off nicely.
  17. Don’t bring facts into something when people want to believe we are the worst team ever.
  18. I think the large ice surface helps a little bit because typically you can’t be aggressive killing penalties on a large sheet. That said, their power play the last few years was 21% and 18%. In comparison, ours was 23% and 21% on a smaller ice sheet.
  19. Since the CHN app was down was looking for the score. Figured we must be up by 3. When you don’t capitalize it seems to come back and bite you often.
  20. So is he still suffering from injury, or has he lacked defensive responsibility?
  21. So are we assuming that Will Smith is still going to end up out east somewhere, or is Michigan going to lure him as well. Didn't a ranking have him right behind Slipec as the top '05?
  22. Do they keep Costantini at center since he likes to play center and has performed well there? Maybe they put Ford with Calder and Budy and put Costantini back with Kunz and Portz. Nice to have depth. Kunz has kind of been in and out, so wouldn't be surprised to see Ness either.
  23. It looks like he is doing quite well this year with the NTDP. It seems like he was hindered with injuries last year.
  24. It’s got to be tough to get a good barometer of who has the skills to move on to the college ranks from the BCHL and who is putting up numbers based on the fact that the overall skill level is not consistent throughout. You have about a handful of guys from the BCHL that get drafted on any given year which isn’t nearly as high as in the USHL, which is probably why guys leave the USHL to regain confidence. So then the coaches have to determine if they are succeeding because of the competition and how those skills translate. That’s what they get paid for, but it is no wonder that they wait on many high school prospects until they see them perform against greater competition.
