  1. For Hobey? I would think putting up numbers better than Cale Makar at this point is unavoidable to notice. Yes, Makar was in the East, but all the coaches talk about how Sanderson shouldn't even be at this level, so I would guess the word is out everywhere. Whether they would still be provincial is another question, but make no mistake everyone that knows about hockey knows Sanderson is legit.
  2. The Olympics are the Olympics, but I have a feeling the hockey world will have an asterisk by the winner of this Olympics because of the last minute circumstances. That still could probably outweigh winning a Hobey Baker for Sanderson, which I believe he is the front runner for right now. Would guess missing most of the second half would change that status. Would also guess Ottawa would want him right after the Olympics.
  3. Because it has worked so well for the Big Ten teams to get out of the WCHA to be in the same league in every sport.

    2021 Season

Yeah, winning culture begets winning culture passed on from one coach to their successor. Gasparini>Blais>Hakstol>Berry. And throw in guys like Rick Wilson, Cary Eades, Scott Sandelin who weren’t successors at UND, but had a good deal of success elsewhere. I would venture to say that guys like Dave Tippett learned a lot through that culture as well.
  5. So you’re saying Blue Chippas bad because they don’t focus on Nattys?
  6. ...and then you have coaches like Scott Sandelin, who has never won a league title, and it took him ten years before he won his first national title. Now he is considered among the elite coaches in college hockey.
  7. I would think it would have been with Ottawa.

    2021 Season

It amazes me the people who are in lockstep with Gfhockey, as he has proven himself time an again as an internet troll, and we all know what studies reveal about people with that proclivity.
  9. Did anyone watch the end of the Northern Illinois game against Coastal Carolina? NIU was at approximately the 12 yard line with 17 seconds left with a chance to win. Not once did they throw to the end zone. Talk about poor game management. Yes, Bubba’s 4th down screw up will be infamous, but it is not like you can’t pick out something in every game where a coach makes a poor decision.
  10. So does the signing of McGlaughlin mean we can let someone like Spicer get another year of juniors and potentially come in with his buddies Panzer and Ausmus another year down the road should we keep guys like Calder and Caulfield. Potential lines next year could be: Gaber - Schmaltz - Caulfield Calder - McGlaughlin - Costantini Blake - Kunz - Budy Ness - Jamernik - Portz Montgomery - Strinden - Albrecht Of course I am only taking Schlossman’s top six comment for McGlaughlin being where he is at, but Blake, Kunz could very well be there. We probably still bring in another forward, especially if someone leaves for the transfer portal, but it would be nice to get Spicer and James another year of juniors so they can have a bigger impact coming in.
  11. Matt Kiersted with his first NHL goal against the Kings.
  12. Not really, if he is a top six center for us, he won’t see ice time! That’s how I originally read that.
  13. Despite where we sit right now, the NCAA tourney isn't necessarily a given, especially if they drop the ball against Cornell. I would expect if they can play they will at least be in the lineup and let the game dictate ice time depending on how grueling the World Juniors are. Those games are too important for pairwise to try and take a chance at getting by without two of your best defensemen.
  14. In our league it barely gives you a leg up to secure home ice for the playoffs. With our start, sweeps in the second half will go a long way in doing that, since all the other teams will be beating up each other. We just need to find a way not to lose our mojo during the break like we did years ago when Scheel was playing lights out then lost his confidence.
  15. Yeah, Ness has been noticeable in his step forward. It’s only a matter of time before he gets the monkey off his back, and hopefully it’s a big goal.
  16. If Bowen hasn’t signed his letter by now, that would say a lot.
  17. CC has taken healthy Duluth and St. Cloud teams to overtime, as well as beating Omaha, so I wouldn’t take them too lightly.
  18. Most teams can’t fill their own arena, much less have fans that travel.
  19. If you look a couple years down the road with Blake, Gaber, Perron, Singleton, James, Spicer, and possibly Panzer, that will be trending on the smaller side. Not saying the grit isn't in their games, but I'm guessing the coaches are trying to keep some balance as far as size, grit, etc.
  20. Frattin, Malone, Weatherby, Adams, Wilkie, and down the line, you better hope for more of a jump from your other classes than expect huge impact from freshmen. We have plenty of guys that can make that step, add one guy who surprises and you really have something if Blake can make an impact. That isn’t taking into account the transfer portal, which could be used if Berry thinks another year would benefit guys, and we know he values that when possible. Duluth and Minnesota have a lot to replace after this year, and some of their older incoming freshmen haven’t put up any better numbers than our younger recruits. I suspect Bettens, Steeves, Smith and Howard would be in line to come in for Duluth. Howard could possibly equate to Blake coming in, but I would guess the rest are typical Duluth guys that come in with little fanfare, but just play the way that Sandelin wants them to play and somehow find a way to get it done. We know where Sandelin got that philosophy. If we keep Schmaltz, Caulfield and Gaber together and get the experience jump from Kunz and Costantini along with Calder possibly staying, that is a great start. Jamernik has shown an offensive upside as well, and Budy has flashes too.
  21. Development wise it might be good for Johnson, but what happens if Covid strikes. I would say you can't have enough guys right now. Just look at Duluth and their goaltender situation.
  22. The Incline is no joke. Did it last summer, and in retrospect breakfast might have been a good idea first. Didn't know you needed a reservation, but perhaps that was just for summer due to Covid.
  23. You seem kind of delusional. What is your definition of elite scorer. Don’t think Berry himself would refer to anyone on that line as an elite scorer, hence Senden’s first two goal game since high school last week. Nobody is disparaging their importance to the team, but I don’t know anyone including themselves, would refer to them as elite scorers.
