  1. He had a penalty last night, but not sure he played the previous game. Saw he was one of the early energy player of the game leaders, but that must have been based on the one game.
  2. You can’t tell me that some of these players care as much about this as the Europeans do. Why take the weeks off after the FedEx Cup if you want to be in form for the Ryder Cup? Time to hurt their ego and make it North America or the America’s against Europe, even though you probably wouldn’t have automatic qualifiers from Canada or South America. Maybe they need some players that appreciate being in the competition, like Max Homa.
  3. The U.S. captains could have mustered a few points if they would have played because they could hit the fairway every once in a while.
  4. Embarrassing performance when they all spouted off how they needed to get off to a good start. Anyone notice how all the European’s were focused on cheering on their teammates on the last hole, while the Americans were sitting together but were on their cell phones.
  5. It’s not like Ziemer, Whipple, Phillips, Grimes, Townsend and Hendrickson aren’t elite recruits, it’s just that they aren’t quite to the elite level of a Cooley or Eiserman, but few are. We haven’t got that elite of the elite recruit much either, and the one we did, Sanderson, we got before he was really recognized as elite.
  6. https://www.therinklive.com/junior-and-prospects/ushl/tri-city-storm-tender-shakopees-cooper-simpson-for-2023-24-season Tendered by Tri City. Looks like a really good get. His namesake being named an assistant coach, probably tilted the recruitment in our favor.
  7. I remember years ago, Minnesota always had much higher rated recruiting classes than UND. In the end UND held their own, and then some against Minnesota. Rankings give you a better feeling about your team, but in the end it doesn't measure all of the intangibles a player or recruiting class has.
  8. Anyone hear if there are new concessions or other changes for game day at the Ralph?
  9. I suppose you are always going to get guys that follow the money, but maybe a lot of the elite players won't be as concerned about the short term gain, and want to train and develop in a pro-type atmosphere that UND has to offer. As long as we get our fair share of guys that are of the 2-3 year college route elite players we should be fine. Will be interesting to see if the NCAA makes some major tweaks to NIL.
  10. Considering how much money he is poised to make down the road, this would make more sense.
  11. Part of me thinks that if super talented players like Eiserman are jumping ship for $100,000, how cautious will they be in playing their one year in college hockey to make sure they aren’t injured and get the really big payday.
  12. I wouldn’t get too giddy at Minnesota’s misfortune because if NIL continues to play a big role, they are better positioned with all the major companies and money floating around than we are. We can only hope that Schlossman is right and that the NCAA will be forced to take a closer look at NIL to prevent college sports from being a farce. Personally, I prefer the academic rewards slant that UND is taking.
  13. What about Travis Kelce dating Taylor Swift? Can he be successful?
  14. They were speculating that Nick Oliver, who coached Gruba in Fargo and is now at Wisconsin, might have recruited him when he was at St. Cloud.
  15. The Big Ten helped ruin traditional College Hockey, now NIL is helping to destroy it even more.
  16. Berg, Schmaltz, Jamernik and OMac have all played center, but with the 9-3 mindset you mentioned do you put either Schmaltz or OMac at a different position to have them at a spot higher in the lineup? The way it sounds, I wouldn't be surprised to see Albrecht and possibly a few other players split time early, so maybe Emerson could be splitting time early. If Albrecht is looking good early like Schlossman said, I would guess he might see some more time in the big games where a veteran presence could help. So with the competition level both at defense and forward, what position do you use to fill the extra spot in the lineup each night? If Berg is centering Blake and Gaber, is line 2 either Schmaltz or OMac, centering Perron and James?

    Is P.J. Fleck’s job safe?
  18. But he is in the "If you build it, they will come" mode!
  19. Mitchell Mattson, and of course Mitchell Miller, although the latter made it to campus.
  20. Brendan Lemieux is another one that bolted.
  21. Agree, because just like parents, coaches can't know what's going on with their kids 100% of the time. Many times they can only react properly once issues arise.
  22. So Hakstol was culpable for this? https://thehockeynews.com/news/pro-prospects-must-play-with-caution
  23. To me, if you can’t stretch the field with your wide receivers, you have to keep the defense honest every once in a while by quarterback runs when the pocket is collapsing. Having to deal with a quarterback that takes those 5 yards or many times a lot more gives the defense one more thing to worry about. Some teams make a living from their quarterbacks scrambling for first downs.
  24. To take the next step, they need to beat one of the Big three on our schedule. Two more chances.
  25. Thankfully, the postgame interview says there are a lot of correctable mistakes. But in the same token, they have been correctable for years.
