Omaha 16-2 in one goal games coming in, and of course against the gophers they can’t hold on.
-
So we have a guy fall causing a goal against Omaha right after we got back in it, now the same thing happens to Omaha. Why can’t that happen to teams I despise!

Maryland Heights Regional -- UND vs Mich & MSU vs WMU

Wonder if some of our advantage in depth is negated with all the tv timeouts. I sure would rather see Michigan’s 4th line more than their high end NHL draft picks. Let’s hope Ludvig is on, and Michigan’s goalie is off. -

At least they didn't say they wanted revenge like they said they did against CC and then get blown out both nights. I will say that if you got swept by a team you have never been swept by before, I would think you would have a little desire to get back at them, especially when an advantageous tournament location is on the line. -

I would be more concerned about whether we show up. Michigan has a ton of talent, but they have lived off their power play. Stay out of the box, and take advantage of some of their youthful mistakes and this could be an entertaining game. -
I hate to say it, but I think with UND’s fall in seeding, we set Minnesota up to get to the Frozen Four in their back yard. Unlike UND, Minnesota will be ready for Omaha.
-
Anyone that has a ton of NHL talent scares me. If we can give up 6 and 7 goals against performances against CC and Omaha, we can get lit up with the best power play unit of Michigan. Nobody was afraid of Notre Dame a couple years ago either.
-
So now UND is a heavy team. Do they just go by what they remember from past years?
-
But I see that as a problem. Why not ramp it up to get a chance to play them and win another trophy along your way to the ultimate goal. How we became a team that can only get up for certain games goes against everything Sioux hockey is/was about. Bring it every day. When we are constantly having to use the excuse that we had too many passengers, we have failed that legacy.
-
That’s where I saw it. They’ll really need to rely on the Plante brothers making a big impact now, along with James coming off his season ending injury.
-
You had better be more concerned about Duluth losing Steeves to a pro contract.
-
Yeah, let’s hope they win two like they did after their last 2 reboots!
-
Probably a good thing that next year is the last year at the X, because people are probably worn out with the one and done that has become the standard. You watch, once it moves to the high seed’s campus, we will no longer win league titles. We don’t seem to be taking advantage of opportunity for home ice type environments.
-
How did we used to out talent Minnesota? We didn’t! We just worked harder and were relentless. Omaha was relentless!
-
How can this be when basically a home regional is on the line? It baffles me, how we can take one of Omaha’s best players in Berg, yet he was MIA against his old team. Is Gabinet getting his players to play harder, because they sure have lost a lot of talent the last few years.
-
One step to take would be to play players that are relentless. Berry brags about guys like Ness is what the culture of UND is all about. I would argue that the culture is about playing guys like that even though there are more talented players. Never mind the fact Ness has scored 2 pretty big goals against Omaha in his career. Why is it that Schmaltz is untouchable, but Ness has to prove himself week after week, and even when he does, he sits.
-
With Berry’s record of performance away from the Ralph where UND has had huge followings, maybe it’s a good thing we won’t be in Sioux Falls.
-
The fact that we got swept by two teams this year and haven’t played with an edge the next time we played them doesn’t scream out the culture Berry touts. Get it together for the tourney or this will just be another huge disappointment. I can handle it if you play with a passion and lose, but it certainly hasn’t been the case lately!
-
I will say that a culture seems to be showing up of “we play when we want to play, or we’ll start playing when we get desperate. Omaha plays with our old culture, they kept coming at us the whole game even when they had a comfortable lead!

You’re right. UND missed the tourney twice when we would have been at home because we were host. They need to take care of business this time and not give up another golden opportunity at playing at a regional that would benefit them. -
I think they rebound to upper half of the league with James and Spicer coming back, along with Zam and Max Plante and Shaugabay, although I expect the latter will need an adjustment period, especially if he isn’t paired with finishers. They also have a high end defenseman in Kleber, and a highly touted goaltender in Gajan coming in.
-
But they do have a fan that looks like Joe Dirt!
-
He could be the man forever if he came back and put us ahead of both Denver and Michigan in Championships and give us our first back to back.
-
Thanks to getting swept by Omaha, now Omaha fans will scoop up all the regional tickets.
