I voted, but it won't let me fellow workmates vote.

I see that someone on GPL was asking for the password too so they could pass it along to fellow gopher fans. Perhaps the administration needs to come up with another way to do it next year to get maximum Sioux fans in the stands.
-
I think your last line explains it-- put as many Sioux fans in the seats as possible. Gopher fans are on this website as well, and they would use the password just as easily as a Sioux fan. After some jackass gopher fan was bragging about getting 16 tickets online last year while some Sioux fans were lamenting getting none despite being online right away, I am quite pleased that the administration decided to take this route to get as many Sioux fans in the seats as possible.

Not saying Gleason can or will do the same, but Jake Marto wasn't hyped coming out of the USHL becasue he didn't put up the numbers Derrick Lapoint did, but he sure has performed above expectations.

What about former area goaltenders?

Cornell/Sioux--I know this is a bit early...

The one thing I like about our freshmen, is that most of them have a lot of experience in junior leagues, so they have a chance to make an impact right away. -
I don't think you could call Bobby Stroup one of the two best linebackers at UND in the last decade. He had potential to be great, but didn't reach that full potential when he was here.

They usually reserve pillaging and burning things for a championship won in the Cities, so I guess since the boys only won the McNaughton Cup, they felt they needed to scale down a bit and only damage their own property.

SIOUX Recruits - 2008-09 Updates, Monitoring Their Junior League Play

Yes he was, he had a foot injury here then ended up at Harvard. -

Add Greg Geldart to that list, although he didn't play here long. Same with Kevan Melrose, who ended up with a foot injury and I believe ended up at Harvard. Also, Colin Forbes was a casualty of Gasparini getting fired, so he decided not to come. -
I guess since there aren't that many numbers, they have to use Murray's number just like they did with Chappell last year, but hopefully unlike Chappell, Josh comes back next year. If so, who gets to keep the number?

He brings to the gophers what they are missing -- passion for the game. If he can somehow translate that to some of their players, it is well worth the risk. Let's face it, he doesn't really need to recruit, just teach and get them to play at a higher degree with some passion a higher percentage of time. They might not bring it every night like he did, but I am sure they are looking for improvement on that end of things, because the talent is there.

Maybe Schroeder thought that if he was all about himself he would drop to the Wild in the draft. Trouble is that they didn't want him either. Seriously, I would like to have a few more sources about this, as either he has no advisors, his advisors are incredibly stupid, or he doesn't follow advice. I can't imagine anyone going to an interview without showing a little humility. He doesn't come off like a cocky person, although against the Sioux he had no reason to be. The other games I saw didn't lend me to believe he was that high on himself, but who knows. I only know that if this guy was talking about a Sioux recruit or player like that, we wouldn't be so quick to take it as gospel.

Isn't the "X" the one who bids on it? I thought they outbid the Bradley Center, and that is why it has been in St. Paul. Wouldn't the Qwest center have to put in competitive bids as well?

I don't know if Omaha is playing hardball, as in my opinion since they are the one being courted, they should have the right to not pay an entrance fee and get playoff money. Hardball would be if they demanded the Final Five in their back yard as suggested earlier. I guess we'll see when everything shakes out.

I wonder if Toews will switch to # 10 this year since Kozek is gone, and that is the number he wore at Shattuck. You know how superstitious hockey players are, and then Forney could have his old number back if he wanted it, although I'm not sure he would want it for superstitious reasons too. Also, #16 is available for Kristo, and #8 for Cichy. Not sure on the other incoming freshmen.

Addiction aside, I think I differ with the "good guy" classification, unless all the radio confrontation was for ratings. Even then, I don't respect having to stoop to that kind of thing for ratings.
-
Agree with you that I don't wish this on anyone, but think how he would be reacting to an athlete who tested like he has if he were still on the radio. I am pretty sure he wouldn't be holding back. I assume he won't be watching live hockey anytime soon. Anybody have knowledge of what kind of sentence he would get?

I don't think UNO is going to be unreasonable in its demands, because I think they would benefit greatly by being in the WCHA. I think their attendance will go up because of how some WCHA teams' fans travel, and they sure haven't set the world on fire where they are at. I wouldn't mind seeing a WCHA tournament in Omaha every four or five years, and I'm certain Denver and CC wouldn't either.

If we were to keep western schools in the Western Conference, then we should take Fairbanks, Omaha and Bemidji and get rid of every school east of the Mississippi, which would include Wisconsin, Duluth and Michigan Tech. I know you aren't proposing that, but I don't think the league name should play a huge part of the equation on what school to select. Each school is no longer compensated for going to Alaska, except to be able to play a few more games, and I doubt the NCAA would allow two more games simply because you play two Alaska schools. That's my opinion and you've stated yours. As the words to the song "We just disagree" goes, "There aint no bad guys, there aint no good guys...

I'll be happy if Lee saves his best performances against the gophers and St. Cloud can turn that series around this year a bit.
-
I don't think Blais thought Lee would stay in Fargo, in fact he said in an interview he thought he could go straight to the pro ranks. I'm thinking he meant farm system, but I was shocked to hear him say that, but then again, Blais isn't shy about saying what's on his mind.
-
Why does it make more sense? Most WCHA fans aren't fans of Anchorage being in the league because of proximity and such, why would they want another school that isn't in their footprint. I realize college hockey is different, but if you look at the Summit League UND is trying to get into, "footprint" is a huge factor. We have already had more of a rivalry with Omaha in several sports than we ever will have with Anchorage, muchless Fairbanks. Maybe you actually need opposing fans at games to have a bigger rivalry, and it won't happen with the Alaska schools.
-
According to the Let's Play Hockey blog, it was part of the negotiations for them to accept the WCHA offer. Don't know if their sources are correct, but it sounds like something Blais would want to know if he were to accept the job.

Small in numbers, huge in passion!
