Defense needs a body type and skill set like his on the edge.

I’m not big on contributing to this topic as I don’t enjoy challenging someone’s lively hood And I like the coaches as people that are in staff. I’ve always held the thought UND needs to look outside for some coaches but an inside name I’d put back on the table of changes happen is Luke Schleusner. The guy was our best recruiter under Mussman and has been with SDSU to get a feel for a program that recruits top FCS talent against other programs. He knows most on the current staff (that would likely still be around) and how an offense can attack teams in this conference. He wouldn’t be a bad addition if there are openings and he is interested. As a note- I’m not sure he’s ready to be a coordinator but find some money for experience and capacity to get him on board.

I’m glad ISU didn’t get in. If you want the whole competitive thing to work you should not reward a DII win. Treat their 6 wins the same as other 6 win teams and compare resumes.

Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you. The production just fell off the table when those guys went down but it’s no excuse. I’m in agreement with most on this board today. I would have went to the backup early or at some point before today.

I seriously don’t know if Izzy and Toivenon were that important to this offense but the slump started when they went out. Offense struggled as a whole today.

Eastern Washington gave up more points in one half than UND did all game. Are they a real team??

Years past a 6-5 MVFC team would have had 2 non conference FCS wins with one being quality. Not this year. Again, to justify one you have to move the goalpost for a lot of 7-4 teams They will likely get one in but it’s not justified based on the season.

We need a 2nd option at WR. The offense last week didn’t work.

There is a chance hat the MVFV finishes with only 3 teams over .500. It’s a decent chance actually. I don’t define that as above average. I will say years past the conference has been good top to bottom. Not this year. 6-5 shouldn’t get in from that conference. Goalposts have to be moved to far.

There are quite a good number of teams that could finish 7-4 with DII wins. There are also a number of 6 win teams that aren’t shoe in wins, very much including UND. I think by kickoff the UND picture will clear. I’m still sticking by the win and your in however I am not confident we can do that with the offense we put out the last couple weeks. Need a lot of guys to get healthy and get an edge back.

Did we lose one or does one (or two) move to TE or OLB? I have to believe (and hope) we get bigger than Tanner Polomberg and Jade Lawrence in the MVFC.

I’m still confused if your metric is “then ranked” like you use to defend a MVFC team or “not currently ranked” like you and others seem to hold against UND. If its “not currently ranked” the resume of any MVFC team other than FU won’t be good. If it’s “then ranked”, UND has as good of resume than the MVFC teams and potentially more wins.

So the goal post is “then ranked”?

There is a legit chance the MVFC finishes next week with only 3 teams above .500 and one of them being there with a win over a 4-7 DII school. The conference didn’t have its usual OOC dominance this year. I just don’t see a 6-5 team from that conference getting in.

I don’t disagree. That doesn’t mean we need to write off the season today. I also think Dom does a better job following FCS football than 99% of media out there.

You can’t blanket all 7-4 teams. Indiana St has a DII win and I hope and history has shown that the committee doesn’t reward or count those wins. You would have to go through and look at each individual schedule. As much as a stinker as our MVSU game was, it will count more than these other schools DII or lower wins. Also, the MVFC schools that are in contention at 6-5 laid eggs out of conference. That is different than years past. Outside of two teams, the MVFC is as average as every other conference. The eastern conferences getting 5 or 6 teams in May work in UNDs favor as the committee may work towards a east-west balance. !@#$ it. I’m on board the win and we are in scenario.
