Talking to Fabian... wants to thank the defense that it went in off last night... didn't even see it go in the net. when he saw it in the net he asked Prpich if he scored, and Prpich said no, he thought Fabian did... HAHA

CC staying with the same goalie tonight as well... CC coach said that Smaby's hits last night definatly affected them...

Hak's comments: Getting down early last night didn't get us down, we were ready and prepared. Will have bump or two in the road and I thought we weather that really well. we were physical last night on the right guys... there were a couple of key hits on key players. Last night was such a positive night, so much energy. We have to build on that instead of be satisified with that. Play for the guy next to him, play for the jersey... It's important get the first goal or two in the game... we know that we are going to get the kitchen sink thrown at us in the first period. Thinks CC will be sharper tonight, came off a week off and may have been a bit off. Will be interesting to see if CC changes up any of the lines. We've gotta take care of ourselves, we've got to win games. From here on it, it's playoff hockey. The only thing that matters is tonight. This is a win that we want to get tonight... Parise in goal... he brings that attitude out of the lockerroom that some guys latch on to. Black jerseys again tonight

pregame is about to start

I'm assuming that you got that picture from Facebook... and if that is the case, then there is also an interesting picture of Lamoureux...

Wow... major props to TJ... they are talking about how he could become the best player in college hockey depending on how long he stays...

I would really like to see a Noodles and Co. built in Grand Forks... or perhaps something along the lines of Panera Bread.... just a few thoughts

As a student, I would love to stay at center ice. I realize that I am in a minority when saying this. I don't care if it means that we have to sit for the majority of the game. I would rather be required to sit than be moved. I thought this weekend went well. Friday night I was in the upper bowl, and I believe we stood the entire game. There have been times when we have been asked to sit down, and it didn't work very well... I've witnessed the people in the very back row (with the wall behind them) argue with the ushers about sitting or standing. I understand that everyone pays a great deal of money to be there, and wants to see the games. Saturday night I was in the lower bowl, but right on the ice. Sitting wasn't a problem for me, because I could see either way. I think that moving the students to the end would only cause more problems than it would solve. I think with having the bar right there, it would make it VERY tough to put the students in the end. Where would the upper bowl go? My family has season tickets to Packer football and I can't imagine them saying that even though we've had tickets in those exact seats forever we have to move because they are reseating it... that's not how season tickets are supposed to be. Just some input from a student that doesn't want to move...

The "roll out the barrel, roll out the barrel of fun" song that they play in Wisconsin?

I'm from Madison, and dislike the Badgers, so maybe I'll be the only one to find this funny, but I just thought I would share it. UW men's hockey: Badgers return to pack after latest loss The insult for the Badgers and their followers came courtesy of Kessel, the Madison who a year ago picked Minnesota over his hometown school. Jeered loudly both nights whenever he touched the puck, Kessel celebrated his first point of the season against UW by putting his left hand to ear and skating around the rink, all but inviting a final torrent of boos. "It was just a reaction," said Kessel, an 18-year-old projected to be a top-five pick in the NHL draft later this year. "I was getting a little hassled the whole game." Lucia cringed when asked about the gesture, but ultimately backed Kessel. "With how much grief he took all weekend, I can understand it," Lucia said. There was no such sentiment coming from the UW dressing room. "Maybe put your hand there for a second, but to skate around the whole rink doing that? I'm going to question his character for doing something like that," Badgers captain and Madisonian Adam Burish said. "If this were a different league, maybe somebody would have taken it a different way and taken it into their own hands." Since fighting is a no-no in U.S. college hockey, UW players left the Kohl Center this night feeling the pain of injury and insult. "It stings," Burish said. Should be interesting to see if there is any retaliation should they play each other again in the tournament...

Not that it really means much... but a positive in the student section "battle" and such from this weekend is that they put the words to the school songs up on the video fascia ring (where the ads normally are) so that people could sing along... I'm not sure if other people notice, but the people I was with did... and we had quite the song going in the student section...
-
What else was said in the post game interview... I didn't catch it. My take on the game... we appeared to be skating decently... the passing was AWFUL... lots of good hits... We just didn't seem to have a spark...
-
Earlier in the thread, when St Cloud scored thier second goal... people were saying that it bounced of Chorney and they don't blame Phil... can someone elaborate further... because at the rink it simply looked like Lamoureux just plain didn't stop the puck...

Thanks for the input... I am going to discuss this with our staff and take a look at the operational issues associated with this proposed activity. This may be a good way to get the rest of the crowd into "Fight on Sioux" and "Stand Up and Cheer". Thanks for taking the time to drop me a note. Jody Hodgson General Manager Ralph Engelstad Arena Grand Forks, North Dakota

HAHA! We should for sure do that one!!!
-
Just so ya know, I emailed the general manager of the Ralph to ask who I would talk to about getting school song lyrics on the big screen... papers in the chairs, that's another deal... I'm not gonna print them all, pay for them all, and deliever them all... I don't have that kind of patience
-
The students don't know the songs, especially "Fight on Sioux"... we need to figure out how to get the words on the screen... but I have heard that it has been shot down in the past...
-
IMO the pulling in of the rest of the crowd did not go very well... they didn't cheer with us (unless we scored) and when we tried to start the wave it failed. Is it really that hard for some people, not even everyone, to stand up once a period during a break and clap?

I'm a current student and I really like Buning. I just think that he was put in a bad position. He inherited some really tough problems when he was hired. The student section was alright tonight. Behavior wise they were fine... Buning actually came by and thanked us. Lower bowl sat when they were supposed to sit, there was little swearing and no cheers with the f word. However, I did notice a few times when I turned to the person next to me and said "this place is deathly quiet" and when we scored someone would comment "wow... there are other people in here... and they're alive... they moved!" About the game... I am definatly impressed by Oshie and Jones as freshman. Stafford had a heck of a night too! The game was very entertaining... to say the least. I like Jones' emotion... but when he gets started, there isn't an off switch... it'll be interesting tomorrow. That kid must have said something that seriously pissed him off because they were fine when the ref had the two of them... but then all of a sudden you could see Jones trying to break free from the ref and go after him... Jones definatly said something to him on the way to the box, which the students loved. I did notice that when Jones went to the lockerroom Parise followed him... Finley appears to be getting more physical... Zelkin still sucks as a ref... SO many missed calls. Overall a good night, let's keep it up tomorrow!

I prefer the "you don't play hockey well" chant over the s##k chant, I think its more original. Also I'm personally not a WPoS fan either. I really don't think that is a deabte that you want to start...

Prpich is the Sioux's hard-knuckled warrior of the ice My favorite part: Some critics of Prpich's hardnosed play have called the Kenaston, Sask. native a "goon." Prpich addresses those critics with a sense of humor. "I laugh at it, because if that's the way they see it, there is nothing I can do," Prpich said. "I try to get in people's heads any way I can, and depending on the guy, it's going to take different measures." Perhaps the most memorable of those measures was Prpich's notorious goal celebration last season against Minnesota. After putting the puck in the net, Prpich took Gopher goalie Kellen Briggs' water bottle and helped himself to a drink. "I had a buddy in juniors who did it once, and he almost got beat up for it," Prpich chuckled. "I saw how much it rattled the other team, so I thought, why not try it and see how it goes."

It wasn't Trupp... because I saw him when he was here over the Gopher series... My guess is that it is Brad Thiessen. I'm pretty short, and there is no way that this kid was 6'4"... if you are going to the game tonight, my guess is he'll be on the bench during warm up as past recruits typically have been... so check it out, but I'm pretty sure it's Thiessen. (not 100% sure why we need another goalie, but maybe he won't come next year??)

That could definatly be who it is...

There are definatly recruits in town this weekend. I saw Coach Eades giving some kid a tour... I'm trying to figure out who it is, but with little luck. Hopefully one of you can help. His jacket had what appeared to be a blue map leaf on it, and he was number 30. Anyone got any ideas? Perhaps someone from the midget tourney in town?
