  1. Finally got control of the TV... Parise almost gets a hat trick.... now fighting in front of the net.... wish I had been able to watch the whole game!
  2. Hmmmm... this isn't what I had invisioned this thread turning into... but oh well. I personally had hoped that it would turn into a comical thread with people sharing their favorite Cocktail Napkin expression things (what are they called?). Personally I like Ten Thoughts From a College Hockey Goal Judge: Ten Thoughts From a College Hockey Goal Judge "Boy the post was off for three minutes, but who am I to say? I just want to get to intermission so I can play chuck-a-puck." "I still can't believe I'm not reffing in this league and these stiffs are." AND Ten Name Pronunciations, if All French-Sounding College Hockey Players Were Americanized For the most part they all seem to make sense except for Phil.... Alexandre Lacombe (Miami): Al "The Comb" Phillipe Lamoureux (North Dakota): Billy Smith
  3. I don't know if anyone else reads The Cocktail Napkins on a regular basis, but some of these are really funny! You can find the archives near the bottom of the page, I suggest browsing through them Cocktail Napkin By the way... UND is three of the top eight games in the tournament
  4. Once again... not exactly nickname related directly, but this week is UND's annual Time-Out Week and Wacipi. A schedule of events can be found at the end of the article... but the powwow is Fri, Sat, and Sun... I'm hoping to get the chance to go to this as it should be an amazing display of colors and traditions. UND: Time-Out Week and Wacipi offers array of talent
  5. I do not believe so.... I try to look when I go past, but there were cars in the way today.... as of last week there is no statue on the column where it should be...
  6. Brad's Blog Congrats to them! Players are still being added as NHL Playoffs wrap up for some teams....
  7. The game is Sept 24th, tickets go on sale to the public this coming Saturday at 10 AM
  8. UND Spotlight - Ryan Duncan The UND website has a banner at the top that alternates between pictures of students and staff that have been choosen for the UND Spotlight... I went to check my email this morning and noticed that it is Duncan! Congrats to him

    Toews Watch

They don't have agents... they have "family advisors"
  10. Wild down 1-0.... not sure of the time because it was just a game break.... although I see it will be on VS. as soon as the Dallas/Vancouver game is done
  11. Dallas up 2-0 early in the second
  12. For the games from the end of the season you can get some from www.fightingsioux.com There isn't a lot there, but it is better than nothing. Other than that, I'm sure people have individual pictures that they could get to you if you were looking for something in particular.
  13. Dallas scores VERY early!!! 24 seconds in.... But anyway, I was just coming on here to thrown an idea out there. Just watched the introductions and anthems for this game and every time that I see/hear the anthems it gives me chills. I'm not Canadian, but hearing the entire arena sing the anthems is amazing! I think it sets the tone for the game and the fan involvement right away. Why can't we do this at the Ralph with The Star Spangled Banner? Perhaps next year we should try and get the entire arena to sing....
  14. So true! We are blessed to have such amazing student athletes.... because it is not only the hockey team that is like this... the football team is as well. I definitly made the right decision in where to come to school.
  15. Gonna share the story or just tell us that there is a story?
  16. When I said that Toews signed autographs quickly I didn't mean it in the way that he was in a rush to get through them... he definitly stopped and talked to anyone that wanted to... I just meant that he had his own line, whereas people like Duncan and Oshie had lines coming from their own tables and could only sign as fast as the table next to them was signing... therefore Toews was able to get through his fans quicker and had some "alone time"
  17. Toews was one of the last players to leave as well... he signed autographs rather quickly (compared to others) and towards the end he didn't have a line but he didn't go anywhere. He just sat/stood there wandered around a little bit and chatted with anyone that would stop to talk. I thought Lee seemed to be very happy. I heard one person say that she thought the nicest table was that of Lee and Foyt, although all were nice.
  18. Fantastic evening! I love Fighting Sioux Hockey players and fans!!! Everyone was having so much fun. Definitly could have been set up better, I've seen in the past where it was all one line... instead there were very long lines all over the concourse... oh well, still got to see everyone... and maybe they'll have it figured out for next year. Lots of great pictures and some funny quotes! Too bad Finley wasn't there, he is always very entertaining to watch interact with the little kids! EDIT: Thanks, Finley wasn't there... typo
  19. A young woman from the Fighting Sioux Club was in the Union today making copies of the flyer so I can confirm that this will be taking place... although I believe it is being held at the Hyslop, where the swimming pool is.
  20. I heard that too.... I missed part of the beginning of the show, but is he maybe talking about Oshie not knowing that it is already public information? Or is it someone else on top of Duncan, Chorney, Oshie?
  21. I thought that I had listened to the Coaches' Show online in the past, but can't seem to find the link on fightingisoux.com anymore... anyone know where the link went to when they redesigned the webpage?
  22. Just something interesting (and not surprising) to add... I checked out the souvenir stand on Saturday before the championship game looking to get stuff for my family. I quickly noticed something when I looked at the stand (and I walked all the way around the arena to double check). The only team shirt that was sold out was the Sioux shirt.... there were still plenty of shirts for the other teams available. I talked to a friend who was with me and she said that she looked Friday at the skills challenge and they were sold out by then. Way to go Sioux fans... definitly representing the school very well and showing our dedication... the only bummer is that the NCAA gets the money....
  23. I can't deny that I was critical of Lee this season... probably even more so than he deserved... but I don't want to see him gone. As much as I can remember I thought he was good his freshman year. I'm used to my high school team where they played the body before the puck, and I understand that it isn't Lee's style, but I think I'm partial to the defenders looking to crush someone before making a play with the puck. As this season progress I have noticed that Lee is playing the body more than he has in the past. Offhand, I can't think of any loss that you can blam on Lee.... the Final Five game he was obviously the only defender around... but who would ever think that the shot would go in... certainly not me... and as has been pointed out in previous threads there was little Lee could do about that play without taking a penalty. For the most part, I think that Lee does very well on the power play. He has had some trouble keeping the puck in the zone, but so has everyone else. I too find myself wishing that he would shoot more from the point because he has an amazing slap shot, but him not shooting isn't bad either, look at all of his assists. While I hope that Lee stays because of his experience on the blue line, I can understand if he wants to move on to the next level. I think that if he were to stay here he would probably put on a little more weight over the summer and come back and have an outstanding year as a junior.... most of our defenders in the past seem to be doing that. Either way I wish him the best, but I am willing to admit that I would be very happy to see him in a Sioux jersey in the fall.... even if he does let the puck out of the zone one or two times in the season.... having him will undoubtly be more beneficial to the team that not having him...
  24. I'm confused on the whole Hamilton situation.... I know that he had to sit out a year because he transferred and he played two years at UAA... does he lose eligibilty for sitting out? No... is my answer, but my friend tried to tell me differently this weekend. Will he be considered a junior with two years left or a senior with only one year?
