  1. A young woman from the Fighting Sioux Club was in the Union today making copies of the flyer so I can confirm that this will be taking place... although I believe it is being held at the Hyslop, where the swimming pool is.
  2. I heard that too.... I missed part of the beginning of the show, but is he maybe talking about Oshie not knowing that it is already public information? Or is it someone else on top of Duncan, Chorney, Oshie?
  3. Thanks
  4. I thought that I had listened to the Coaches' Show online in the past, but can't seem to find the link on fightingisoux.com anymore... anyone know where the link went to when they redesigned the webpage?
  5. Just something interesting (and not surprising) to add... I checked out the souvenir stand on Saturday before the championship game looking to get stuff for my family. I quickly noticed something when I looked at the stand (and I walked all the way around the arena to double check). The only team shirt that was sold out was the Sioux shirt.... there were still plenty of shirts for the other teams available. I talked to a friend who was with me and she said that she looked Friday at the skills challenge and they were sold out by then. Way to go Sioux fans... definitly representing the school very well and showing our dedication... the only bummer is that the NCAA gets the money....
  6. I can't deny that I was critical of Lee this season... probably even more so than he deserved... but I don't want to see him gone. As much as I can remember I thought he was good his freshman year. I'm used to my high school team where they played the body before the puck, and I understand that it isn't Lee's style, but I think I'm partial to the defenders looking to crush someone before making a play with the puck. As this season progress I have noticed that Lee is playing the body more than he has in the past. Offhand, I can't think of any loss that you can blam on Lee.... the Final Five game he was obviously the only defender around... but who would ever think that the shot would go in... certainly not me... and as has been pointed out in previous threads there was little Lee could do about that play without taking a penalty. For the most part, I think that Lee does very well on the power play. He has had some trouble keeping the puck in the zone, but so has everyone else. I too find myself wishing that he would shoot more from the point because he has an amazing slap shot, but him not shooting isn't bad either, look at all of his assists. While I hope that Lee stays because of his experience on the blue line, I can understand if he wants to move on to the next level. I think that if he were to stay here he would probably put on a little more weight over the summer and come back and have an outstanding year as a junior.... most of our defenders in the past seem to be doing that. Either way I wish him the best, but I am willing to admit that I would be very happy to see him in a Sioux jersey in the fall.... even if he does let the puck out of the zone one or two times in the season.... having him will undoubtly be more beneficial to the team that not having him...
  7. I'm confused on the whole Hamilton situation.... I know that he had to sit out a year because he transferred and he played two years at UAA... does he lose eligibilty for sitting out? No... is my answer, but my friend tried to tell me differently this weekend. Will he be considered a junior with two years left or a senior with only one year?
  8. I was also at the Hobey Ceremoney (in that section in the end by the band) and I am SOOOO glad that I decided to go. I knew that the band would be there because my friend is in the band and told me... so I had hope, but in all reality I expected Ehn to win it because of the whole Air Force thing... that however did not stop my friends and I from cheering wildly when Duncan was introduced and as often as we could throughout the ceremony. I loved the story that Duncan's dad told about him.... about how he fell on the ice and basically his dad wouldn't let him get off the ice because he had heard that you have to get them back on the ice right away. It is too bad that his mother wasn't present... I later read that she is out of the country (out of town?) so that is why she wasn't there. It would have also been cool if our team had been present just to see their reactions. Overall, it was an amazing experience! The roar of the crowd gave me chills... I can't imagine how Duncan was able to give a speech... Congrats Duncan!!!! You deserve it!

I don't think I like the way that sounds... oh well.... guess I shouldn't be shocked...
  11. Haha... I was kinda wondering if I had missed a BC goal somewhere along the line... But it was a great article. I was trying to explain to my Aunt the difference between the two games and all I could explain to her was that the second game was so much faster. Maybe I'll pass this along to her...

Here are my arguments for why he should stay: 1. He's only 18, he'll be 19 soon... other than the fact that he is just flat out young, what's he gonna do after practice when all his teammates go home to families or out to the bars... who's he gonna hang out with? 2. Team Canada will certainly need a captain for the World Juniors this year.... by the way, where are they? Who can turn down the possibility of a third gold medal? 3. Chicago isn't that good.... why not stay with a competitive team and go to another Frozen Four (fingers crossed) With that said.... I realize that playing in the NHL is what these guys have been dreaming about since the day they first started playing hockey, if not earlier. And that the money is appealing... and he'll probably sign... But staying here isn't such a bad option either
  13. No info yet on fightingsioux.com. If it is tomorrow as it traditionally has been it will be very short notice. Anyone think that because the University is closed today for Easter Break it won't be tomorrow and will be later in the week/next week?
  14. Gotta love the quotes in today's Herald: A Slam Dunc Gotta love the little guys too But maybe that's because I'm short...
  15. ok, Siouxforeverbaby here. Our boys did not play as well as they good have. I felt so bad. I don't feel the loss was Phil's fault though. Yes, he was out of position sometimes forcing him to make some showy saves, but where the h-e-double hockey sticks was the defense? Overall, tough loss but life goes on.
  16. hey, its siouxforeverbaby posting as WiSioux cause I am too lazy to switch users right now. To Ports: Thanks for the awesome four years. You were easily one of my favorite players to watch. No matter what you stuck with it and gritted it out. Thanks. To Scottie: I loved it when you were on the ice, Thank you for sticking with the team and being you. To Fabs: I can't say enough about you. I will certianly miss seeing you both on the ice and walking around the Union on your crutches when they dropped you off and left last year. Thanks all of you for a great time, you are forever a part of the Fighting Sioux family.
  17. Not that I think facebook has anything to do with if they are leaving or not... but Oshie hasn't had a facebook profile since the Judy's incident...
  18. The entire team was there last year as well... I believe those not dressed hang out behind the band in the Sioux section during the games
  19. Not sure where to put this... but it is pretty funny Zamboni driver skates by drunken driving law
  20. Did we try that last year with Travis and Darcy? Look how well that turned out.... and is David a senior or only a junior this year?
  21. That's correct....
  22. If you're that close why not just go to St. Louis? Just my bit of advice... haha
  23. According to the press release on fightingsioux.com "Children are allowed in Al Hrabosky
  24. Just to play devils advocate.... I did see Hamilton eating lunch with Duncan, Porter, and Kozek on Thursday this week.... he appeared to also be growing a playoff beard. Not saying that the boys aren't allowed to have non-hockey friends, but just pointing out that if for some reason he is no longer on the team he's still hanging out with them
  25. Not exactly Sioux Name related... but I'm sure that it will not be seen in a positive light by many people... Eagle Stolen from UND American Indian Center
