Rumor has it that Strouth tore up his other knee and is out for the year. I was at the game today and it didn't look good. Does anyone know the extent of this injury?
-
It was a flashback of the UMD playoff game last year. It seemed pretty "stale" in there today!
-
Sorry to hear about the former Bison, Craig Frederickson. My thoughts and prayers are with the family, team, and U. This Sioux family proudly supports all three in this trying time!

I will definitely be at the game (300 miles round trip) because I love Sioux football. But Winona in the playoffs? I say this with every intension to disrepect WSU/Warrior 08, you cannot run with the big dogs of DII. I can't wait until Augie (yes Augie) takes you to the woodshed their 1st year in the NSIC! Don't talk smack on the Sioux board UNTIL you have proven something in Football. (Yes you have a good basketball team, so don't bring up that crap). If I were a casual fan, there is no way I would want to watch Winona play anybody in football. The good news is that Dressler can pad his stats a little which could help him get in the final 8 for the Harlon Hill. (P.S. Warrior 08 - The Harlon Hill trophy is presented to the best DII football player as voted on by the selection committee) He may not win the award, but at least he's getting some much deserved recognition!

I like having WSU in the playoffs. Having a bye week come sometimes make you come out flat in a 2nd round game. Lots of positives and one negative Pros 1) Its Winona 2) 28 of 29 in the Alerus & 8-0 in the playoffs 3) USD needs to get by Grand Valley which should be a great game 4) Of all 6 teams who else would you rather play 5) We can avenge giving up 2 points earlier in the year and get the shutout this time 6) We can continue to build momentum for UNO 7) Its Winona!!! Cons 1) UNO on the road

If the Mighty 790 does not reach out to Bemidji I would be surprised. I live 140 miles (as the crow flies) south of Grand Forks and get all of the away games. (I am at the home games). You could also try 96.1 FM which will come in better if it is cloudy. GO SIOUX!

I would second the motion. We should probably put it to a vote somehow!

I was at the Alerus and saw all four games. I am thinking that Blake Sczepankski (pronounced Sha-pan-ski) would look great in the Sioux secondary. 6'1" & 195 witha great knowlege of the game. Which big offensive lineman from TRF at the Sioux looking at? I am curious if it is the BlackLance kid. OT - 6'6" and about 310. His dad played for Bemidji state in the 80's and his uncle played with myself (or should I say on my football team). He's a big kid but seemed to do a lot of hand-slapping of shoulder pads on the LB's and secondary during the game. I imagine the Sioux coaches could easily teach him much better technique. The thing that might become a small PR item with Andrew is the fact the he is part Chippewa and part Sioux. I could see the PC people accusing UND of getting a recruit just because he is a Native American Sioux. I know one of the coaches from Proctor (Beat I-Falls last weekend). I am wondering how good he thought Brackins from I-Falls was last weekend.

A couple of weeks ago against Augie. The "Canon" said, "Another flag?, now I'm pissed!"

Congrats Scarlet Knights! Great Win.

He did a nice job getting the ball to Dressler. I was pretty nervous though watching Belmore take some of the shots he did after throwing the ball. Considering our backup has played about 2 drives it could have gotten interesting if Belmore went down (assuming that Manke would not play). I never saw him warm up during the game as the backup normally does which made me believe he would not play. Then again by the time I looked up at the scoreboard it was already 28-0.

I am just of the opinion that if it were not for our Defense being that dang good that we would have been a much different team in those six years. (Obvious statement I know). We have won numerous games just because of our defense, however I really don't remember too many times that we won a game just because of our offense. And yes I did play football, and yes I do watch football.
-
I am one of the few who probably has faith in Belmore. I just think that Manke is that much better of a QB.
-
Congrats Rutgers!
-
I know its only Sunday, but will Manke be ready for SCSU? With him I think the Sioux will be +10 without him its 3 points either way!
-
It was probably the best start I have seen the Sioux have in the last few years. I don't think the offensive stagnation had anything to do with Belmore. In the 2nd we had 4th and less than 1 twice about about the UMD 40 and punted both times. We also had another 4th and about 3 and punted. I think it was another classic case of Mussman playing not to lose instead of putting the nail in the coffin. I am not concerned about playing Freund just yet......My gut tells me that they will be opting for a freshman or sophmore next year (Landry or Konrath) instead of Freund. Why else would they not be playing him? I really expect the musical QB game to get worse next year. IMHO that should lead to an unemployment check for Mussman.
-
I have been wishing and saying this for the last few years. My easy solution, fire the OC. Mussman has been blessed with some good talent on offense which is normally used for ball control. I imagine having an agressive quarterback like Manke drives him nuts. IMHO if we did not have such a solid defense the lack of talent by Mussman himself would have been magnified enough that he would need to shine that resume.

I think the Sioux played well also. Let's not get too greedy and expect every game to be a Winona State type blowout. Look at the top 25 in the nation. The NCC has half of the conference rated. This is one tough conference to get through, and to lose by 1 point.....settle down. In 2001 and 2003 we had MANY games that were won in the very end (The name Jeff Glas comes to mind) that we could have and should have lost. I will admit that we struggle with the consistency, but overrall this is still a fun team to watch and we will be in every game we play. Let's be thankful we are in good hands with a solid staff, solid D, and an offense that can shows signs of greatness. Maybe give UNO some credit this weekend. After watching the gametape, WE LOST TO A BETTER TEAM THIS WEEKEND. If we play them again it will be a different game and a different result. Don't lose the faith! I remember 2002 when we were 5-6 and not very much fun to watch. We are 6-1 with 3 games left (2 of those 3 should be W's) and should make the playoffs once again. #2 or #3 in the region and still a top 10 team in the nation. I HAVE NEVER BEEN MORE PROUD OR SUPPORTIVE OF THE SIOUX!
-
I'm with you BigGame. The bottom line is that we need Manke to play the entire game if we stand a chance! We have seen too many Belmore meltdowns (UNO & USD last year) and stagnation (Auggie, Washington, and the 2nd half of Mankato). If my math is correct that is 5 1/2 games out of the last six that he has started. No s&!t we need to worry with Belmore at the helm!

I found out about a valuable tool from the D2Football website. If you want to eliminate viewing posts from a poster you don't care for, just do the following: My Controls Manage Ignored Users Add New Users to Your List -type in name I have never done this in the past for ANY user, but when it comes to making such bold statements by a poster when you have nothing to lose (Except to UND of course) I don't care to read that crap.

I was at the game yesterday and thought this was as good as Belmore has played in a very long time. With that said, it was a very painful game to watch in terms of the 2nd half. The fumble really wasn't Belmores fault considering he was blindsided and he was nearly in the throwing motion (I will give him a little love on this turnover). Brent H went from not punting in the first half to nearly needing ice on his sore leg in the second half. Our offense completely changes its composure with Mr Belmore on the field. I hope we get our #1 QB back and he is not rusty! UNO............point spread.......... With a healthy Manke (Sioux by 10) With a healthy Belmore (Mavs by 21) This is the first time since 1993 when I have actually predicted a Sioux loss. Sorry, but in my "maturing" years, reality seems to become more apparent everyday. In the 90's most game predictions were preceded by a 12 pack and usually followed by the statement "I have 4 years of eligibilty left".

Can't wait for kickoff! I will be at the game so I can't post any updates. Have fun with the thread. P.S. I finally figured out why my audio thread was about 40 seconds quicker than the other threads. I have a separate link that goes directly to the radio station which for some reason became my default link when I installed a back up drive. DUMB LUCK!! GO SIOUX!

Hey Walrus, can I use that speach before a big game? You pumped me up and sent a tingle down my spine! (In a non-sexual way..........Not that their is anything wrong with that)

I completely disagree, the only reason we were in the game today was because of the running game. I am 40 lbs overwieght and I think I could manage to hand the ball off to our backs as well as Belmore. I could also one-hop many throws to Dressler and crew with ease. How hard can it be to make about 50% of our plays look like a busted play, roll out, and then miss all receivers by 10 yards. Todays game (and last weeks game) has been a near repeat of the UNO game last year. I admire your confidence in Belmore, but think its time to give Chris a chance to be an All-NCC statistician. I think Freund should be given the nod if Manke is not healthy.
