  1. I agree that the outside shooting is an issue, but I don't think it's because they are so focused on getting it into the posts. As has been said many times, it has plagued us for years. Sometimes shooters can be streaky or going through a funk. I haven't researched the stats, but it doesn't seem like we are taking a whole lot less outside shots than before, we are just shooting a poorer percentage right now. When you've got Kimbrough averaging 60 some percent FG shooting, how can you not look for that. It seems hesitation is more of a problem, because it affects shooting and it also plays a part when they miss the post player cutting or do it too late. There have been a lot of unforced turnovers (dribbling off the leg must've happened about 4 times in Toledo) so I have to agree I don't so much think its an issue that they HAVE to get it inside. We do need everyone to contribute however and consistantly. Hopefully that will happen.
  2. I understand the transition part. Does Roebuck? Of course this is going to happen, but to quit "coaching" and act juvenile is ridiculous. Our recruiting has not been the best and I know it's difficult for a school in playoff limbo, but the coaching staff is responsible for the level of talent. We are going to lose some games, but blaming the athletes is not the answer IMO.
  3. I couldn't agree more....Kimbrough needs to stay out of foul trouble and needs to be on the floor. (Hard to do I suppose when 9 fouls vs 28) and we need to hit shots from the outside. I think the rally from 21 points down shows they did have a stop and it shows heart...Good Luck in Wyoming Ladies!
  4. Thanks for putting all of this info up before the games! This should be a good test for the ladies to see where they stand.
  5. Why is it coach daddy that your posts most often seem to be laden with sarcasm or even a "dislike" for some of the Sioux players...going back to last year with "fake tans" and "not worth buying a ticket to" and now "every average kid in the NE part of the state"....got any positives?? I was surprised to see a ND woman on their team too and it would be interesting to know how she ended up there, but did you need to add the last part of the remark????really?
  6. I'm not so sure they are all ACL injuries...although your terminology is impressive.....sometimes when an athlete senses a problem, they are not listened to depending on what's at stake...I hope the staff is above that and this is just a bad coincedence.
  7. congrats Emanuel...North Dakota loves you and wishes you the best!!!!
  8. I said I could be...and I'm glad to hear it. Eventhough the hockey game may not be over, the score is announced periodically during the basketball games, I think they've even announced scores when the hockey team is away and basketball is home. It's especially nice if UND is ahead because it gets the crowd going even more.
  9. I couldn't agree more with the previous 3 posts. Not only does it have to do with probably a majority of the fans, but the media (Herald, TV) are so biased in their coverage you would hardly know there are other sports going on during hockey season. Hopefully they will try to provide a little more coverage for these other sports during this transition as well. I have often wondered if they announce the scores of the basketball games during hockey games as they do the other way around? Does anyone know..I'm guessing not, but I could be wrong. I like some of you am a basketball fan first, but I do have enough loyalty to cheer for ANY UND athletic team, even with the sometimes exemplary behavior
  10. Is this a for sure thing?? If so, what GREAT news....could've used him the last 2 years and we definitely need him for recruiting!
  11. Will I need a passport to attend games? What a dork!
  12. We are disrespectful? I only see well wishes for USD on this post. The point was, I have never seen an article to my knowledge in the Dakota Student or other newspapers where we knock the other teams players. Plus the snide comments. Opinions on a message board are one thing. The Karma remark was based on maybe they shouldn't have been so busy critiquing our problems and taken care of their own, because in the end, the same thing got them. Playing a horrible game at the worst possible time, and getting beaten by an unranked team! I don't think anyone here congratulated NKY because anyone "not from USD" was cheering for them. I do wish USD would have won the whole thing if only for the fact they are a NCC team. I would like to see ANY team from our region, especially conference, do well.
  13. Congrats to USD on a great season. I feel for the players and Coach Lavin, but I think we know what it's like when our team shoots very poorly and the opponent gets 20 more chances at the charity stripe. USD did not play their game and looked frazzled at the end. The ones I don't feel so bad for are some of their awful fans and student news writers. http://volantesports.wordpress.com/2008/03...-karma-for-you/ Seems like a very prophetic statement now. What goes around truly does come around!
  14. I don't think anyone here is going to argue that Roebuck is not a great coach and I for one would not want anyone else bringing us through this transition. I think he is a tremendous assett for getting scheduling for these next few years because of his winning basketball reputation. I would guess he is respected among even higher level schools. His record speaks for itself, BUT a coach gets the credit and a coach gets the blame. I have to agree that maybe what worked 15 years ago isn't working now. Different personel is part of that. You have to look at the fact that in the last 4 years, the starting line-ups and teams have changed, but the common denominator is the coach. Unless all of these girls are of the same personality, the coach has something to do with play. As other people have noted, the girls seem to play tight or scared. It's pretty hard to play your game or get in a rhythm if you are worried about making a mistake or having a revolving door substitution policy. I think Roebuck knows basketball better than anyone but something is missing. It is his job to understand our weaknesses and figure out a way around them. Our defense was lacking at times. Two of the best players on the team are not speedsters, but you can't sacrafice the scoring potential. I know people have beat this one to death, but a zone fits the big girls better and perhaps should have been and be utilized more often. I am not blaming the coach. The team did not perform at times also I just think it goes both ways. There was a lot of presure this year for this team AND the coach. We expected to go out with a bang. I don't know what happens in the team/coach dynamic either, but I do know that being under constant pressure and being disicplined for mistakes makes it much harder to do my job or any job for that matter. That would include both the team and the coach. Do I think that's an excuse, no. Some people in their nature just don't handle it well, some do. We had some weaknesses on our team as well. Although a coach does recruit talent, sometimes that talent doesn't develop as expected. No ones really to blame for that. I would think we all have off days, coaches, players, people in general. We have 2 All-American candidtates this year which is outstanding. We will have one of them back and a team with talent. I too think that next year we could see this team in a whole new light. I think both Roebuck and the team will loosen up and are capable of playing some good ball. We basically have nothing to lose and will be playing for pride...I think they ALL will surprise us. Good luck to the Fighting Sioux women..players AND coaches.
  15. I doubt any of our players or fans feel any obligation to let this season slip by because we've had so much success in the past, and by the way...USD is enjoying a year of doing well. It has been a great season so far for both teams, especially USD, but with both teams making the change, I would say they both want this equally bad this year. Good luck to all in the playoffs, but as you are posting on a Sioux board, you can imagine where most of the sentiment is...GO SIOUX!
  16. What do you think Coyote Fan.. Just kidding...I have to agree that it is worth a try as others have said, but we may be putting the cart before the horse for the regional...first we both have to win some games to play each other. Nothing is a sure bet as we should know from experience.
  17. very true..the one at the end is the one that matters
  18. I say co-MVP Kimbrough AND Langen...they are too close to call.
  19. It said there would be a web cast from Augustana...anyone having any luck with that? I can't seem to find it.
  20. I would like our first experience to be your beloved bovine friends...oh...but I guess we are supposed to get our butts kicked so that would rule that "challenge" out. Perhaps Ms. Ruley would consider putting us on her schedule next year so we could give it our best effort!
  21. I guess we will agree we disagree...on another note..It was nice to hear Sannes name back in the game.
