  1. OK....tried to get the feud on the other thread...Great Job Ladies...one more for the on the road record!!!! Great thing about the ladies..."WELL ROUNDED!!!" let's talk BB on this board..go to the other thread to "B*&ch" about that other ND school!!
  2. OK,, People...if you wan't to rehash the old days...go to this thread...otherwise...let's talk UND WBB!!!!
  3. I feel another reason the talent up here is virtually untapped by the bigger schools is underexposure. Playing AAU ball is a virtual recruiting focal point. It is very difficult for players in this area to do that without leaving the area (ie: going to the cities) Many kids don't even have a drivers license yet or have working parents who can't get them there or find lodging, etc. A big reason NW MN has such a strong talent base is the strong summer programs, if kids play AAU, it takes them away from their HS teams and that makes a difference too. Another thing is a great education...transition will be hard, but I think there will be plenty of talent interested in UND, IMO.
  4. I realize that you are just trying to get a rise out of us with your post, but I personally would love to see some games like that sceduled. The men did have exhibition games this year with Purdue and Indiana and I know the women had one 2 years ago against the U of M. Perhaps with the move to D-1 set, we will see some next year. Underacheivers or not...I would say they could give many D-1 schools a good effort and perhaps slaughter a few...any time UND vs NDSU happens, I guarentee a full house...perhaps that would be a better exhibiton game than Bemidji or Mayville
  5. Have no idea what the reason was, but an "infraction" of any kind probably needs to be addressed because rules are rules...as Roebuck said in the Herald..."the system is more important than anything" I give him credit for sticking to his guns. On another note, the ladies seem to be playing very well of late...good luck to them in Washington...should be some good games, especially against Seattle Pacific...they are usually pretty good the past years.
  6. I think the ladies have been playing quite well...this weekend should be a good test...St. Cloud has had close games with them in their 2 meetings....thought this was quite interesting as well: St. Cloud to Nothern Sun Looks like the NCC will be toast when UND moves...wonder what schools will follow UND or St. Cloud??
  7. I guess I don't understand the underachieving part?? 10-1, but they are not blowing everyone away?? The Men won a huge victory against a very poor team..is that a better result?? I have been to most of the games and I am not at practice, but I guess I don't see a lack of effort? I am confused as to that..they have had some set backs with injury and illness, but I haven't seen any blatant lack of effort. The Men are definately headed in the right direction and they are mu8ch better than last year, but concerns or not, if the coaching staff has such grave concerns with the women's team, perhaps they should address them internally and not publicly.
  8. I think everyone is having a tendancy to "call out" the women's team. They also did beat a very good Metro team and Texas A&M commerce. They are not the same team from last year and they won't be until more experience is gained. It is especially evident in the point guard position..it will take time to get a floor general like Malum was..if you haven't played a true point guard, it is not something you do right off. Boese was phenomenal..I think we'll get there, but all of the negative criticism from fans and coaches alike has to get old. Another change is coaching...Brewster had a lot to do with the posts and a calming effect on Roebuck..all the changes take time to gel. The posts are coming together when they are in there together, outside shooting has been ok. I'm not saying its right, but a bus ride to Bismarck to play Mary on a Tuesday is probably hard to get super fired up for...not necessarily a "step or two backward" but an off night. I remember barely beating Crookston last year and a few other marginal wins...I'd rather they get the bugs worked out now than lay an egg at the end of the year like last year. I think they'll get it together, but criticizing effort, etc publicly is going a bit far in my opinion. SCSU has struggled with a few games, losing to Bemidji and a dog fight at Concordia, I'm sure every team goes through the same thing. Until we start playing some better teams, I'll reserve judgement.
  9. Unless I'm misreading the schedule, we are playing AT Crookston again too..for the 2nd year in a row...what's up with that?? I believe Bemidji beat both NDSU and SCSU...could be interesting.
  10. A little confused as to why no one has any thing to say about the ladies whom seem to be getting it together? Last game, it was nice to see the one-two punch in the post kick in. Awesome passes from Langen to Kimbrough...that should work all year long...either from L to K or K to L...it's looking much better...3 pointers are going in and ball movement is much better! Watching the last two games...very impressed with Anna Leigh Brady's passing! Perhaps they should involve her more? Any thoughts??
  11. What does that mean??? Like you said, a successful program has support, so if it's a women's program, that doesn't "count" as much? Unfortunately..it seems many have that opinion..for example..the Herald yet again...women win 2nd tournament before starting the regular season...women 5-0 burried on page 5. You really have to search for results and struggle to listen as internet feeds don't work but I bet you wouldn't for hockey or football..so you may have a point...or perhaps you didn't mean it the way it sounds.
  12. I agree...cannont be winning by 20 and get this close...ALSO......here we go again..what is the deal with the AM radio and horses*%t internet feed for the women? Are the men always going to get the FM station??? I wish the men well, but c'mon...we have the majority of women's players from this area..maybe the average person would like to hear them...(in other words...AM doesn't come in or the INTERNET FEED DOES NOT WORK!!!) at least alternate who gets FM. No disrespect, and I'm all for the new found love for UND men's basketball...but come on...they've lost 2 in a row and got their butt's kicked by albeit D-1 schools. Give the women some props...5-0 warrants some air time that people can actually hear!! 92/96...whats the e-mail to complain to the radio/univeristy??? Good job ladies!
  13. Man....where am I Thought I was on a Sioux Board!! I get it already...the gophers and the bison suck...could care less...what about the Sioux???
  14. I have to agree...the women are ranked #1 in the nation in at least one poll, and I haven't heard a thing about their tournament either. As both teams are set to travel...I wish them both great success this weekend. I am assuming the Women's games (and Men's) will be on the radio??? Does anyone know for sure?? Any updates from those attending would be greatly appreciated. I am excited to see how this team will gel and whom the starters will be. Good luck and GO SIOUX!!
  15. I too, wish her the best. I have not heard of her personally, but she must be talented. It is a hard decision to move that far away from home, but fortunate to have the opportunity!! Good Luck Jessica!
  16. Perhaps you meant to say that Men's Basketball is horrible...(at least I hope so)...where is the women's schedule??? Will it be a mirror of the men's??? It seems that with all of this big D-I coverage that Roebuck, etc has been glaringly missing from the TV commentary...the women's team has been a bright spot...it seems strange to me that there is no message board action on that aspect.
  17. Samuelson was one of the final 5 for Miss Minnesota Basketball along with Kimbrough. I believe she is also the all time steals leader for MSHSL, but don't quote me on that. I saw her play once in an All-Star game, so it is hard to judge as they are not playing with their regular team. She can jump and shoot. Not sure why she was released from Colorado but I'm sure she has talent. I would assume she'd be a 3 or 4. Guess it would matter if she wanted to remain "D-I" or if UND has the money or the need for her.
  18. First of all...congrats to the Lady Lakers! It just goes to show what one bad night of shooting will do (UND vs St. Cloud and St. Cloud vs AI) I did think that GVS played a similar style to UND (ball movement was great) It would be fun to play some of these teams...hopefully next season...we have a lot to look forward to based on the games I saw.
  19. St. Cloud did lay an egg....I hate to say that as I was really cheering for the Minnesota girls to kick some NY, Trinidad, etc, etc....butt!!! Quigley had a horrendous night (something like 5/20)...pretty much off her game....sound familiar??? The one bright spot...Hanson....outstanding!! Congrats to the Huskies for getting that far...I watched it on ESPNU and I was thinking through the whole first half that they were not playing their game...just like UND. At half-time it was 29-29....they had their chances, the hoop seemed to have a lid over it! Great job for SCSU...they are a much better team than what it seemed like watching it. Quigley really struggled, but Hanson...even after the ankle tweak was great and #10 had some great defense for a couple of runs...I'm now a GVS fan...go Michigan
  20. It was a very disappointing night...almost difficult to watch. UND did not play their game at all. Playing timid is never going to get you very far. SCSU deserved the win last night. Classy comments from their coach in the paper. I just want to thank the team for a great season. It has been a pleasure to watch from November thru March. It didn't end how we wish it would have, but it was a tremendous season. To the seniors, Kristi and Amy, what a privilige to see them play. They will be missed. The one bright spot, the freshmen. One can only imagine how much they will improve to become the Amy's and Kristi's. I'll be ready for next season!!!! Outstanding season Ladies...thanks for being a bright spot for UND athletics throughout the season!
  21. If you've never witnessed Fessler at a game while "coaching", it appears he is as irritating in print as he is in person. Those comments sound like sour grapes to me and I question even printing the Quigley vs Langen comment. I'd take Ashley anyday too....if the Sioux play up to there potential...I think 35-0 will mean a lot...GO GET "EM SIOX!!!!!
  22. HELLOOOOO!!! Anyone out there?? Way to go Ladies!!!! OUTSTANDING!!!!! Anyone see the Augie-SC game?? It looks like the score indicates no problem for SCSU. I can't believe no one has anything to say about a 33-0 team??? Keep up the good work Sioux!!!
  23. congrats to Boese and Langen, but what a joke!!! No Mahlum or Jahner...and Kimbrough's numbers are definately better.
