  1. I don't know either...obviously, it's nice to let the seniors play as much as possible and if things are going well on the floor..I guess no need to sub. I think the bench is contributing pretty well..it's just hard to put up points if you don't get in or get a chance to get into the flow of the game...all part of coming off of the bench. Couldn't say as to why minutes seem to have been cut for all the non-starters... everyone has had their turn for an "off" night...maybe it's just because we are approaching tournament time but the one thing about this team is it seems no matter who is off, whether non-starter or starter...someone always steps up...it's a great team! I understand the point you make in your link, but I have great confidence that our bench could produce more than 1 point.
  2. I think if you look at the stats, a lot of the "drop-off it production" has to do with playing time. It's pretty hard to be productive when you play 2 minutes in a half, which is what Ledger and Kimbrough and some others have had in the past few games. I think when they get in, the bench does well but that's a downside to being so deep...if there is a downside...getting playing time for everyone. The posts are playing well..rebounding..blocking shots, etc but as they say...if it ain't broke...don't fix it...we are 28-0. I too, was wondering why Robinette was getting to walk down the floor, but I'm not going to second guess an undefeated season thus far!! Anyone know why Sannes was in street clothes last night? Good Job Ladies...Go Fighting Sioux!!!
  3. I second your props for Amy...the Sioux seem set for the future years, but the position they are most going to miss is Amy, IMO. I cannot say enough about Kristi...outstanding..unselfish..talented...over all probably the best player out on the floor. BUT...have you ever really watched a game...Amy directs the whole floor...in St. Cloud, it was almost as she had to tell the whole team where to be. That is going to be hard to replace, and she can do it when the place is loud. I'm with you on the seniors tho...way to go...hope they get a National Championship out of it..they most certainly deserve it
  4. I know that some friends of ours applied for season tickets and some kind of VIP package (not sure if that just includes parking in a closer lot or what) but they waited forever to get them and when they finally arrived, they are in row R, that is pretty close to nosebleed, so I think there may be some assigned seats way up there. It is a shame to have to turn away paying customers who not only will spend money to get in the door, but will probably drop some $ once they are inside. Yes, it can increase the hoopla, but it can also lead people to think "why bother going...I won't get a ticket anyway." Something should be done...if it involves playing in the Ralph, I hope the teams get to practice there too, otherwise it's not really home court to them either. Fortunatley, I think this is going to be an ongoing problem...at least for the women, because the future looks very bight for them!
  5. I am thinking they have not...let's hope the game tomorrow or at least on the 2nd of February proves your point. The game at SCSU drew over 4800 pitted against a hockey game (as you pointed out) I would say close to half of those in attendance were from UND...one would expect a full capacity crowd for that one...it could be a problem. I don't think some people understand that basketball could be drawing big numbers for a while..and not against DI teams (that would be awesome..to play NDSU or the Gophers) but against good teams within the conference.
  6. I guess I can see why SCSU would not change much...#4 should lose to #2, at least on paper, and they played well...almost won. I think it's more surprising that UMD only fell one, with a loss to USD and especially if the unfortunate injury to Dietz will leave her out indefinitely.
  7. I too was hardly whining and hardly talking about ESPN or SI...I was talking about the SIOUX board and the GRAND FORKS Herald. Again, congrats to NDSU on the upset and gaining national media attention, but really, I'll remember a great season (which will hopefully end up with going far into the play-offs if not all the way) longer than the Bison's current 15 minutes of fame. (for now...when they can do this on a continual basis and make it into tournaments...then I'll give 'em the props they deserve...)
  8. and by our own message board and home town newspaper. On my way to St. Cloud, i thought I'd pick up a Herald and read up on the big match up...I mean two undefeated teams ranked 2 and 4 in the nation. Not one word printed in the Saturday paper...no mention of the game. Sunday, thought I'd buy a St. Cloud paper...story on the front page and in the sports page. Thought I'd buy a Herald when I got close enough, you know, get some real home town coverage and praise....PATHETIC!! first, you have to really look to find the article. While I think it's great that NDSU upset Wisconsin (everyone loves that) I think it is really sad how apathetic most seem to be about the womens basketball program. If that's because it's DII, it's ridiculous, but then I suppose something should be done. Would the program have more attention/support if it were DI and from time to time won an upset instead of being 22-0? Yes, let's give credit where credit is due...way to go Sioux ladies...let's pack the Betty for them!!
  9. Not me...ever heard of an undefeated season...Boese and Mallum deserve nothing better...Iowa guy said it best...that's the great thing about depth...and freshmen...they don't know any better and someone always seems to pick up the slack...it is a very talented team! Go Sioux on Saturday...and until April (just to cover all the bases!)
  10. Nice job for the ladies! 21-0...Started off a little shaky..but a W is a W. Saturday should be awesome!
  11. Couldn't agree more!! Me too...hope to get to that one..should be a great match-up!
  12. I meant the game tonight...I know what you meant...20-0...gotta love that!!! What's so great about this team is that they are a team...you never know who is going to shine, but they all take their turn to show up! I'm hoping for GREAT things!
  13. Horrible start!! What's the deal with the radio/internet feed??? The 2nd ranked team in the nation...and we can't get decent radio?? At least it was good for the second half...way to go ladies!! Awful begining, but a W is a W!! Hats off to Maffin!
  14. I guess I'm kind of glad this is a problem, because that means the program is going well and people are out to see the basketball team. My thoughts are that I think the bathroom situation is ok. The concession stands in the hallway should not be used, use each end for that. Perhaps the whole lobby could be opened up with more workers with scanners so that when people come in the door, those with tickets already can go to the left and those who need to purchase tickets could use doors more on the right and get their tickets. The FSC perhaps could meet somewhere else. (weight room, Olympic rink area?? not exactly sure what type of area they need) I too have taken children to the games and it is hard to take a tantrum somewhere..I try the upper area or area behind bleachers. My biggest disappointment is the scoreboard. That could be easily fixed, but takes a lot of money. All in all, I think that the Betty is a beautiful facility. Much nicer than other places. Yes, more planning should have been put into it, but unless they want to do some reconstruction, I think we are crying over spilled milk. I guess we should wait and see how much of a problem this is and how long we can keep attendence up so that it is a problem in the long term. One nice thing was the atmosphere...nice and loud and looked full..great advantage to the home team.
  15. If that's true, then it would be a good thing. I don't follow swimming, but i've seen several posts on here saying that even some of the mens best times (I'm not sure if that's here at UND or at NCAA D-II swimming meets) wouldn't even qualify for certain womens events at the D-I level. I don't know if that's correct or not and that's what I was referring to, but certainly signing better athletes would have something to do with that.
  16. I am not trying to be smacky either, but... This is the one program currently with a legitimate chance of winning not one, but several national championships in the next few years (excluding hockey of course) From previous posts on this board, it sounds like swimming/diving would take a huge hit too as far as being competitive. Track also. As I stated earlier...I don't know much about all of this. Is there separate play-offs for DI-AA? Who have the previous good teams/champions been? Do they compete against traditional D-I teams and are eligible to play in the traditional bowl games? Does the average person know? I do agree with this. At least NDSU made their decision and they are getting done with this limbo period. I'm not sure it matters much now that NDSU is D-I, but when they are done with the time period..it will.
  17. So are we to sacrifice all other programs for football?? I don't know a lot about all of the different levels and certainly not a lot about football, but I have heard comments like "DI-AA is just glorified D-II", it is still not on the level of USC, Texas, Florida, etc. Is it just the increase in scholarships that would improve UND's success at this I-AA level?? Why are we not successful at winning a National Championship at the D-II level, but going DI-AA will make us even better??
  18. I guess this whole recruiting thing confuses me. It seems some kids just want to play D-I and don't care if they ever get anywhere in the play offs...they just want to say they play D-I. (this is ridiculous to me) Some talented kids go to established D-II programs (Womens BB @ UND) because they are not interested in playing on D-I teams that are not even play-off eligible for years or are not very successful programs, they would rather play for a title, even at the D-II level. I honestly believe that our women's bb team is as good and could compete with a number of low to midlevel D-I schools. If UND was to say it is going D-I, how many of those currently on this team would have made different choices because they don't want to play on a play-off ineligible team? They would have went to established D-I programs or to strong D-II programs. If UND is to go D-I, be prepared to stink for a long time...it just takes that to get through the ridiculous amount of time the NCAA makes you wait to be in the play-offs. Unfortunately, if UND does go D-I, they will have to go through this long period sooner or later. Also, one argument used now is that our geographical location hurts us in recruiting on the D-II level...and this will be a bonus on the D-I level how?
  19. That's GREAT news...now, let's just get there!!! GO FIGHTING SIOUX!!!
  20. Hmmm...and this at the D-II level with mostly local (many within a 100 mile radius) talent. I don't know what to think about the men's coaching situation, but I doubt you'll recruit many players at any level with such dismal success.
  21. That makes sense (if any of this can make sense). I was thinking it was a matter of covering logos, etc.
  22. what about having it at the Alerus??...not true home court, but a lot more fans could be there which is most of the advantage. (this provided of course if/when we get to that point..don't mean to put the cart before the horse.)
  23. but gets beat by a NCC DII school. (UMD) I don't agree that going DI for the most part is a better brand of basketball...sure the big names are, but as the previous post pointed out...shooting that poorly is not great basketball. Right now the women are playing some pretty d#@* good basketball...fast paced and exciting with contributions from all. They have a real shot at a national championship, but it seems some people don't think that counts for much because it's DII. I feel the transition period would be very difficult to get through, but I suppose it has to be gone through at some point if you make the change...maybe that needs to be changed..why should it be such a long period?
  24. I'll spot ya' $20...but only if it says S-I-O-U-X!!!!
