Berry screwed up on the whole NODAK logo issue. Nobody knows for sure exactly what his involvement was but admittedly the optics are not great. He needed to be better handling this. As far as the Mitch Miller thing, UND knew his past and I think Berry thought he could bring him in and make him a part of the Sioux family and mature the kid. Again, optics not great but UND ultimately cut Miller loose. Berry is no longer head coach due to issues on and off the ice; we should be willing to leave it at that.

We know very little of the background on this. I'm not a Berry apologist but it's a stretch to say one thing had anything to do with the other. "Hey guys, I'm not going on the recruiting trip we had planned; I have to stay and clean up this NODAK nickname mess first."
