  1. If it's not an option to select a non-smoking room when you purchase it on Priceline, just call the hotel once you have your reservation. I've gotten rooms on there before that I've needed to be 2 beds (which you can't specify when booking your room on Priceline) but once I've made my reservation I just call the hotel and reqest that my room is 2 double beds. It's never been an issue in the past.
  2. Let's not stop there. Why don't we get them started off on the right foot by supplying them with a reffing crew, from the refs all the way up to their very own Supervisor of Officials. We'll call it our housewarming gift!
  3. Yes. Johnson to leave Force for St. Cloud State
  4. And the post of the year award goes to...Diggler. I second this motion.
  5. Are you on drugs? You don't think there would be any issues raised if the NCAA said that the REA could not host postseason games but they'd allow them to be held at the United Center - with both buildings having very similar imagery? Neither building can be "governed" by the NCAA. Apples to apples.
  6. I think you misread The Sicatoka's comment. I don't believe that comment said anything about controlling the United Center or its affiliated teams. It was more about the imagery in the United Center and how hypocritical it would be to allow NCAA games or tournaments to be played there. Just as the NCAA doesn't have any control over the REA, we unfortunately are witnessing that the NCAA does seem to have "absolute power" to govern UND - which is sickening.
  7. I think there may be some "issues" between the REA management and the management at the UP Center. If you remember when the REA placed a bid for next year's World Junior Championship the 2nd arena that the REA partnered with was the Moorhead Sports Center. I don't have details and I'm not in the know, but I do believe I heard rumblings that the REA said they'd never partner with the UP Center as long as the current management was in place at the UP Center, or something to that effect. In my opinion, if this is true that's too bad. The REA partnering with the UP Center would be a perfect fit.
  8. That is very sad to hear. I cringed every time I saw an update to this thread because I feared it would be an update like this. Perry, you and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
  9. Couldn't have said it better myself. EDIT: Another phrase that comes to mind is "cut off your nose to spite your face".
  10. 2nd and 15th picks...I like it! Forbot going 15th would even be better!
  11. Oh, wouldn't that make DaveK proud!
  12. Obviously I was wrong in my prediction of how the Bruins/Flyers series was going to go, but maybe this article helps explain my point on Philly's fans. I do understand that not ALL Philly fans may be like this, but I do think there's something in the water (or whatever they're drinking) in Philadelphia. Philly fans trash Canadian's car
  13. Dad passed on him with the #8 pick and Uncle picked him up with the #11 pick...yes, that is interesting. For some reason I thought he was already drafted by Lincoln.
  14. Yeah, I hear ya Goon. I will say one thing...I'm really glad the B's have Rask - next year he'll be even better with this year's experience under his belt. He's going to be (and already is) a stud between the pipes. As for the remainder of this year's playoffs, I really hope Toews can bring the Cup to Chicago. If not, it's SJ's year. If Philly or Montreal wins it I'll be sick.
  15. I'm stunned right now. Seriously, I can't believe it. Last year the Bruins were the #1 seed and lost in the 2nd round to Carolina after Aaron Ward got sucker punched by Scott Walker - and then Walker scores the series winning goal after not being suspended for an offense that carries a mandatory suspension. This year they were the 6 seed and up 3 games to 0 against the Flyers. Before game 7, they knew the 8th seeded hated Montreal Canadiens were awaiting them. Only twice has an NHL team ever come back from down 0-3, and I believe only 3 times has this happened in any sport. If there was any year for the B's to make the Finals, it was this year. Trounce the Canadiens in the Eastern Conference Finals and on to play the winner of Chicago/San Jose. Man...I can't believe it. My only hope now is that whoever wins the West can win the Cup...and more specifically, the Chicago Blackhawks. And no, unlike DaveK I take no solace in the Bruins outlasting the Capitals, Sabres, Devils, Senators, Avalanche, Predators, Kings, and Coyotes. They still lost.
  16. Yet another lame, bullsh!t reply. Just because I might disagree with the decision the university is making by dropping the name doesn't mean that I don't like the hockey team, or enjoy watching them play. You don't have to stop donating to UND, but others might believe that's the best way to make themselves heard. Since you're so involved with this issue and happy with the decision and spending all of your time out here on SiouxSports.com weighing in on the topic, I'm sure you're going to continue donating, and possibly increase your donations, right?
  17. Ha...yes, I know what you are saying. I've held off from replying to MplsBison for this entire debate, but for some reason the whole "being a hypocryte if you stop donating to UND but still go to athletic events" argument got to me this time. I must have been caught in a weak moment, and I replied!
  18. I don't donate money to UND...I do go to hockey games. If you want to count buying tickets for hockey, buying a beer or 2 at the game and buying UND apparel as donating to the athletic department...then the answer is yes, I guess. That being said...I don't disagree with those that do donate to UND that disagree with what is going on saying that they are going to stop donating, at least for the time being. Nothing wrong with that in my opinion.
  19. I agree with you, Goon...but it sounds like he might be playing on the first line with Bergeron and Recchi tomorrow night. That should be interesting. If he does play there he better produce! One thing I must say...I am glad that Toronto took Kessel off the Bruins hands and then crapped their pants this season, so now the B's will get either Taylor Hall or Tyler Seguin with the 2nd pick overall in the upcoming draft. To all the Leaf fans in the audience, I thank you! Julien switches things up at practice
  20. Sorry...I guess I didn't realize it was the athletic department that is making the decision to drop the name. My bad.
  21. This is such a BS reply. If you don't agree with what is going on at UND, one of the ways that you can make that known is by withholding donations. What is so wrong with that? Just because someone doesn't donate doesn't mean they can't still like the hockey team, football team, etc. When a professional athlete screws up, what happens? They get suspended and fined. They hit them where it hurts and where they'll feel it. You don't like what's going on at UND, there is nothing wrong with withholding your donations. That's where they'll feel it and you can make your point known. Are there other ways to do this? Sure. But which way will get people's attention more? You may not like people withholding donations and that's fine...you don't have to like it. But quit chastizing people for their decision to handle it this way.
  22. Well then...congratulations to you and your team on getting beat in the 2nd round instead of the 1st! A job well done!
  23. No worries, Goon. They'll pull it out tonight in front of Philly's loony fans. Rask has been one of the best goalies so far in the playoffs - he just needs the guys up front to put a few in. Pittsburgh fans (DaveK) better hope that Halak isn't on his game tonight like he has been for most of the playoffs or you're in trouble! But I suppose even if the Pens do lose, you can call up Alexander Ovechkin and say "Hey, the Pens made it 1 round further than you - even though we lost to the same team, therefore we're better than you"! (or something like that).
  24. The definition of guts: A man is out for a night out with the fellas and comes home at 2 a.m. reeking of booze and cigar smoke and his wife is in the kitchen with a broomstick in her hand. He looks at her and says "Are you just finishing cleaning up the kitchen or are you going to fly away on that thing?" The definition of balls: A man is out for a night out with the fellas and comes home at 2 a.m. reeking of booze, cigar smoke, perfume and has lipstick on his collar and his wife is in the kitchen with a broomstick in her hand. He looks at her and as he walks by slaps her on the a$$ and says "You're next, fatty!"
