Good article - there's a piece in here that deals directly with Kane, Kesler and the linemate issue from 2010. Dan Bylsma feeling sense of urgency

Instead of consistently being talked about as the greatest US sports moment in history, it would be "I seem to recall that US hockey won a game against the Soviets in 1980, or something like that, and it was a pretty big deal at the time". I also like hearing about the story where Brooks addressed the team before the game against the Finns. A part of that story was told in that video, but the PG version. The way it was told to me was that Herb walked in and all he told the team that if they lost this game they'd take it to their graves. As he walked out, he stopped, turned around and yelled "TO YOUR F__ING GRAVES!" Gives me goosebumps just thinking about that moment in time...how huge it was, what it meant, etc.

C'mon, MM. That's not even close to what gfhockey would say. In your post there are exactly 0 misspellings and 0 double lettered words.

On the eve of the men's Olympic hockey tournament starting, I thought this would be a great video to share. A great quote from the video at 2:28: "I would say the most important decision that Herb made was when he took David Christian and moved him from center ice. By making David Christian a defenseman, all of a sudden we got the puck out of our end consistently...changed the whole team." - Lou Vairo, 1980 coaching program director, USA Hockey http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5nfgTJaT_Vs

I have an ESPN app on my phone and it has a live tile that shows scores. It'll be nice seeing "Senators 2, Bruins 7" on there for the next couple weeks!

It's before 2:30 and gfhockey's already sauced. Just another Saturday I suppose...

VIDEO: Shanley baseball coach of 14 years says contract not renewed due to complaint about text message
-
There are a couple kinds of parents: 1. Parents that would see this text and tell their kid they better make sure they start going to the open gym activities if they want to get better and be a leader on the team. 2. Parents that would see this text and run to the school bitching, saying the coach is being mean and needs to be fired. The world could use a lot more of #1 type parents.

It's a sad state of affairs when a coach loses a job over one parent's complaint like this. From what is reported the coach had no chance to address the issue, he was just told he was done. We're becoming soft, and that's my way of putting it nicely. Shanley baseball coach says contract not renewed due to complaint about text message

So Steven Stamkos is not able to make the trip to Sochi. Who will Yzerman take? Can you imagine if he passes on Martin St. Louis a 2nd time? That might get ugly in Tampa! I'd say it's down to Giroux and St. Louis, and my money's on St. Louis. And did I also hear correctly that Mikko Koivu is not going to be able to play for Finland?
-
You're like the little sibling that loves to argue and has to have the last word. I don't think I've complained at all. In fact, I said it was "funny" that you called it out. No complaining here, m'boy.

Are you guys talking about Huskie women again?!

HA - it would take a heck of a lot more than you pointing out 1 Bruins loss to get under my skin! You know what might get under my skin? If the Bruins were to go into the playoffs as the #1 seed in the East and the Penguins were to sweep them in the semifinals.

If the Wild would be in the running for the Cup this year, I could see trying to get him before the deadline. However, they if they're relatively sure that Minnesota is one place that he'd like to go (which it sounds like) then there's no reason to do anything this year. As you say, just wait until the season is over and he's a UFA, then sign him in the offseason and prepare for next year. If I'm reading this right, next year they have 17 players under contract for a cap hit of just over $52M, and the projected cap is $71M, so they'll have room to sign guys. CapGeek - Minnesota Wild

So I'm sure you have some examples of this? Because I'd like to see them. And no, I'm not a thin-skinned Bruins fan. You can post as much as you want about the Penguins and Bruins. I just thought it was funny the way you had to specifically call out the Bruins loss - one loss after a stretch of winning 5 of 6 and outscoring opponents 28-16, and they're the division leader by 4 points with games in hand! I suppose I could see you enjoying a Bruins loss if they were on the verge of missing the playoffs, not in the case I mentioned - but that's just me. I actually find amusement in your Bruins posts and take them as a compliment.

Again, I'm not so sure what you're saying, Dave. I'm guessing you're saying that I throw out random $hit about the Gophers to troll Gopher fans? For example, the Gophers could be ranked #1 overall and on a streak of 14 games without a loss (maybe a shootout or 2 thrown in there) where they've outscored their opponents 45-25, but then they happen to lose 1 game and I come out here and talk about how great of a day for hockey it is because they lost one game, therefore making me look like an uneducated dumbass. Sure, they're still ranked #1, still lead their league by a wide margin, but I call out 1 game that they lost and say how much the Gophers suck. If you'd like, I can teach you about the difference between having a difference of opinion or debating different topics (i.e. Bruins/Penguins, Sioux/Gophers) and throwing out stupid comments that make a person look like a foolish troll.

Glass houses? I guess I'm not sure what you even mean by that. I mean, I understand what the saying means, but I don't understand how it applies here. Because you and I have differing views on topics, favorite teams, etc...what does that have to do with this? Please enlighten me.

I don't mind the outdoor games...I just don't like 6 outdoor games each year...overkill. Keep it to 1 game per year and that would be fine. To answer your question - yes, I would watch the Sioux/Gophers outdoors, I think that would be fun.
