  1. I heard that a lot of Sioux players and fans wear "prairie rose" pink underwear to the games for good luck!
  2. Section 108 Row 6 Seats 9-10 where I can keep an eye on Sioux Hockey Fanatic practicing her religion. Is Dance Mania a religion?
  3. Yeah, in his radio interview before the next game he said he was "blindsided" and didn't remember much about the hit. Just that he had a tooth in his mouth afterwards. I would be "angry" about that too.
  4. This was entertaining. 24 from USCHO

It's just having a name with the word "sucks" in it.
  7. The Long Haul! Its a hoppin place before and after games.
  8. Are you THE REAL Mullet Man? GO SIOUX.
  9. Not all Native Americans feel the same way GK feels.. thankgoodness! No matter what I say I would be wrong, because I am a white girl. I see Ft. Totten Sioux (home of the Four Winds Indians) proudly sporting their UND Sioux hats, UND Sioux sweatshirts, UND Sioux jackets, UND Sioux t-shirts, and UND Sioux hockey and football jerseys daily.. only 13 miles from the reservation! But then they wouldn't know anything according to some. I think the NCAA has done much more harm than good in this whole fiasco! They.. the NCAA.. have brought so much attention to THEIR issue that all Native Americans have been pushed into an uncomfortable position.. being asked about their feelings, being looked at.. because people are wondering how they feel about the issue (they just don't dare ask), and other nationalities now feeling like they have to tip toe around hoping they are not offending anyone.. with anything, not just the names anymore! And there will always be some idiot on either side of the issue putting their foot in their mouth. Thats life. How long will it be before a nationality or group claims a simple color and causes others grief about wearing it? Oh yeah, that already happens.. in a warped society. Now I suppose I have offended someone. Thank you NCAA, you really screwed up this one!!!
  10. Our family takes Amtrak on an annual ski/snowboard trip to Whitefish, MT. The kids get on in St Paul and Grand Forks, and we board at Devils Lake at 6:30 AM and get to Whitefish at 9:00 PM mountain time. We paid $17 each way (each) for our tickets from Devils Lake one year. We have our reservations made to go to Milwaukee on Amtrak for the Frozen Four. I certainly hope the team does their thing again this year and joins us!
  11. Amtrak between Grand Forks and Minneapolis (one way) is only $34.85 with the 15% discount code of V524 (from the St Paul CVB website). You can make the reservation and pay once you are on the train, if you do not have time to pick up your tickets. Normal price is $41. Call 1-800-872-7245 to make reservations. Thats how I am getting to Minneapolis this weekend, and back again on Sunday.
  12. I'm sure someone would have a hissy fit over us still using feathers in our logo.
  13. Does what you just posted here make any sense to you at all? What does the person I am have to do with the Vikings Football team?
  14. Does going to a Norwegian language class, keeping in touch with relatives in Norway, hosting a Norwegian foreign exchange student, making Krumkaker, Lutefisk, Swedish Meatballs, Klubb, Flatbread, Fattigmann, Risgrot, Rommegrot, and Lefse! count? How about tracing my ancestory back to the 1300's? (My ancestors came to the US in the 1800s to avoid starving to death.) Oh, and how about doing Hardanger as a pasttime? It's just a part of me, but I don't put others down because they didn't learn those things from their parents. I took a class to try to learn a little bit about the Native American culture through the local college here in Devils Lake a few years ago. Have you taken any classes to try to understand my culture? I just don't get it. I am blonde, female, and Norwegian. Am I offended by the jokes and comments made about dumb blondes or dumb Norwegians? Not one bit. Could I be offended? Certainly, but thats not how I deal with things. Besides teaching me how to cook good Norwegian food, and sing a few Norwegian songs; my dad taught me to look at the good side of things. A valuable asset in dealing with life. I hope I have passed that on to my children. Maybe you would do your children well to teach them the same. If you don't, then I really don't get it.
  15. There are almost always tickets available at 10:00 Thursday AM before the home series. They are in the student section and are what is reserved for the students. If the students do not buy them all by Thursday, they go on sale to the general public. The ticket office at The Ralph opens at 10:00 AM. I see there are also some listed on ticketmaster now too. (And there were none available yesterday.) I hope this helps. You just cannot bring alcohol into the student section, but they are great seats with lots of "school spirit".
  16. Here are some more links to stories in the news and blogs concerning name changes. (I apologize if any of these links are repeats.) And MY opinion: I believe that how people feel about anything of this nature is all in the ATTITUDE people have of both themselves and of others and I find it always interesting, sometimes sad, often times exciting, and too often disgusting. Competition brings something out in people, whether we are fans or players. And yes, fans for AND against the Fighting Sioux have made mistakes in all the hype, as we are all humans. But let
