Anybody here think that the fact that Toews is now a national hero of sorts in Canada will help the Sioux in recruiting Canadian kids? Maybe not a huge effect, but some?
-
I, too, am surprised that they didn't factor in Trupp. From what I've read, he's has the potential to be a real difference maker.

.911 is still pretty good, isn't it? It's actually slightly better than the save percentage attributed to Eidsness. Just wondering....not making any judgement.

Is this the type of goalie recruit that many on this board have been"clamoring" for?
-
Haven't seen any reports on this thread for awhile.......anybody have any news? (Make sure it's good news-we Sioux fans could sure use some).

Born and raised in Mayville, ND, live there now, had a 7 year stint in Warroad, MN.

Dartmouth Tournament? Anybody Making the Trip To Hanover, NH
Sodbuster replied to AussieSiouxFan's topic in Men's Hockey
Better check to see if the Sioux team is going.....maybe it'll be just a bunch of guys with skates on......as we've seen lately. Sorry... I apologize...just got done witnessing the latest...fizzle. -
For me, it's official.........watching Sioux hockey so far this year is akin to watching Viking football....you just wait for what's going to go wrong......I can't say any more without blowing up......Geeezzzz

Joe Colborne.........there was a Dave Colborne out of Canada who played with the Sioux back in, I believe, the mid 70's until he ran into some kind of elegibility problem. Was an excellent player, if my fading memory serves me right. Any relation, I wonder?

And like I said in another thread, the other teams practice, too.
-
I hope you two kiss and make up so the rest of us can still get some inside info on recruits once in a while.
-
One thing we all gotta remember........the other teams practice. too.

Okay. I remember that letter now. I actually dismissed it as soon as I read it. Someone's emotions bested their reason.

#1Hakfan, Why did you think that?

Thanks, Iceberg! I'll let you know.

I see there are tape-delay broadcasts of these games in Anchorage. Too bad sonething can't be worked out with FSSN so we could also view them on tape-delay. I don't care what time or day they would end up being on.

Somewhat off topic here, and maybe it has been adressed ealier in this or another thread, but I assume there'll be no hockey segment of the Fighting Sioux Coaches' Show??? Or is someone subbing?

Aw, pleeeeeeeeze, one more hint?! (It's a slow day. I need some excitement and stimulation)

Actually, I've been in fifth grade for 26 years! Some guys never learn. Brian Lee came to our school as a favor to one of our students who is a neighbor of his at the lake in the summer. Brian was this 2nd grader's "show and tell." I had the brother of this student in class last year, and the parents knew I was a big Sioux fan. This is how he happened to come to my room, as he didn't visit all the rooms.

I told him that when I taught in Warroad , MN, that I got to hold ex-Sioux Dave Christian's 1980 Olympic gold medal in my hand a few days after the Olympics were over. He said that Dave is his next door neighbor in Moorhead. Small world.

Brian Lee came to visit my fifth grade classroom today. A very, very nice young man! Had a good (but too short) visit with him. Very personable and easy to talk to. My students were thrilled. He had a great handshake!

During last night's intermission between the 2nd and 3rd period, Tim Hennesy was interviewing some official (I never did catch who he was or in what capacity he served) from the USHL and he positively gushed about LaPoint. Among the things he said was that LaPoint was among the top 5 USHL plsyers right now and that he would for sure be an impact player for UND when he steps in.

Polls at the beginning of the year are like batting averages after 5-6 games. Some guys are hitting .800 and some are hitting .078.... you know you aren't supposed to put much stock in them. They have to have someone ranked #1, #2, #3 etc. No big deal.

Mayville-Portland.......and after that, any Class B town in the state!

I live in a town of about 2,000 midway between Fargo and GF, and from what I have observed over the last few years, I'd say it's about 80/20 in favor of the Sioux (as opposed to NDSU). We have gatherings to watch Sioux FB and hockey on TV at a local establishment, and they,re very well atended. Of course, the Bison are hardly on TV for any sport, so it's maybe not a fair comparison. (this post is in responce to the AC reference) I would say in my small town, there is STRONG Sioux support.
