2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SiouxFanatic replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
If he gets drafted within the top 10, can see him as a one and done after UND wins #9. -
Re-watching this games reminds me of how fun it was to have Brett Hextall on the team. He was so damn good at agitating the opposing team into doing something stupid.

You need a Worst Sioux hockey memories thread.

2020-21 University of North Dakota Hockey Season

Really unfortunate deal. I really feel like Tychonick progressively got better as the season went on. Honestly, as I said during one of the game threads, I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to look elsewhere for playing time. Now if he transfers to Duluth or Denver.... -

Link: https://www.prohockeyrumors.com/2020/03/college-notes-dhooghe-rathbone-flames-ufas.html Don’t know how much stock to put in this considering the author thinks the Wisconsin player that transferred to ASU is a defenseman. It’d suck to see Guch go but I understand wanting to strike a good deal while the iron is hot.

Or the debacle against BC in Denver the season after. Silver lining is Jake Marto scoring a goal to break the shutout. $&@%ing Nathan Gerbe. It sure was nice attending the Madison Square Garden game to see UND finally get over that streak of losing to BC.

2007-2008 season, North Dakota was down 4-1 to George Gwozdecky’s Denver University only for UND to rally with Andrew Kozek scoring the game tying goal and the gaming winning goal ultimately getting a hat trick. It was an awesome game. Andrew Kozek GWG: Another fond UND memory from that year is another Andrew Kozek GWG, this time in OT against Wisconsin in the Midwest Regional that was hosted in Madison. This was the year Wisconsin made the tournament with a losing record. Of course, the rule was changed after.

Spring sports, makes sense. Don’t know how it’d work for winter sports when essentially almost the entire season had been played. Granted, they are missing out on the tournament which is pretty damn big part to miss out on due to outside impact. I know the logistics of it wouldn’t be easy but it would’ve been better if the NCAA postponed the tournament indefinitely to leave some wiggle room as well as hope. Perfect opportunity to try campus hosted regionals again? Maybe instead of 4 regionals, do a East and West super regionals? As long as the NHL and all other hockey leagues are suspended, the players have no where to leave for.

I do agree. Didn’t Denver do similar thing with Matthew Savoie and the kid still ended up going to the CHL? Would be an amazing get but I don’t think anything will come of this.

The chances of getting him doesn’t seem very high when he left one team to go play on the same team as his older brother, who is a Michigan commit.

Saying this way too soon and not because of the result of a game... A small silver lining is that this 2019-2020 UND hockey team did win some hardware at least. Obviously not the ultimate prize but still an achievement. I just wanted to say thank you seniors for making it a mission to turn the fortunes of the program around. You were successful! Still feels surreal....I’ll probably add more later.

As it becomes more and more likely that the season is over....I am sad. I can understand but still feel bad for all student-athletes. We will look back on this season and think what if.

Agreed. What a day this has been!

I am getting that distinct feeling as well. I certainly hope not but understand hard decisions will have to be made for the safety of the public.

First confirmed case of Coronavirus in North Dakota. Ward county resident in their 60’s. https://www.kxnet.com/news/local-news/first-case-of-coronavirus-confirmed-in-north-dakota/?utm_medium=social&utm_source=facebook_KX_News_Minot&fbclid=IwAR1jkw7Ww0SALpp-waIfd9X2ISlor94LvBJ71udW0G5EpzxxZLbxj0zfTAw

Charter for all?!?

So with the recent announcement from the NCAA in regards to COVID-19, I'm guessing brackets should be pretty straight forward considering "moving teams for attendance" is now moot. Only gotta worry about first round intraconference matchups.
