Was at both games this weekend. The Saturday night game was a tremendous game, a real barn burner. The Sioux transition game was really flying at times, especially in the first period. Both goalies played outstanding. From what I have seen this year, Williams for MSU is as good a goalie as anyone in the WCHA. He made some incredible saves both nights. Gothberg played great tonight too. Twice I thought Grimaldi was going to win the game from point blank up the middle and both times Williams made the save. MSU is a very good team. They skate and pass very well and they have outstanding goaltending. I would guess their primary weakness is lack of experience at being this good. While it is disappointing the Sioux lost the game, they had their chances to win this game and MSU rose to the occasion. It was great skating, and not the junk that BSU and WI play. I had several different MSU fan groups comment to me after the Saturday night game that UND and the program are a class act. If anything, the last two weekends have shown how much this team misses Brock Nelson. While Grimaldi fits well on the top line, it is putting all your eggs in one basket and Bemidji showed it is possible to shut down that line, especially if the officiating cooperates. Rocco fit in very well with the Rowney line and made it a threat. The problem is there needs to be someone to play with Kristo and Knight. Nelson would have filled that nicely and UND would be a powerhouse. The best solution would be to leave Grimaldi with Rowney if someone else can be found that can mesh with the top line. It is a hell of a situation to be in heading into the playoffs.

Make no mistake, MSU dominated early but UND stepped it up in the second and third periods.

Do not believe the shot totals from last night. The stat guy was not crediting the Sioux with shots and missed at least four in the first period. Sioux got outshot but not by those numbers.

Nobody will play more than two games. Only four teams make the tourney at the Target Center.

Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman are going to Mankato. Who else is going, and can we get enough Sioux fans to turn it into more of a home game atmosphere like Omaha and Denver?

NORTH DAKOTA vs. BEMIDJI STATE - Saturday SENIOR NIGHT
Siouxman replied to AZSIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
I am 99.9999% sure (and thankful) the success of this team does not depend upon your feelings, but I understand. I have the same feelings. Actually, with the exception of Quinnipiac I don't feel there is a team out there the Sioux cannot beat. I exclude Quinnipiac because I have only seen them play part of one game. They appeared to be fast, but it could be their opponent was just slow. Looking over this season, there are many teams who looked almost unbeatable at times and since have fallen on tougher times. That includes BU, BC, Notre Dame, MN, and others. While MN hasn't exactly slumped, they haven't been a consistently dominating team either. This year appears to be much more wide open for anyone to take the grand prize. Even Michigan seems to have suddenly pulled it together and could go all the way if they win the CCHA tournament. More than anything, I think UND's goaltending needs to get it together for this team to make the run. They simply cannot get there with average or slightly above average goaltending. -
Bale31 - Is there any kind of ticket exchange that MSU fans use? I am looking for two tickets for the Saturday game. There are only SRO tickets available and that is not accpetable due to a medical condition.

Everyone brings their favorite Gopher stories. If i recall last year, we almost got a Gopher fan to take the swearing in oath for Fighting Sioux Forever club, until he figured out what was going on.

If the Gophers lose tonight look for GPL to melt down and the website to crash.

FINAL Final 5 seat locations and Q's about next year

Mickey's Diner was a treat for a between game meal, in more ways than one. Our first visit there we were in line right behind Georgia Engel, who was in a play at the Ordway at that time. For those too young to know, she played Ted Baxter's girlfriend Georgina on the Mary Tyler Moore show. And yes, that tinky voice is her real voice. The blonde waitress in the diner was right out of Mel's Diner. She bantered with the customers, throwing insults. Her comment to me, dressed in my Sioux clothes, was "We have Gopher fans in here, you know." I replied "Well, they can leave if they can't handle it." After that she left me alone, but it was something to watch and listen. I will also miss St. Patrick's Day around the X when it hit during the Final Five. Something about all that green and the revelry, especially in 2012. Edit: Georgia Engel also played Robert's mother-in-law on Everybody Loves Raymond -

Maybe you need to bring a little less wine to the games??? -
That almost sounds like shortening up the bench and just playing the top guys late in the game until they are too tired to finish.

Nope...I cannot get on board with this. Intent to injure has no place in hockey, absolutely none. Inflicting pain by clean hard hits, yes, but not intent to injure.
