This will be a tough game today. While Yale does not have the goaltending of Niagara, as a team they sell out on defense. There was a clear difference between Minnesota and Yale yesterday. Yale players sacrificed everything to block the Gopher shots and a number of their players payed a painful price. MN threw over 80 shots at goal but only 28 made it on net. While quite a few comments are being made about Hakstol's third period line changes in the Niagara game, everyone seems to be overlooking that he also shortened the bench in the third period. I don't know that he could do that strategy for the whole game without people getting too tired. He basically loaded up two lines in the third and then periodically spotted a third line. Knight and Kristo were on the ice a lot with the power plays and short-handed situations. I think O'Donnell being on the top line allowed him the luxury of four better balanced lines and a more rested team for the third period. I think the Sioux will have better luck against the Yale goaltender today, but that is if they can get to him. Overall I think the Sioux have a decent chance of making it to Pittsburgh. Go Sioux, thank you Yale. We met a number of very nice Gopher fans yesterday and no jerks. They must have stayed home. Most of the Gopher fans were cheering for UND.

Headed for the Grand Woods Lounge in downtown Grand Rapids for lunch and then to the arena. Go Yale. Go Sioux.

For those that weren't there, now you know what it was like at Hoggsbreath with NDH having the mic in his hands.

I think that I got it. They were trying to raise the GPA of the B1G?

MafiaMan - Thanks again for the wonderful job of putting this all together. Everyone-it was great to see the event so well attended this year. Really enjoyed the passing the microphone around and sharing the stories. I think it was great how everyone talked about "GO CC" against the Gophers and then they went out and did it. We heard a lot of crap from Gopher fans on Friday until their game was over, and then not a peep out of a Gopher fan for the rest of the weekend. For those that weren't there, plan on it next year.

Just bought the tickets at Grand Rapids. We will head out on Wednesday.

A real "Dagian" slip there.

Wear the green. No one can mistake you for another team, even from a distance. White or black won't appear as obvious.
-
Come on, NDH, let us know how you really feel. See you at Hoggsbreath Friday!

The real problem is BSU showed how to shut down the Knight-Kristo-Grimaldi lineup. They played Grimaldi very physical and essentially made it a Knight-Kristo line. By moving Grimaldi away from Knight and Kristo they lessen the potential for another team to load up to shut down the top line. I think that could be the cause of the coaches concern with Grimaldi on the top line. OD gives a more physical presence on the top line and Rocco has upgraded Rowney and Parks.

And so it begins. . . . . . .

It is tough when you only have one outlet available.

More than any other sport, with hockey you have to be there to fully enjoy it.

While he did get some lucky bounces against the Sioux, he is a very good goalie. His glove is lightning quick. From what I have seen he is the best goalie in the WCHA. Olkinoura from Denver can play as good, but he throws in a clinker game once in a while. Williams will keep MSU a contender for as long as he stays.

Tell the boys Mom is in charge and Friday morning at 11 am is booked at Hoggsbreath. Nooooo excuses Sioux-cia.

2 We may bring along two others if they get down there on Thursday.

Gotta wear the green so the X takes on a green hue.

Mr. and Mrs. Siouxman will be there. We enjoy the Final Five. So that is at least five of us??

The forecast is lousy. Most of the area is under a winter storm warning until 7 pm Monday night. If you drive up you will likely get there for a nice couple of days in Grand Forks. Good luck. Me, I am unfortunately staying home. I caught a nasty cold, and my wife has stuff on Monday and we can't risk getting stranded in GF. Nice to see you in Mankato.

I believe it was Rowney, Parks, and Mark MacMillan

Observations: 1. Passing was just lazy. No zip to them and by the time someone received a pass MTU player was on them. The lazy passing killed the power plays. A good power play needs crisp passes. 2. UND players do not go to the puck. They stand there and wait for the puck to come to them. Unfortunately, by then an MTU player had stepped in front of them (see #1) and intercepted the pass. 3. When passes were made and got to the Sioux player, they were in the skates or too off target to handle. 4. Gleason was horrible and coughed up the puck all night. 5. Kristo needs to learn to play defense. He was a one way player all night long. 6. This whole team needs to learn to shoot the puck ON NET!. Grimaldi is the worst one on this but others are doing the same thing. There ware way too many wide open nets being missed. 7. All night long MTU baited the Sioux into passing into a trap and then slammed the door. 8. Kristo makes the exact same move time after time trying to skate around someone. They have figured it out and play the body and shut it down. 9. Knight has essentially shut down offensively for some reason. Not only is he not scoring goals, he isn't even setting up others. 10. Way too much trying to skate up the ice one on two or three. A good breakout is accomplished by passing. Get it into the zone with speed and a whole line flying up the ice. I don't think that happened once in this game. 11. Grimaldi is making way too many blind passes without looking. My thoughts tonight is this team is playing like a group of individuals and not like a team.

Well Done Yzerman19. The only pick I might change would be at COTY. I think Hastings needs to be considered. He instituted a whole culture change with that team.

After this weekend, I would be very interested in watching MSU vs WI and would cheer on MSU. Other than Chase Grant (#21 is an after the whistle hack) it would be interesting to see if MSU can get WI on the run.
-
I would be surprised if the top six seeds all make it to St. Paul. With the exception of the UAA, BSU, and MTU, the rest of the teams have shown an ability to beat, or not beat, anyone.

Or MN gets upset by Bemidji. :)
