  1. "w/ these people"......I guess if you want to use our name, you should treat us with a "little" respect, right? I truly hope he tells his "trip to Sioux City" story. That would be a hoot. I'm betting 5-1 that he doesn't even show up for this meeting. But quite honestly, I don't know how he can come off as respectful because half of the comments he makes are BS, and the tribal officials know this....an example of this was on his ESPNRADIO skit. "We've been using the name Sioux almost as long as they have been"......wow, comments like that won't win you anything, especially when you are talking to the true sioux. Don't worry, I have the whole interview on my PDA, so when he denies it, I'll play it back for him, in front of everybody just to remind him of what he said.
  2. Good points. Its hard sometimes staying the course because of all of the crap thrown my way.....you know, even if the name ever does change, we'll still have great teams here at UND.
  3. Put yourself in that place in time. 1930. Lets see, only 5 years ago Injuns weren't considered citizens of this country they have been occupying for 1000's of years. I little over 50 years ago, the 7th was wiped out by the Sioux and Cheyenne. Some people you know probably were alive then for that fight. Reservation are basically boundaries that Indians can't leave. And if you were in this state, there were rules dealing with Indians, "if there were more than 6 in a group, you were allowed to shoot at them". After putting yourself in that era, how could you possibly think that UND started using the name FS because of honor? Hell, its 2005 and we still don't get the respect deserved. If that was the case, the University would have "honored" the wishes of the Sioux Tribes and changed the name by now.
  4. Tomorrow there will be a meeting in Bismark with all of the Sioux Tribal leaders and w/ the heads of UND. I hope to see you all there. If you need a ride, we still have some room (yeah right, but I thought I'd offer anyways). We're leaving at 8am.
  5. This is what happens throughout history, stances change. I've seen a Japanese Submarine moored in Hawaii, don't forget that we, the US, are responsible for training Bin Laden......So what's your point?
  6. While in the military, I spent many, many quality days w/ my weapon. I slept w/ it, at w/ it, cleaned it every chance I got, and when we came back, it was wierd to check it in. I bet if I walked around campus w/ that same M-16, I would be considered "hostile". Ifs funny how different places or different scenarios can warrant different attitudes and beliefs. That picture you are so proud of is a picture of the REAL Sioux, not peoplewhoclaimtohonortheSIOUX. Why can't you understand this?
  7. I was never apart of the cavalry, and if it was up to me, they should have ended the use of the cavalry when we annihilated them in 1876 (at least the 7th, anyways).
  8. First of all, unlike "others" that don't have a life, I am busy raising a famiy and can't be in here 24/7. As for your question, before I answer, WHATEVER I say will never be good enough for you because you are not one who is willing to change. That's why we have institutions like the NCAA who have to make you change. As for Sioux Falls. Sioux Falls was named because that was the name of the water falls in that city. It wasn't because the people said "you know, we should name ourselves Sioux _______ because then we would be good exterminators of the bison, or we could rhyme easier"......no, their name was a part of History. UND's past is not History.....but it is "His"story...by that I mean "Ralphstory". We don't have a problem w/ the names of the towns. But we do have a problem w/ UND. It changed its name to the FS for all the wrong reasons, and now they need to find another logo to worship. I don't know if that answers your question, because I really don't know what you're trying to get out of me.
  9. lolol.....who's doing the bullying?? We are just standing up for ourselves. Why don't you call up the chairpersons/presidents yourself and ask them. Unless your like most of the other people I met on campus that have the "I honor the Sioux but I won't talk to them" mentality. www.ncai.org <--------this website has the names/numbers of ALL of the tribes, including the Sioux Tribes. I'm sure they'd love a call from you.
  10. What I'm comparing is the amount of control that is enforced for the betterment of mankind. Why is no one paying attention to the fact that the SIOUX Nation does not want you to use it? EVERYONE ignores this. HockeyMom, this would be like me telling you that I'm going to honor you by marrying you. Maybe you don't want that, but in my eyes it would be "honor", so why would it be wrong? (Hypothetical, of course)
  11. A. I'm not seminole, so I can't speak on behalf of the Seminole Nation. B. That picture of the Hunkpapa Lakota warrior is an accurate description of who they are, they have the right to claim their history. C. As for the Sioux logo (drawn by a Chippewa, endorsed by the TM Chippewa), the Sioux Nation has asked you to quit using it, plain and simple. http://www.grandforksnd.net/logoissue/Images%204.htm
