I have 2 tickets available for each night of the UND-Minnesota Duluth hockey series on November 16th and 17th. The tickets are at the top of Section 306 at the end of the row. Ticketmaster cost of tickets for this series are $37.50 plus $8.38 Ticketmaster fees, for a total price of $45.88 each ticket. I want to move them fast, so I will sell the tickets for $80 per pair for each night. The tickets are in Grand Forks. I will be out of town that weekend so we will need to make the transfer by the 14th.

If they want to make that claim on their own forum or in conversation, why shouldn't they? They may or may not be deluded, but what is the harm? Why do you have to go and correct them? When did NDSU fans get appointed the "Internet sports forums police"? What would happen on Bville if someone was constantly trying to correct people on there? Another example of NDSU fans thinking they are superior to everyone else. If you want to claim that NDSU would beat the New England Patriots, and make that claim on Bville, go ahead. If you come on another team's forum you are going to get a lot of grief. You have the right to think anything you want, where you make those thoughts public and the reaction you will get are totally different topics.

You responded to my comment, which was complete sarcasm. A Bison poster was trying to convince us that NDSU would absolutely beat SDSU without question, and used that web site as absolute proof because it predicted that 69% of the time NDSU would win. So I reacted with sarcasm when the same web site predicted with 100% certainty that NDSU would bead ISU, even after ISU won the game. Yet you had to respond to my comment. Obviously the sarcasm was over your head. But the correct answer is that you can't actually predict the outcome of college football games. You may be able to predict a majority of the winners, but nothing currently in existence will completely and accurately predict the outcome of games played by humans. When they figure out how to do that they will stop playing the games. I get so tired of you Bison fans coming over here to tell us how superior you think NDSU is to "lowly UND". You really need to get over yourselves. Bville would never allow UND posters to do that. And I don't see very many UND people over there trying it. Why do so many Bison fans have to keep coming over here? You certainly aren't adding to the conversation in a positive manner most of the time. If someone asked me whether UND could beat LSU this year I would say not very likely; or the odds would be very much against it; or they would have 2 chances, slim and none; or I doubt it; or my prediction would be no; or I would probably bet against it; or something like that. I don't say yes or no, because I know that upsets happen. The 1980 US hockey team beat the Russians in the Olympics. That might be a bigger upset than UND beating LSU would be. So I know that I can't actually "know" who is going to win. I can make predictions based on certain factors, but I don't really "know" who is going to win. You can believe that NDSU would beat San Diego State if you like, and they would probably have a decent chance to do that. But if you keep coming over here telling us how great NDSU is and that you "know" that they would destroy UND, you're going to continue to get a lot of push back.

Yes. They do. You don't get to control what people want to think, especially when you're not on your own forum. If you want to control what people think, or deal with people that think like you, go back to Bville.
-
No, you can't actually predict the outcomes of games. If you could they wouldn't play the games. Not even Vegas gets them all right. You want a good way to figure out who's going to win a game. PLAY THE GAME!!! And quit trying to tell us how to think about your beloved hairy beasts.

What?? College football games aren't decided by by web sites? You can't predict the outcomes of football games based on odds and rankings? I'm shocked, shocked I say.

Some of his under-thrown balls may be related to his leg injury. I don't think he has had quite the same zip after the injury as he seemed to have that first game. He might have had some problems with his follow-through, which could make him throw short. But I think he's got a pretty good arm.

POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
82SiouxGuy replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Most of them aren't in bed. They just aren't going to pay attention to west coast football. If they are football fans living on the east coast they have had their fill from their own time zone plus whatever teams that they may be fans of in BCS football. It has nothing to do with being in a different time zone. It may have something to do with being 3,000 miles away. But time zones are not a major factor. Just because you keep repeating yourself doesn't make it true. That kind of thing may work on Bville, but not here. -
POLL: Should UND-NDSU Resume the Football Series?
82SiouxGuy replied to ShilohSioux's topic in Football
Most of the east coast isn't paying attention to west coast FCS football, especially a team that is almost a newcomer to FCS. I'm pretty sure that Eastern Washington is in the same time zone as Cal Poly. They are better known because they won a title, Cal Poly is unknown. The time zone isn't affecting the rankings. The east coast is just too focused on the east coast to notice a new team that should be ranked higher. -
I don't think they should readjust their expectations long term. I just think that they should be realistic about getting there. NDSU is a tough comparison because they had a really good transition. If compared to most schools making the jump to DI, I would guess that UND did better than average. They arrived in the Big Sky competitive with most of the top teams, other than the Eastern Washington game that just went sideways. There is plenty of work to do, but I expect UND to make the playoffs one of the next couple of years. Hopefully they can figure out the defensive issues and be in the playoffs next year. I also expect UND to compete for football titles most years in the Big Sky and I expect them to compete for National titles just like the top teams in conferences like the Big Sky, the MVFC and the CAA. They just have to figure out the last couple of steps to get there.

In reputation, beating Minnesota might be a big deal. Especially to casual fans who don't have a clue about actual competition and only look at labels like BCS and FCS. In actual competition, it's obvious that FCS teams beating Minnesota isn't nearly as big a deal. For UND, beating Minnesota would be great because of the history in hockey. But the magical label of beating FBS schools that you and so many other NDSU fans seem to drool over isn't as big a deal as you think it is. Beating FBS teams, especially weak FBS teams, is like gravy on a turkey dinner. It can add a lot of flavor, but it has very little real substance. Other than some bragging rights, a victory over an FBS team doesn't count any more than a victory over Drake or any other non-scholarship DI school.

It's the first year out of transition and the first year in the conference. Winning a league title this year was a pretty lofty goal and probably not realistic. NDSU didn't make the playoffs until the 3rd year in the MVFC and didn't win the conference title until the 4th year, and they supposedly had the best transition ever in the history of transitions. Being in the middle of the conference isn't the goal, and not where they should want to be long term. But it isn't an unexpected result for a team new to a conference and in the first year as a full member of Division I. UND needs to continue recruiting better players and improving the team. It looks like they probably have one more step to take to compete as one of the top teams in FCS. Then they have to keep doing it on a regular basis.

Most students aren't walking to the games. Most have cars or have access to cars or rides. Also, as has been repeated multiple times, there is a shuttle from campus so they don't have to walk if they don't want to walk. Actually, I would guess that a majority of students live off campus so that removes the excuse for a large group of students. Distance to REA versus distance to the Alerus Center depends on what part of campus you live. For students living on the west end of student housing or in all of those apartments between 42nd and the interstate it is probably pretty close or possibly closer to the Alerus Center. But most of them aren't walking anyway, so that isn't a big deal. If they want to go they can get there without a problem.
-
Lots of trade shows and conventions, plus all of the other meetings and events. Last winter and spring the arena was booked every weekend from late January until early June except 2 or 3. The Alerus Center makes good money on UND football, but a lot of other things happen there that you don't have any clue about.

That's interesting, I thought that they had put in replay throughout Division I. Thanks for the correction. But it doesn't change the fact that it would be very hard to do replay in football with only 3 or 4 cameras. Since you are definitely more of an expert on television production, do you believe it's possible to set up a replay system with so few cameras at this level of football?
-
What NDSU fans don't seem to realize is that yes, the label of FBS may matter to recruits and to television networks, but it doesn't necessarily mean anything on the field. The better teams in the lower division FBS are normally better than the worst BCS teams (the Central Michigan team that NDSU beat was probably better than the Minnesota teams that NDSU beat). The better teams in FCS are normally better than the worst FBS teams (NDSU better than Colorado State), and often are better than the worst BCS teams (NDSU beating Minnesota). Labels like FBS and BCS don't actually mean anything on the playing field. What does mean something is playing at home, and teams used to playing in front of 5,000 people playing in front of 50,000 people. Those are factors that can make a difference. The FBS label doesn't mean anything on its own. You compare recruiting to Central Michigan versus recruiting to Indiana. It would be interesting to compare bowl game results of upper level non-BCS schools versus mid-level BCS schools. That doesn't even take into account the lower level BCS. My guess is that the non-BCS schools have a decent record against the BCS schools.
-
That is quite profound. You don't see UND beating an FBS team, until they beat an FBS team. Hard to argue with that logic.
-
You're right, that was probably the best actual FBS football team that NDSU beat. Central Michigan was much better than either of the Minnesota teams that NDSU beat, which proves that you can't tell the quality of a team by a conference or classification level. Which is why bragging about FBS wins is just silly. Brag about beating quality teams, not about beating terrible teams from a higher level.
-
They hoped to have her back in time for Minnesota, which I believe is this coming weekend.
-
I believe that the playoff factor will play into that. At the FBS level they didn't have to worry about the same level playing field to qualify for playoffs. I look at it like Division I hockey. I'm pretty sure that they didn't allow replays in DI hockey until they could have them for all games. I could be wrong on that. But even so, they aren't going to have replays in FCS football when they only have 3 or 4 cameras showing the entire field. You just can't get a good angle on enough plays to make it fair. The Big Ten games were all being shown by large enough companies to put at least 6 or 7 cameras on the field.
-
UND is in their first year out of transition so they haven't played that many FBS teams. They have played games against some pretty good FBS teams in Texas Tech and San Diego State (notice what SDSU did to Colorado State this year). And UND hasn't had top quality FCS football teams yet. UND will beat FBS teams in the future. I'm not concerned about it and I'm not going to orgasm when it happens like so many NDSU fans do. I also don't plan to set up another column in the record books for FBS wins.

Every school in the BSC is set up to broadcast games on Big Sky TV. Some of them have very basic set ups, like what we saw from Cal Poly. But a few TV cameras, a monitor in the press box and a ref to oversee it isn't all that is needed. Good quality cameras are expensive. You need more than a few cameras to get good coverage. You need people that know how to use the cameras, and the rest of the equipment. It isn't nearly as simple or as cheap as you seem to think. Even the NFL doesn't always have good replay angles when they have anywhere from 10 to 15 or more cameras covering a game. And it isn't just a conference thing, all of FCS has the same rules. The BSC isn't going to have replay until the FCS is ready to put replay in all FCS games.

You guys treat FBS like it's a magical class and automatically better than everyone else. It's kind of like when you act like FCS is automatically better than Division II or NAIA. There are good teams and bad teams in all classes. The better teams in FCS should be able to beat the lower level FBS teams, especially from conferences like the WAC or other lower level FBS conferences. Just like when NDSU beat Montana and when UND beat UNI while the North Dakota schools were still in Division II. NDSU is among the better teams in FCS, and most of the games they have played have been against the lower level FBS teams. Good for NDSU. Get back to us when you have a win against a good FBS school, like Appy State did against Michigan. That will impress people. Otherwise, I'm not going to be impressed by your win against Colorado State this year, or wins against Minnesota. And I really don't care what your record is against FBS schools, not a lot of record books show that as a regular stat.
