No football playoffs for 5 years during the transition. Division I basketball would be part of March Madness, no home games because they play at tournament sites. Not sure if it would affect the NIT for the men now that it is owned by the NCAA. Shouldn't affect the womens NIT. I have no idea how it would affect swimming and diving. It would affect some of the less popular sports like soccer, but again not for 5 years because UND isn't eligible for the playoffs through the transition.

People were going up to have their picture taken with the Nickel when the stage area wasn't being used.

Thanks! And thanks again for the picture! Let's hope the boys follow in their footsteps this year.

Sorry, I'm not prepared to totally believe your guy without a great deal of research. He may be right (which would make many others wrong). Or he may be interpreting facts and situations in a different way. I read several books on the topic when I was younger and all point to some form of organization that was used to police the mob. They didn't call themselves Murder, Inc., that was a media nametag. And they didn't just sit around waiting for assignments. They were also involved in other illegal activities from gambling to prostitution to rum running, etc. Some even had cover jobs with "legit" companies. But I have a hard time just dismissing the entire history of testimony and convictions from the late 30s and early 40s. It seems pretty obvious that several people were involved in multiple killings over that period. This site contains some reputed FBI files on the subject. Ben "Bugsy" Siegel and Meyer Lansky were friends, as were Lansky and Salvatore Lucania who was better known as Charlie "Lucky" Luciano. Several other sources talk about murder for hire being part of the Seigel-Lansky organization for many years before the start of Murder Inc. Seigel was kind of a loose cannon, which is probably at least part of why he ended up on the West Coast. When Seigel was trying to open the Mob's first casino resort in Las Vegas, the Flamingo, it was his friend Meyer Lansky that held off unhappy "investors" for quite a while. They weren't happy that he was so far over budget and that the casino did not make a lot of money for them right away (it actually lost money for a couple of months). Seigel was killed a few months later.

Would you prefer Encyclopedia Britannica as a source. Or how about this source. Or maybe this one. Or one more. Murder Inc was as much a myth as the Cosa Nostra themselves. Wikipedia is not always reliable, but this time they were pretty accurate. And they were the most convenient.

Here is the original Murder Inc. which would fit in well with a previous nickname idea.

I have to work again on Saturday so I have 4 tickets available for the game against Bemidji. They are at the top of Section 306, the end that the Sioux shoot twice. Asking $20 each or best offer. The tickets are in Grand Forks so we can make arrangements for pickup or delivery. Would prefer to sell all together but could split them up if that is what you need.

She was also one of the winners of the Young Alumni Award for 2007. It was presented this past fall.

You mean this Idaho State? The game against North Dakota gets a sub headline and most of a paragraph.

According to the roster that would be 4 inches taller than Weston and 5 inches taller than Ryan Dressler. It would be 1 inch taller and 5 pounds lighter than Ryan Chappell.

These are still available. $20 or best offer per ticket. Last chance to get tickets for the games, they are sold out at the box office. -
I have to work this weekend so I have a pair of tickets available for the games against Denver. They are at the top of Section 306, the end the Sioux shoot twice. Asking $20 each and will sell for 1 night or both. Tickets are in Grand Forks and a friend of mine can deliver them to the REA.

They probably encouraged you to run with scissors too.

That may depend on career goals and the situation at individual schools. Most schools would prefer to hire an AD with experience as an AD if possible. Being an Associate AD may not be enough to get the job if they are competing against someone with experience running the whole show. That's why a lot of people start at a lower level and work their way up, just like coaching. Another factor may be personal preference. I've lived on the West Coast and in the Midwest. If I had a choice I would choose the Midwest (which I did).

A couple of more names are added to the list of applicants, including the AD from Northern Colorado.

None of the offenses in the WCHA are firing on all cylinders. Colorado College currently leads the league in scoring with an average of 3.3 goals per game. UND is second at 3.14. Denver and St. Cloud are next, tied at 2.94. Wisconsin rounds out the top 5 at 2.45 with the rest of the teams somewhere between 2.1 and 2.35. In total goals, UND leads with 69 and CC is next at 66. UND has played 2 more league games than CC. Before this weekend UND and CC were tied in scoring. The point is that scoring is hard to come by for all teams. There are probably a lot of reasons for this. Among them are good goaltenders, the early loss of so many talented forwards to the pros, the clutching and grabbing that the officials allow in the league, and much better video scouting available to all teams. I'm sure that people can come up with many others.

Also being discussed in the thread about Hakstol issuing an apology on pages 6 and 7.

This is a UND suspension. The WCHA hasn't gotten around to doing anything yet. I doubt that the game officials will get anything close to that, if they are publicly reprimanded at all.
-
According to the GF Herald story, the suspension is by UND. The WCHA hasn't done anything yet.

For those that haven't looked that far ahead but are interested, March 23rd is also Easter Sunday. That may affect some people's plans. I would show up to watch, but if I make it to the Final 5 I will have to drive home that morning for a family gathering. Unfortunately, my playing days are far behind me.

I agree with GeauxSioux, Elbert, Smith and Kelley.

Still have the tickets available. I would hate to have them go to waste. Make me a reasonable offer and they are yours. Send me a PM if you are interested.
