It's gonna come down to Jeff Glas breaking the NCAA DII field goal's record for a win.

Don't know what the problem is but I keep getting an error message when trying to log on to your web site.

No one with any integrity is going to buy this. The 'cheese eating' part of the 'message' rings familiar. Sounds a lot like something that was posted in the bogus blog that was taken off the intenet a couple of weeks ago. I hope the creator of this poor taste T-shirt is not a member of the SiouxSports community.

Heck just tell a fan who you are, and you won't have to buy a drink all night.

Yeah, they were a little old to be students and too cool to be faculty. Nice guys. I'm gonna look for them at next years Final Five; got my tickets and my room. Oh and by the by, I was cheering for the Dogs in 2004. Didn't know any of their names so just kept yelling Go Dog Go, etc. My kid said I sounded like that guy on American Idol.

Phew! Close one! Look forward to your continued posts.

That's a long cold walk and the lighting isn't the best from the Hilton to the Ralph. Don't walk!!

I met some really nice Badger fans at the final five. We were in line for food at a kiosk and I started to tease them. They took it really well. Their jerseys had the name "those guys" or something similar. They have been to all the final five games and people started referring to them as "those guys". Hockey, sports, would be no fun without great rivalries. All teams have jerks in their fan base. Unfortunately, they stand out more than the 'real' fans. Having said that, I will cheer for the Badgers before I would cheer for the Gophers (and I will cheer for the Pack before I will cheer for the Vikes). It wouldn't be a good hockey season if the Sioux didn't play either team.

Please help me out here, I'm old, I was young then and probably snockered, hence the poor memory. It was in the '80s, a play off game at the old Ralph. The Sioux were ahead by 2 (3?) with seconds left in the third period. The Sioux lost the game to the Badgers. AAArrrgh!!!!

I've not been on as regularly as usual this past week, so forgive me if I missed it. But has UND filed it's appeal yet?

Paukovich was quoted as saying his coaches were ok with him getting in a fight with Sioux players on Friday but not Saturday. No DU coach was quoted disputing Punk's statements. Hmmm, classless, gutless, etc. me thinks.

...."hang around the fort Indian" with a "plantation negro mentality".

I am so sick about hearing that the only real fans are the students. I stand, I yell, I cheer, I insult the refs, and there are plenty of people around me who do the same. When the score was tied at 2-2 we were all standing. Where are you looking!? I'm in section 113. Don't tell me that the arena would be dead without the students. That's BS! Granted they're louder and more visible because they're together, they are not the only ones cheering. My voice is hoarse until Wednesday after a weekend of Hockey and Football. While I admit that a lot of people don't seem to get into the game as much as others, the students are NOT the only ones cheering, jumping up and down, and really getting into the game. I don't leave my seat until JPar is off the ice and if you look around alot of season ticket holders don't leave until then either. Ok, I'm done.

puck swami, you post a great thesis. The hit will never be forgotten nor forgiven by us who saw it. I have seen the tape over and over again and see no room for doubt. The hit was deliberate and meant to injure. As a woman, I am offended by anyone attempting to defend a convicted sex offender. But that is not why, I dislike Paukovitch to the core. It was the illegal, deliberate check from behind made after the puck was called dead by someone who knew the play would stop as soon as a Sioux player touched the puck. Big hits, checks, injuries are part of the game. What happened to Robbie was not part of hockey. The injury happened during the course of the game, I don't know if anyone could sue anyone. BUT, a public apology such as, "Robbie, I am deeply sorry that you were injured." was absolutely called for. I remember reading quotes from Gwoz that infuriated me at the time. Accountability is part of a CLASS act which was lacking from the Denver coach and player. If Denver was so worried about a law suit that they couldn't apologise then they had to know what he did was wrong. Innocent people don't worry about law suits. I respect the talent the Denver team has on the ice. I don't respect the coach for his actions then and actions now. Given the situation, he should have told Paukovitch to keep his mouth shut and to keep his Saturday's cocky action's under control but instead chose to give him rein. Paukovitch's quotes clearly show he feels he is the victim in the situation; NO ACCOUNTABILITY. Making statements like his were very juvenile and meant to pi$$ people off. Where was the coach? I believe that without good rivalries sports would be too dull to watch. We have a rivalry which at this point in time feels more like a meeting between a group of thugs (Pioneers) and a great hockey team (Fighting Sioux). That will change with time. But this is not that time. Thanks for being a fan to your team. I'm a fan of mine.

I don't know what you interpreted from my post. To put it more succinctly, Saturday the play was close. Both teams played the game, not the man/rivalry. Punkobitch played a minor role in Friday's game because he is a minor player. Saturday, Denver out played us. We were losing and our immaturity and inexperience resulted in increased frustrations and the game ended up as it did. IMHO Punkobitch was allowed to play on those frustrations by his coach. As the team matures and gains more experience this should not happen again.

I have to disagree with some of what's been said. I think that Saturday happened because we were losing, not because of the Punkobitch history. We were winning on Friday and everyone kept their cool. No one, including Prpich, was going to jeopardize the win. The difference was that Denver played smart on Friday as well. The game was close and they played with the expectation that they could still turn things around and win. They couldn't do that if they started getting chippy and the reins were loosend on Punkobitch. On Friday he spent, what, four minutes on the ice? He is obviously NOT a key player. Saturday, we were losing and we obviously weren't playing well enough to come back and win. IMHO, their coach put Punkobitch on the ice to do exactly what he did. Get under the Sioux players skin. The other Denver guys were following suit. Our players reacted in a way that I don't believe they would have had we had the chance to win. They didn't in Columbus when the wounds were fresh and the players were Robbie's friends. There was too much at stake. By the time we get to Denver, there's going to be a lot more experience and maturity under the belts of our guys. Prpich, Stafford, Smaby, Porter and Fabian are also going to be more experienced in their team leader roles. I believe that we have the talent to go into Denver's house and sweep. I also believe that if they don't know it now, our guys will know it by they as well. I, for one, don't believe we're going to turn our next meeting into the St. Valentine's Day massacre. There will be too much at stake. That having been said, Punkobitch is a chicken $#it. Anyone on our team could take him, even Duncan. Hit 'em low, he'll fall hard, get into the fetal position and hope his teammates will come to his rescue.

Paying attention to Gopher fans is similar to looking at the bloody gore of a catastrophic accident. You know you shouldn't look because it will likely make you sick but you just can't not look.

Go Scarlet Knights!!!

One good thing about it's happening here, is that we have some pretty good orthopedic surgeons in Grand Forks. Quick intervention will hopefully assure his returning to the ice next year.

I was hoping Gwozdecky quote in the paper was accurate. I feel bad for the kid.

It started early in the game, he would make comment to the players on the bench as he was going into his bench, he leaned out of the bench and made comments to the other bench, he would point to the score board and make little celebratory movements with his hands and head, once he made a punching motion with his gloves in a fist. You know as I write this it doesn't seen like a big deal but it bugged the he!! out of me. Probably because it was Punkobitch.
