I know that hindsight is always 20/20 but I wonder. In the moment, I doubt if I would have had the presence of mind to pull out my gun (if I had one) when the murderer first entered a classroom and started shooting. If a student in one of the two classrooms that the murderer tried to reenter had a gun...........

The only time such language is not protected is in the instance such as you discribe is when it can cause harm, i.e. yelling fire in a crowded theater. That will get you jailed. The use of the N word or the C word may cause you to be disciplined or fired by your employer, school, etc. but will not get you jailed. You still can use the words if your so inclined.

In Arizona you have to take an eight hour class before getting a licenses to carry concealed and is reciprocated or honored (I don't know the difference) in 20 states. In Arizona you can take a three hour class and get a Utah license to carry concealed and is reciprocated or honored in 26 states. But even though it's given and taken in Arizona, Arizona residents can't carry concealed with this Utah license but a non-resident can. I would like to take the Arizona 8 hour class but I like the extra six states offered with the Utah license. They're both $119. I'm looking at getting a .357 that shoots 38's. There's less noise with the 38 bullets so if you're in a room and shoot an intruder your hearing is less affected and you can listen for a second intruder, etc. Yes, I've been doing a lot of research lately and getting a lot of advice from fellow workers.

The money that I earmarked for UND athletics, band, scholarships, etc., minus zero, went to where I donate it every year. The money that went to the lawsuit fund was 'extra' money that was not intended for any charitable donation except perhaps for another game worn jersey or two, a trip to Las Vegas, paying off another one of my kid's whatever, adding to my retirement fund..... So I guess, you're right. The money donated to 'the law suit have been spent other places'.

I have to add The ER nurse I mentioned in my previous post was in Phoenix having dinner with his wife. They were parked in an area where they could only back out of their parking space. He and his wife were ready to enter their vehicle when a vehicle stopped behind their's effectively blocking them in. Five young men were in the car, two got out of the opposite side from the Nurse's car. The Nurse's wife got in their car and the Nurse got into his car but did not shut the door. He pulled his gun and made it known to the guys. They got into their vehicle and drove off. Yep, there could have been a shoot out, or Bob and his wife could have had their car stolen/possessions stolen, or killed, or raped, or ? But what happened was that the cowards drove off. As I have stated, I have never wanted a gun before but I'm seriously considering it. I live alone, travel alone. If you knew me, this is a very out of ordinary thing for me to even consider. Gun laws do not keep guns out of the hands of anyone that wants one. To my friends and family, the times they are a changing me!!!

I know. My point, if I even have one, is how can anyone prepare for such mind boggling, senseless violence against innocents!?! I was wrong when I posted that no one picked up on any clues/cues from this murderer. What more could have been done without violating the maniacs freedoms? We had a discussion in the ER this morning. One of the nurses, gun owner licensed to carry a concealed weapon, said if even one other person had been carrying, the death count would have been lower. I have never wanted to own a gun (but don't deny anyone else the right to) but I am seriously considering buying a gun and applying for a license to carry a concealed weapon. How sad is that?!?

Speak your mind, voice your opinion on the name and logo and the lawsuit. But don't tell me or any other donor how or where to spend our money. You have no idea how much money I give to the school, to other charities or to the lawsuit fund. The problem I and others have with your posts is you're telling us what we should be doing with our money, that is very presumptuous of you. You will be called on it time and time again if you persist. What we do with our money has nothing to do with free speech. Dictating to me where my money should be donated/spent is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS!!!

I don't know what that lesson would be? Love those close to you because tomorrow a senseless act of violence may take them away from you?? We all are aware of different scenarios that can occur but none of us is likely to think this could be one of them. Here is a young man who obviously was not well and no one picked up on any clues/cues. I don't want to be suspicious, scared or un-trusting. I don't want to live that way. This has really shaken up the world. God bless the survivors, their loved ones and everyone else who is or will be affected by this tragedy.
