I am happy for Parise but I am left wondering what the WCHA was really watching if they didn't notice the games that Toews turned in. I don't care who they picked, he was the NCAA Rookie of the week let alone the WCHA. I guess in their eyes if you have one great move it doesn't matter that you can't play both sides of the puck.

Watching Dataflix

You can never go wrong by shooting the puck but Ziggy looked a little shakey on that one. 1-0 Sioux

I did watch the game and the USA haven't come together as a team, most likely due to the lack of practice time. It would be tough to comment on Blake's play as they all looked more like individuals than linemates and unfortunately they have little time to try and get it together. Italy actually played evenly with Canada for the whole first period in their game and they are made up of mostly minor league Canadians whose parents were Italian. Latvia is also mostly non-NHLers who like the Italians have probably had plenty of time to practice together. I still think not picking Miller as Team USA's goalie was a huge mistake.

Perhaps the Gopher dream for Minnesota hockey players is quickly fading. Tough for every elite hockey player in the state to realize that dream when they watch slots being given to North Dakotans, Canadians, Austrians, and yikes someone from Wisconsin. Better to go where you are wanted, needed, and can get solid development versus being just another cog in a media circus.

I hate to see this happen to any college athlete but if it had to happen why couldn't have been at the end of January.
