For a stupid little bar fight yeah I'd say the media did a hatchet job on him. As for the actual incident there is no victim, just two drunken idiots doing stupid things at 2 AM. Beck is lucky those two guys didn't beat the pulp out of him and he is lucky the guy he knocked out is fine. Nothing ever good can happen at the time of night. Even in his drunken state I don't think Beck wanted to knock the guy out but like another poster said the guy wanted a fight and he got one.

Yeah I'm not sure why Travis needs to be punished because CB and GT screwed up the petition thing. I do think Bohl needs to send a message to Travis because this is the second time he has got himself into this kind of situation but you can make that point without having to suspend him. If anyone needs to be taught a lesson it is the media, who decided to hang this kid before the facts came out.
-
He should be back on team immediately, give him some kind of internal punishment. Story was completely overblown by the media jackals.
-
It was a quarter of a pretty big game, so Bohl probably got his point across. I don't want to get into the petition thing, obviously GT and Bohl screwed up in handling it.

Well one of our starting players did sit for a quarter because he wasn't wearing proper attire to a team function so you are totally right on with that assessment.

What conference will the other Dakotas be in 2015?
FargoBison replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
RPI matters a lot....NDSU didn't have have enough wins vs schools with top 100/top 50 RPIs. Honestly from an RPI perspective the Summit and Big Sky are the same...neither conference provides enough opportunities to get quality wins that a team needs for an at-large NCAA tournament or NIT spot. A school like NDSU or UND would have to earn that almost entirely in non-conference play. -

The Big Sky is very comparable to the MVFC as a far as exciting match ups are concerned. A lot of Bison fans bash it but yet they were excited to play MSU and can't wait to play Montana. UCD and Cal Poly were also fun match ups back when we were in the Great West and of course there is UND. -

When you have people spending large amounts of money for season tickets/tailgating you better be a in a football conference that has a multiple teams fans want to see you play against. The conference that was mentioned had one school Bison fans even value playing against. I don't think UND fans realize just how much different NDSU football has become since the DII days. Also Gene Taylor can barely fill our schedule every year with 8 conference games, now you suggest going down to five. There was years when we didn't have our schedule filled until almost June when we were in the Great West. NDSU isn't going to risk the good thing they have going with football, the only acceptable move from the MVFC is to the Big Sky or an FBS conference. Also ever since basically right now NDSU's Olympic sports were in a perfectly respectable conference. Maybe the league should have worked at bit harder trying to keep the other schools not in the Dakota's happy but Douple went all in and now we are paying for it. I view Douple as being responsible for some of the league's issues. He should have been fired after the UND kerfuffle. -

It is a real football conference, which just so happens to be NDSU's marquee sport. UND's marquee sport is in a similar situation. Of course college hockey is a bit different but the point remains the same. NDSU isn't going move its marquee sport into anything but another power conference. -

NDSU would be better off in the Big Sky than to be a part of that mess. The MVFC is a premier FCS conference and as long as we are in the FCS we won't settle for anything less. -

They pretty much blocked NDSU, on multiple occasions. NDSU had a lot of support from Montana State but their president could never get a consensus vote. -

Zooropa has completely lost it, but like I said a few days ago SDSU fans are way more attached the the Summit League than NDSU fans are attached to the league. That tournament in SF is a huge deal for them. What they fail to realize is nobody else really loves it like they do. Things have changed with Big Sky, the Montana schools realized the Big Sky had become a conference of schools that weren't really like them so they used the WAC as a power play to get what they wanted.. They didn't let Sac State and PSU pull the same stunt they pulled with NDSU and SDSU. . -

Unless they are also SDSU supporters. They love the guy and everything about the SL. -

Well I guess we know how lakes feels...if NDSU actually joins the Big Sky his meltdown will be epic. -
That precious farmland will only flood a handful of times every 100 years with a diversion. That is a lot better than the city of Fargo getting devastated by just one flood because a temporary levee failed or wasn't high enough. The city can only do so much to protect itself and it has been trying to do as much as possible ever since 1997.

The SD schools are infatuated with Summit because of the tournament being in SF. That does nothing for any other school in the league but it is a big deal for them because they have been trying to build up their presence in Sioux Falls ever since going DI. The Summit has way more value to them than any other conference. I do think the league has a plan in place so it won't lose its autobid but the conference cannot lose another school besides Oakland. -

The rule Siouxvolley is talking is not a set in firm thing, if you are showing progress you can get more leeway. I do disagree with some of what has been said at Bisonville. I'm not very satisfied with the Summit right now if Oakland does indeed leave, if it happens the league is in no way better than the Big Sky which some fans seem to be convinced of over there. -
Actually a foot lower than 2009, the record is from 1997(19.42)....amazing what a diversion can do.

The only power conference without a GoR is the SEC. There is still a chance that Cincy, UConn or BYU gets scooped up by a power conference I guess but the massive realignment that some predicted isn't going to happen.

Every member of the ACC signed a Grant of Rights today. Realignment just came to a screeching halt at the upper level of DI.... http://www.theacc.co.../042213aaa.html

Yeah I think it played a role as well, ORU was used to hosting it and now it seems like it will never leave SF. Plus SDSU upset them one year and that probably even left more of a sour taste in their mouth. I do agree, the Big 10 has it right. Rotating between the east and west in the Big 10 will keep everyone happier. The Summit should do the same thing. I'm not really impressed by Douple either to tell you the truth.
-
I don't know what is going on with Summit, not sure why UND didn't even get an invite to be a baseball affiliate. I do think it was a big mistake to put the basketball tournament at SF for an extended period of time. It should rotate at least due to the league geography. I am starting to see the wisdom in playing at campus sites.
-
Compete and total BS. Travel and geography is why NDSU didn't get into the Big Sky. A movement that was spearhead by everyone's favorite Big Sky member Sac State. Montana State tried to get NDSU in but failed to I believe at least twice.
-
There was no incentives given by NDSU to any conference. Some MVFC schools didn't want NDSU in the conference because they didn't want to add another strong program. Travel became an issue when USD was invited and some schools were given some kind of guarantee of only making one Dakota trip per year.
