  1. Well, based on everything I have read, there is a good chance that an announcement will be made during the tournament this weekend.
  2. Ah another fellow Walsh alum. W.A.L.S.H.: Where All Ladies Seek Happiness
  3. I think the main thing is they generally don't hire inept coaches, and when they do, they don't keep them around for extended periods. Also, the climate in Fargo is less of a factor because it is closer to the equator........
  4. I don't follow the recruiting trail or high school ball closely at all, so if people are expecting the addition of Crandall and Seales to take this team from worst to first, they must be pretty outstanding. But it also makes me wonder if they are so outstanding, why they would choose a program that hasn't accomplished much of anything in well over a decade and when it is at its best it is playing .500 ball?
  5. What is the financial cost of perpetual underachievement?
  6. Wonder what Wayne Tinkle or Randy Rahe could have done with Huff & Co.
  7. I am very surprised.
  8. Not a huge difference between .500 and one game under .500 in my eyes. Also, Mussman did actually have some decent wins under his belt against ranked opponents Cal Poly, SUU, and USD. Jones' most impressive win has been against NDSU.
  9. Winter set in and the air temperature dropped?
  10. It is kind of interesting to look at how attendance for basketball is trending by looking at the rivalry games from a couple of our border states. Montana v. Montana St. (Missoula games only) 2010-11: 7,312 2011-12: 7,003 2012-13: 6,022 2013-14: 4,606 2014-15: 4,915 South Dakota v. South Dakota St. (Brookings games only) 2011-12: 6,216 2012-13: 6,130 2013-14: 5,509 2014-15: 5,354 It is hard to take much from the numbers for the UND-NDSU game, because interestingly each of the 5 games in the DI era has been played in a different venue. But if you look at only the 3 games played in Fargo....... North Dakota v. North Dakota St. (Fargo games only) 2010-11: 10,709 2012-13: 5,168 2014-15: 4,189 Based on the way attendance is going throughout the enitre region, perhaps UND leaders actually had great foresight to build the Sioux Center with only 3,300 seats. Looking at these numbers, I'm not so sure any opponent would bring 5,000+ fans to a game that were played REA next season as we've been discussing in another thread.
  11. I can't even find a score or anything about UND's last game of the year yesterday on the Herald's website. If that doesn't say "nobody cares anymore", I don't know what does.
  12. Is Strand injured? She did not play the last 3 games.
  13. Take the personal stuff to the PM center please.
  14. For the 4th time in 8 seasons, the women's attendance was higher than the men's this season. I don't mean this as a slight in any way against the women's program, they are obviously very deserving of the support they get, but this really shouldn't be the case. Putting a consistent winner on the floor on the men's side would do wonders for attendance. UND is the only school in the Big Sky where the women outdrew the men. The men fell to 4th place in attendence this year, surpassed by Eastern Washington. Women were second only to Montana.
  15. I'm guessing the league is breathing a huge sigh of relief that Montana gets to host rather than Sac St. in the wellness center. I'd say the Griz are the favorites, they have been playing some good basketball of late, having won 7 of their last 8 games. Sac St. has been struggling a bit to end the season. EWU continues to be good. I think NAU could be a dark horse type of team. They have really finished the season strong. No. 2 Eastern Washington (22-8) vs. No. 7 Idaho (13-16) No. 3 Sacramento State (19-10) vs. No. 6 Portland State (15-13) No. 4 Northern Arizona (18-13) vs. No. 5 Northern Colorado (15-14) No. 1 Montana (18-11) vs. No. 8 Weber State (13-16)
  16. That says an awful lot right there. Quite disheartening......

  18. With the season ending loss to Northern Colorado, Jones' all time record against the 5 former NCC schools that are now DI stands at 11-31. With 3 full seasons of Big Sky play in the books, UND is 6-21 against conference teams that finished a season with winning records. 6-11 over the first two years when we finished in 3rd and 2nd place respectively. Jones is 2-12 all time against Big Sky "elite" Weber St. (0-7) and Montana (2-5).
  19. Wasn't able to follow the game tonight, but wow what another heartbreaker. Based on the thread and the tweets sounds like they did a heck of a job getting back into it, and down two starters besides. But it sounds a lot like the game in Sacramento, no reason to be down that much in the first place. What is the deal with Lenny only playing 5 minutes when we are shorthanded to start with?
  20. They are definately backing their way into the playoffs.
  21. I would like to see permanent seating at the North end of the Betty, creating a horseshoe, and then double the size of the portable risers on the south end. This should increase capacity to around 4,000 and you would only lose one practice court and maintain the functionality of the south overhead doors.
  22. If the Betty is not lavish enough for basketball, the Alerus certainly won't cut it...........
  23. Well that's a bit of a stretch.
  24. In a previous discussion about basketball in REA, DakotaDan once posted a rendering he made (which I cannot find right now) that placed the basketball court right up against either the North or South permanent seats in REA. The scoreboard would not be centered over the basketball court, but it basically created a horseshoe around the court using the REA's permanent seating on 3 sides, with portable bleachers on the open end. If basketball were played in the Ralph on a semi regular basis, I think a format like this would be the way to go. If you had a big curtain to hang behind the portable bleachers, you'd probably reduce capacity to around 8,000 or so creating a more intimate feel, and placing fans closer to the action. Still, I am of the opinion that some minor upgrades to the Betty would be far more ideal, and realistic.
  25. As was mentioned before, they did this 2004-05. They played 6 games in the REA, and they averaged close to 4,000 per game. Obviously after evaluating the situation over the course of the season, REA/UND decided it was a model not worth pursuing. What you are suggesting has already been done. Try to keep up............
