  1. Would Greg Lotysz (sp?), have any interest in becoming more than a volunteer coach?
  2. vs. UND Game Notes Iowa St. Game Notes UND Audio & Video ISU Video UND is 10-3, and have won 10 consecutive games. ISU is 9-5, they currently have an RPI of 126. Fightingsioux.com will have the video webcast on their site, as well.
  3. I'm not really sure, especially considering NDSU's game last year from Iowa St. was televised on WDAY. Perhaps it has something to do with it being on ESPN Full Court?
  4. No local TV coverage for the basketball game against Iowa St. this weekend.
  5. Brian Jones was just on the Dan Hammer show. He mentioned that UND will be playing in a tournement at Drake next year. They usually host a tournament in early December that has often included several independents such as NDSU, Chicago St., and UTPA recently. He also mentioned he's been visiting with Ben Jacobsen at UNI about getting a home-and-home going. He was asked if Iowa St. would be making a return trip to GF in the future but said that McDermott hasn't been to keen on that. I had hoped that this weekend's game was maybe the first part of 2-for-1 contract.
  6. It looks like a few of the K-State faithful have somewhat mixed feelings on the job that Tim Tibesar is doing as DC down there.
  7. Thanks. It seems backwards to me that Idalski makes more than the basketball coaches, specifically Roebuck who's been here forever, produced championships and exposure, and generates revenue.
  8. Any idea what the salaries are for Gene Roebuck and Brian Jones? I thought I read somewhere when Brian Idalski was hired for women's hockey that his salary was going to be ~$85,000. Doesn't seem like the huge discrepency that one would think between the football coach and the women's hockey coach. I would certainly hope that the basketball coaches (Roebuck at the very least) would be compensated more than the women's hockey coach. If anyone should have a heavily incentive-laden contract, it should be Idalski.
  9. Right. They don't have the Texas A&M-Kingsville game, although they've had the other 8 games posted on that site for quite some time. They basically keep updating it as scheduled games get posted over on AGS.
  10. From everything I've read on the web, that game will be at Southeastern Louisiana. Note the color bars on that site. There are no confirmed dates or locations, just the games themselves.
  11. Pat Sweeney said during the Hockey game last night that he can't make a formal announcement yet, but the FSSN is currently negotiating to get next Saturday's game against Iowa St. on TV.
  12. 453 in attendance at the Target Center.
  13. They just said on KNOX that UND will have a press conference at 11:00 regarding the coaching situation.
  14. If Ralston is in charge of internal affairs, and Brekke external affairs, who makes the next hire? In theory, we could end up with the best of both worlds. One head coach from within with local ties, and an outsider with DI connections. Co-Head Coaches! One of them could be in charge of one of our co-Defensive coordinators, and the other co-defensive coordinator could answer to the other Co-Head Coach. Sorry, step 4 of my recovery program is angry sarcasm.
  15. Yeah, but then Buning would have gotten to make the hire and we would have had to sit through a 20 page thread about how he was going about it all wrong by not using "place of birth" as the main criteria.
  16. They are pretty much useless as far as the employer is concerned. A coach may leave at any time, but cannot be fired without receiving a huge buyout. Dale was under contract until 2010. It would be alot simpler to just pay our coaches an hourly wage.
  17. Tibesar would easily be the best choice of the guys we've mentioned here on day 1 of our informal search committee. Not that it means anything, but Ron Prince is currently #16 on CoachesHotSeat.com. If Tibesar has any inkling that his days of employment at Kansas St. are approaching an end, perhaps that will persuade him to consider this opportunity at UND.
  18. Not that they'd be interested in the job, or that UND would ever consider them, but I've seen the names of USD coach Ed Meierkort, and Sioux Falls head coach Kalen DeBoer thrown out as outsider possibilities on a couple message boards I've been perusing the last few hours.
  19. What impact does Lennon leaving in the middle of recruiting have on the verbal commitments we've received so far?
  20. Maybe we can get Southern Illinois on the schedule.
  21. Tom Dosch? Is this a situation where Lennon may take some of his assistants with him? With no A.D. in place, and being a ways into the off-season, I suspect Mussman has about a 90% chance of becoming the next head coach.
  22. Wow. Just Wow. Bummer. I didn't see that coming at all. What an inopportune time to be searching for a head football coach. Although we would probably have been less surprised if he took the Montana St. job last year, SIU is a way better job. They were in the national semi-finals last season, are expecting to build a new stadium in the near future, and his predecessor at SIU Jerry Kill, was the highest paid coach in the FCS. I expected that coach Lennon would move on some day, but with him turning down Sacramento St. and Montana St., and with the DI move, facility upgrades, and the removal of his superior, I was just not expecting it at this time. I wish Dale the best of luck, but I admit I'm a bit disappointed with his decision at this time.
  23. Yes, with the schedule we've played, it is pretty hard to determine what to expect from this team when the conference season starts, as well as difficult (and pointless) to predict where they'd finish in another leauge whether it be the NSIC, DAC, or Big 12. From what I've seen so far this year, this team has improved as the this season has progressed, and they are playing better basketball than they did last year. It is safe to say that this team came into the season with pretty low expectations from a fan perspective. With that in mind, to me, the first half of the season has pretty much been a success. UND has beaten every single team that they were fully expected to win against going into the game and even the season. They beat Mary in Bismarck (no huge accomplishment, but we lost there last year) and beat a 5-2 Western Oregon team that we lost to last year. So that is an improvement over last year. They were competetive and had a chance to win on the road against Colorado Springs (who is 5-5 and beat DI Southern Utah). They were competetive and had a chance to win on the road against Adams St. (who is 9-2 and has a win against Minnesota St). And those were the first two games of the year, when we finished last season playing some of our worst basketball in years. And I firmly believe that the outcome of the Northern St. game (or at least the point differential) would have easily been alot different had that game not been on the back-end of a brutal week long road trip. The team is winning games that they should and they've been competetive in their losses save for the Northern St. game, who I do think is a very good program. Let's wait a couple weeks and see how the team competes against some conference foes, and even see how they play against Iowa St. before we condemn them to hell. I still think that if they continue to limit their mistakes and execute this new offense efficiently, they can finish in the top half of the NCC.
