  1. Has anyone heard Josh Doyle's name called?
  2. Sioux down 9 with 1:36 left Very disappointing second half
  3. Sioux down 9 with under 4 minutes left
  4. Adams 53 UND 50 10:00 left I wish. No, I'm just a Ronald Reagan fan and a Sioux fan and I just always really liked that picture.
  5. Sioux down 8 with 15:30 left in game 17 turnovers now making some stupid mistakes now
  6. I'm afraid of it. We have size with Koenig and Lenhertz, but neither of those guys are overly athletic.
  7. Halftime Stats Adams 38 UND 35 UND - Shooting 56% - 6-9 on 3 pointers - 1-3 on freethrows - Sioux being outrebounded 16-13 (Adams has 6 offensive rebounds) - 13 turnovers Youmens: 13 points Little: 7 points Koenig: 7 points Hampton from Adams had 18 points in the first half
  8. Swyg says Koenig is starting to assert himself. I was hoping his knees would be in better shape going into this year, but Swyg just said that he doesn't practice on Wednsedays so he can rest up.
  9. Adams forward Reece Hampton is killing us, he has 18 points already. Our lack of an athletic inside man is hurting us. Sioux down 6 with 3 minutes left in first half Lenhertz just got his 3rd foul
  10. Adams 25 UND 26 7 Minutes left in 1st
  11. Adams 22 UND 20 10 minutes left in first half 9 turnovers already for the Sioux Youmens has 11 pts
  12. vs. Fighting Sioux Audio Grizzly Audio UND Game Notes The projected starters for the Sioux are: Joseph Youmens Bledsoe Little Benter? (Where's Koenig?) Adams was the Western division champions of the RMAC last season and finished with a record of 16-14. This is also their season opener, although they've played two exhibition games. They lost by 5 to DI Southern Utah (picked 5th in the Summit poll), and by 13 to DI Northern Arizona (picked 4th in the Big Sky poll). Adams is picked to finich 5th in the West Division of the RMAC Preseason poll.
  13. Josh Morton, Fighting Sioux Club Director, was on Mac-Talk this morning. As of about 9:30 this morning, ticket sales for Saturday's game were approaching 3,000.
  14. My wife is having 3 wisdom teeth pulled on Friday afternoon. We WILL be there.
  15. I understand all the potential negatives of hiring an A.D. before a President is in place, but on the other hand, this a very inopportune time to delay the hiring until a new President takes over in the summer of '08 what with the transition to DI and all. It is not as if it is status quo as it would be if we were not moving up and it would be business as usual as far as scheduling and fund-raising goes. Whatever happened to the idea of an Interim A.D.? I know, Ralston and Brekke are co-acting A.D.'s, but anyone who reads the football forum knows how I feel about that type of situation (see Co-Defensive Coordinator threads ). Is there anybody out there from the UND community that could help steer the Athletic Dept. through this somewhat uneasy time until a replacement is found? I just think of the Nebraska situation and Tom Osborne being named interim A.D. All of the guys off the top of my head of course have other commitments or conflicts that won't allow for it like RT, Bollinger, Blais, Gasparini, etc. If only to give the public a sense of stability and act as a temporary-type figure head, Dave Gunther comes to mind. He's retired, local, popular, and probably has alot of contacts that could be useful right now. Say what you want about Buning, but he gave a face to the Athletic Department to people like me who aren't privy to the daily operations at UND. Until a permanent replacement is found, I think we need someone like that right now.
  16. UND MEN'S BASKETBALL: Sioux point to Joseph
  17. They are looking at non-scholarship football. If they did add football, I don't think the GWFC would consider them or San Diego until they made a commitment to start funding scholarships.
  18. Cohesiveness, athleticism key for Sioux men in 2007-08 Mitchell, Callahan, and Mathison will redshirt this season. The Media Guide is out too.
  19. Yeah, the way this team played last year I'd think they're going to be improved. Other than getting blown out twice in the last week of the season, they were competetive in virtually every other game all year. Most of their losses were by just a handful of points. I have to think that with a year of the new guys playing together and another year playing in Jones' system this team is going to learn to win those close games. We should know a bit more about the team this weekend playing on the road (which was a problem last year) against a couple decent opponents. I expect no worse than a 3rd place finish in the NCC this year.
  20. I liked the DakotaDome this weekend. It is a great football facillity, but I think they'd do well if they built a dedicated basketball/volleball arena. Nice campus, too. Don't know about the support trend. On Saturday, USD had 9,000 in their building while SDSU had 3,000. Brookings is a little closer to Sioux Falls, but USD has Sioux Falls, Sioux City, and Yankton to draw from.
  21. Thanks Slostang! Your guys almost pulled it out against the #1 team in FCS this weekend! I look forward to meeting up with Cal Poly in the future.
  22. Well, maybe you're right. But who does the responsibility of recruiting fall upon? Lennon, Mannasau, Kelling......? Who was responsible for recruiting the players early this decade when UND put out defenses that only allowed 10 to 15 points per game? Was Bubba responsible for recruiting all the players that implemented his defense all those years? Was Lennon responsible for recruiting all the players that implemented his defense all those years that he was Defensive Coordinator? My concern about having "co-defensive coordinators" is that Mannasau (who is apparently responsible for the Front 7) and Kelling (who is apparently responsible for the secondary) are each recruiting players and implementing schemes that may not jive with what the other wants to accomplish on the defensive side of the ball or with the abilities of the players each coach is using in said schemes. My problem is that UND's "vaunted" 3-4 defense was installed over a decade ago by the man who is our current head coach. It was originally designed to stop the run, specifically option/veer offenses. The last two seasons this defense has been torched by the only option/veer offense that it still competes against regularly (UNO), and by USD which likes to throw in some option plays, and then there is GVSU who likes to run the QB as well.
