  1. The soccer team is really struggling this year. They are 3-9, and recently lost to Northern Iowa, Montana, and USD, three struggling programs in their own right. Our program showed so much potential just a few seasons ago when Brock Thompson was named coach, but has fallen off considerably. Just wondering if there are any great soccer minds out there that have an opinion on what this program needs to do to improve.

  3. The most striking thing to me about the various polls released so far this week is the fact the Southern Illinois is ranked behing Northern Iowa in all of them.
  4. In the Northern Arizona Tournament the Sioux will play: Nov. 28 vs. UC-Riverside Nov. 29 vs. Northern Arizona In the Iowa St. Tourney: Dec. 29 vs. Lamar Dec. 30 vs. Niagra or Iowa St.
  5. UND will play Cal Poly next year.
  6. Might be right, but ya never know. We've been getting votes every week of the season. Alot will depend on how we perform against Southern Illinois and through the GWC schedule.
  7. To me, the polls are very important over the next 4 years. With no play-offs to shoot for, my #1 goal for the football team will always be to win the Great West title, and #2 will be to finish the season in the Top 25.

  9. Interesting Box Score from this game.... FIRST DOWNS 27 UND 13 SLU RUSH YARDS 117 UND 82 SLU PASS YARDS 319 UND 269 SLU TOTAL OFFENSE 436 UND 361 SLU TIME OF POSSESSION 34:10 UND 25:50 SLU TURNOVERS 2 UND 0 SLU FINAL SCORE 35 UND 38 SLU Those two turnovers were probably alot more costly than some of the big plays given up by the secondary.
  10. I agree with mksioux. The team showed alot resilience, but IMO we should beat a middle-of-the-pack SLC team. Obviously SLU's athleticism was the decisive factor in this game. They were the better team, and congrats to them on a good win. The secondary has been a problem for several seasons now. I've said all year that we have better players in the defensive backfield than in recent seasons, but we continue to get torched for long pass plays. Unless the pass defense tightens up quickly, these high scoring, nail-biter games will be the theme of the season.

  12. I've only been able to listen intermittently. Is our defense getting any pressure on the QB? Sounds like the rush defense is playing well again, but the secondary continues to give up big plays.

  17. Hey, slulionsfan, what is the proper acronym to refer to your team by: SLU, SELU, or SELA? I've seen all three thrown out?
  18. That's a myth. A game broadcast is a 3 hour commercial for the University. How many people stay home from hockey games because they are all on TV? Not me. Coach Lennon said several times that if he had it his way, every home game would be on TV. Mussman basically said the same thing on the radio two weeks ago. USD is drawing much smaller crowds and have more empty seats on Saturdays, but their administration still sees the value of having casual sports fans having the opportunity to watch their university play. And before anyone jumps on me for wanting the games on TV so that I can stay home and watch, I should point out that I go to all the home games, and I'm going to the USD game this year. In a perfect world the away games would be on TV but I understand the cost that is involved with that. But when the University basically owns a TV station, I don't see the point in not utilizing it to put the home games on TV and deliver the product to a much larger audience than the 10,000 or so who file into the Alerus on the weekend.
