  1. 20 UND 21 UVU 7:48 1ST HALF HUFF HAS 10
  2. Count me in the drop baseball camp...............I love the game. But it makes no sense in this region, especially without conference affiliation. It worked in DII because the NCC opponents were so close by. Doesn't work now IMO..........................
  3. That was alot of fun. NDSU's Bjorkland is pretty good. Hopefully last night was a coming out party for Brekke going the rest of the way. Got alot of quality contributions from reserves when Huff and Webb were held in check. Aaron Anderson is the best guard in the state of North Dakota, not even close. Schuler was clutch on a couple key possessions and down the stretch at the line. He is such an under-rated asset to this team. Only 10 turnovers by the Sioux, and they outrebounded NDSU by 1. Foul shooting continues to be atrocious. Crowd was good, hopefully this sparks some interest in the program, especially among students. Now we need to stay focused and play well this weekend at Utah Valley. This Jeckyl & Hyde stuff of playing so well at home and poorly on the road needs to stop. The team is talented enough to win the majority of its GWC games. They just need to be consistent.
  4. You can have a beer at the Sioux Center too...........
  5. NDSU every other year will obviously inflate the numbers. I'd like to see the program get annual games against SDSU and USD too. Ideally we'd host the South Dakota schools the years that we travel to NDSU and travel to Brookings & Vermillion the years that we host the Bison. One of the most appealing things of the Big Sky to me was the fact that it could potentially guarantee annual games against all of the most intriguing regional teams like Montana, Montana St., NDSU, USD, SDSU............... It seems as if attendance in college basketball is down in general. I'm too lazy to look it up, but when we first made the move I recall examining potential conferences and I seem to remember at the time that the Big Sky was averaging around 3,000 per game. NDSU seems to be doing pretty good averaging around 2,700. SDSU, which plays in a great arena, is a "basketball school", plays in a "basketball state", and has one of their best teams in years, is averaging even less than that.
  6. I was horrified today to find that the Sioux are averaging less than 1,600 per game for men's basketball attendance. I've been told many times on this site that when UND starts winning that attendance will rise. North Dakota nearly won 20 games last season, made the post season, hasn't lost at home this year, and is still getting fewer fans to the games than they did in the 1940's................... I've been told that once we have conference affiliation that attendance will surely rise. Well, the University of South Dakota has conference affiliation and they are averaging less than 1,200 per game. Big Sky teams are averaging 2,300 per game, and that includes the anomaly that is Weber St. which averages 6,500 per game. It is sad to me that when players like Jamal Webb have to answer questions to the media about the upcoming NDSU game that he says "he can tell that the game is big deal to fans because last season in Fargo there were alot of UND students at the game because we don't get many students at UND games".............................................
  7. Anyone with slightly below average intelligence should not sign these petitions. Therefore, I will not............................... I suspect they will get alot of signatures at the NDSU basketball game though..................................
  8. I wonder if there is any chance that Altitude may look to the NCHC for more programming given that Denver and Colorado College are in their coverage area....................
  9. My guess is that Gene Taylor is getting a cut of the parking revenue............... It is the only way that that tool would have allowed Saul Phillips to schedule this game.........................
  10. I'm a big fan of capitalism, I just think that it sucks that I'll be able to park for free, closer to the doors of the Sioux Center, for the next home game.................. This is all NDSU's fault...................
  11. 6,000 to 7,000 expected at UND-NDSU men's basketball game [url=http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/226756/group/homepage/] It'll be interesting to see how they've "tightened" things up a bit to make the REA a better basketball venue. I doubt it is as good as Dakotadan's idea of pushing the floor back to one of the red-lines, but IMO anything would help. I've been to several basketball games at REA, and have always been disappointed by the environment except for when we play the Bison. I'd much rather watch a game in the Betty with 3,000 people than watch a game in REA with 5,000. Also a bit ticked that they are gonna charge hockey season ticket holders for parking. I've been to plenty of games at the Sioux Center and not had to pay to park. But tomorrow I apparently have to.............
  12. I'm assuming it won't affect us all that much. Altitude has been the Big Sky's television partner in recent seasons. At most, it probably just means that any time North Dakota plays Montana or Montana St. in football, you'll have more options to watch it, especially if you live in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana. All UM and MSU games are televised home and away, and the FSSN/UNDSN has a good track record of picking up available satellite feeds of away games. This might make it easier for Sioux fans that are not DirecTV or Midcontinent subsribers to see the Sioux. My understanding is that UND's deal with Fox College Sports is largely unaffected by any TV deals that the Big Sky or the NCHC makes. Just that Root Sports and CBS College Sports will have "first-right-of-refusal" type deal....................
  13. Attendance of last three Sioux-Bison games in REA: 2001-02: 5,942 2002-03: 8,891 2003-04: 7,247 I'd be surprised if attendance even approached the 10,000-ish number that was for the game in Fargo last year. NDSU fans care much more about playing North Dakota than vice-versa. I'll say 7,500 or so sounds about right for this game. I'm sure looking forward to it, heading up with a party of 9 tomorrow.............
  14. I think if ANY of the Dakota schools ever wind up in the MVC, it will look nothing like the MVC that we know today.............................
  15. I don't see much out of line with that comment. North Dakota has already beaten the 2nd place teams in the Summit and Big Sky, might as well add a lower tier Summit school to the victim list..........................
  16. I'd prefer a 180 to a 360.........................
  17. The only flaw in your logic is that last season NAIA Black Hills St. outdrew DI Drake and DI South Dakota.........................
  18. Well I wouldn't trade Anderson, Webb, Schuler, Huff, Mitchell, Mathison or Stockdale for anyone on NDSU's roster. UND has oodles of talent, more than NDSU even. Just a matter of them playing together. I like North Dakota in this game, they seem to like playing in front of the home crowd. Got my tickets yesterday, and I've never seen them lose (in person) to the Bison. Hopefully it is a good one................
  19. I like this post. But, to me personally, North Dakota's one football national championship is more impressive than the hockey titles. Just my opinion. But I wouldn't trade either for the other.
  20. Yeah, like I said I don't follow recruiting for any sport all that closely. When I think North Carolina, I think basketball, not football.............
  21. Shows what I know................. Like I said, I'm not much on recruiting...................... Top 20 in the USA is more impressive that top 20 in NC............... Sorry, Braden Hanson...........................................
